Re: The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread
One thing I hope people don't do is criticize his intelligence based off of interviews. I've been reading he grew up with a horrific speech impediment and is still very shy on camera and during interviews.

I won't but if we draft him I'm totally calling him the Waterboy.

Re: The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread
The ESPN article quoted earlier in the thread was interesting, and instructive. I seriously believe the objective should be to trade down with Cleveland for their 4 and 24, let them take MKG, then take our pick from whoever is left among Robinson, Beal or Drummond. Either way we get a player we can insert into our rebuild and hopefully add a quality player later.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread
Cavs will probably stay put and take Barnes at 4.

Well I'm glad we have someone from the Cavs FO on these boards to let us know such things.

The title of the article "Cleveland eyeing UNC's Barnes at No. 4" disproves your claim. Of course they are looking at and considering Barnes. They were looking at him last year as well, but looking is a far cry from that being their definite pick. If they weren't considering any other prospect this early in the process they would idiots.
My snarkiness is due to you basically saying we can't consider a trade offer with the Cavs because they're going with Barnes at 4.

Re: The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread
Strengths: The premiere perimeter defender in college, capable of being a lock down defender on the next level Physically he has everything you need to stand out defensively: long arms, footwork, quickness, anticipation, long arms and height plus a willingness to exert as much effort on defense as on offense Tough minded player with a strong work ethic Not a bad passer for his size who unselfishly looks for open teammates Decent rebounder who uses his leaping ability and long arms to make an impact on the glass When driving to the basket, he converts difficult baskets due to his body control and leaping ability Is a solid three point shooter when his feet are set Excellent finisher in transition where his athleticism allows him to finish with ease Approaches the game with a blue collar attitude and does all the dirty work with a smile on his face Shows above average post up skills for a SF When everything is clicking, he can put up points in a hurry Moves well without the ball and has become efficient running off of screens ...
Weakness: Offensively he still doesnt seem to have a great grasp of the game Not really able to score at will, or create offense for himself or others the way you would expect someone with his physical abilities Ball handling must continue to improve as hes clearly not comfortable with the ball in his hands From a fundamental standpoint he doesnt do a good job of keeping his dribble low and away from his defender Right now his body should be a priority for him to work on Currently he lacks upper body strength and needs to bulk up on his slight 185 pound frame Offensively does a lot of things well but nothing spectacular. While he has range, he lacks consistency Has slashing ability but too often settles for shooting the jumper Is prone to making mental mistakes in games during critical moments

What are you talking about? Where did I say it was their definite pick? Where did I say we can't consider a trade offer with the Cavs because they're going with Barnes at 4? You gather all of this because I said the Cavs will probably take him at 4?
Lol, alright.

Eh, you're right. The context which I read your comment originally is different than how you actually meant it. Sorry for being a dick. FWIW I really hope we can make a 2 for 4 + 24 trade go through.

Re: The Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Thread
MKG was my guy at #2 a month ago. then Trob was my guy and i slid MKG down to #4 on my list behind drummond. i am starting to warm to the idea of MKG again. i think drummond is back down to #5, behind beal as well.
i just love hearing about MKG's work ethic, motor (word of the month?), intangibles and his relentless desire to attack the rim and defend everything in site. i'm not sure if he has passed robinson yet.
a core of kemba, hendo, MKG and biz has the potential to be a very disruptive defensive team, one that can apply tons of pressure, force turnovers, block shots and really push the tempo of a game defensively. its an identity we can build around as we add more pieces. that's one thing i think this team has franchise, an identity. i'd like for players, fans, media to know what this team stands for.
obviously this core still lacks outside shooting, low post offense and a true go-to franchise player and until those things are addressed, we are still awful, but with an identity.

^ Well Fats, if we took MKG number two we should be able to grab either John Jenkins or Dorron Lamb at 31. Either would greatly aid in our three point shooting woes. One of them will likely still be there. Then maybe we could trade Maggette for someone's rarely used three point specialist.

FWIW the scouting reported quoted above was not written for MKG...........
