Drummond is also more of an asset than Thabeet offensively, because he can really run the floor and he's a target for alley-oops. It's not much, but it's something.

I went with Drummond. Was leading at the time (up to 24 hours after the poll). Guess a lot of people voted for Barnes late

Smart choice is Barnes. Drummond is the gamble.. I say Drummond knowing I will regret it.

Barnes is a waste of #5. If we want a role player SF, we can trade down for for Ross or Taylor. Using a #5 pick on such a marginal, replaceable player is ridiculous.

I have Zero confidence in GP to execute any draft day trade. Barnes fills a need. Not saying its this year but at some point the Kings have to look at drafting need, however I chose Drummond because of the visible potential and athleticism.

Well if we're not able to do a draft day trade in general, then Petrie needs to be fired. I'm hoping last year was just a horrible mistake.

In general though, we still should be able to trade down. Going for need is fine, but it doesn't mean you should waste your most valuable assets on replaceable role players.

Isn't that a little harsh?

What if Petrie strikes gold with the player he has drafted? Or a guy like MKG falls down to #5? I would be fine if we stay at #5 if there isn't any good offers out there.

Pretty ridiculous actually. Who knows what junk teams are willing to give up for our pick.

No, my point is that if we're saying "We shouldn't do a trade because Petrie sucks at trades," then we're in trouble that goes beyond this draft.

I personally don't think that's how we should look at this though. But I can't blame others for thinking that way, given the disaster of last year.

Many chucker's? WE have one chucker that is Crawford and Beal don't need the ball to score he can spot up and shoot off- screens. He's definitely not ball dominate as Jordan Crawford. Wall and Beal will make a nice backcourt and they can play off eachother.

I voted other because I believe they should trade the pick for a veteran. We don't need to get any younger or a player that will be a good starter in 3-4 years.

Trade the pick to Atlanta for Josh Smith. He'll be in a contract year, so he'll play hard. Maybe we can resign him, if not we can move him at the deadline, s&t after the season or let him walk and have the cap space. Atlanta would love Drummond (to pair with Horford), wants to shed salary and seems to be willing to deal Smith. It would be nice if we could extend him but honestly speaking I don't think the Maloofs can afford it and he will be motivated playing for a contract.

Also, we could let Evans/Thorton battle it out for the SG spot and the loser could be our 6th man or be dealt.

Our lineup:
Thomas/Jimmer
Evans/Thorton
Smith/Salmons/Garcia/Green/Honeycutt/Outlaw --- too many bodies
Thompson/Hayes
Cousins/Whiteside

Bottom line: I believe if we're picking at #5 we've failed. Move the pick. Rudy Gay/Igudola could be options as well.

I'd love to be able to get Josh Smith for #5, maybe Garcia and Outlaw. He provides much needed shot blocking and athleticism. He'd likely start at PF though. We can then target a SF via free agency.

Drummond75%, Robinson 25%. Move Evens back to the 2 spot.

Or Deng straight up for the #5 pick and the 2nd round pick. Allows Evens to go to the 2 slot. A vet leader at the 3 spot. Enough can not be said for this. Cousins at the 4. This team needs a vet leader who is a second team all D team and All Star. I believe this puts the Kings back in the playoffs.

Now still young. Get help at center by trading Hayes and next years pick. The team is exciting and Evens, Cousins are young - learn from Deng how to win. Heck Evens is a 22 year old kid. He has been screwed with and with Deng who can play 2,3,4 Evens never plays more than a few spot minutes at 3.

If the Kings don't take Robinson, Evens plays more 3... screw that.

Evens and Cousins rock. Deng is glue.

Thoughts?

Same idea, I really like Deng over Smith.
