First Round Playoff Thread

That was back when I wanted to trade Bogut for Harden/Ibaka... and no one wanted to do it.

There were a whole bunch of us that wanted that deal.

The rest of us just wondered what kind of drugs they'd have to be on to accept the deal.


Why does espn insist on referring to OKC as having the best big 3 when they have an actual team.

We didn't hijack our franchise.

That doesn't have much to do with my point. The teams build the same way.

1. Use the draft almost exclusively to build the roster.
2. Good player development/scouting.
3. Keep their own good players.
4. Don't waste money on veteran FA.
5. Have an extremely long window of contention as a result of 1-4.

Packers = Thunder
Vikings = Bucks

Probably for the same reason people keep talking about Boston's "Big 3" and ignore Rondo, who may be better than all of them at this point.

As one who too seldom watches the NBA when the Bucks aren't in the game, it's been an eye-opener and an affirmation to watch parts of the Thunder/Spurs series. Reminds me that basketball is an engaging, fun sport to watch (something as a Bucks fan I'd sort of forgotten). All you need are teams that know what they want to do, players with tangible talents, and the mental spirit to compete hard.

Even if I stop being a practicing Bucks fan after 40+ years (undecided right now, mostly depending on whether the Bucks continue to keep practicing the dysfunctional patterns they've been mired in for so long) I'm reassured that the NBA has merit. And the Bucks may one day play at the NBA level.

We need a new owner.

I, too, don't watch much NBA unless its a Bucks game. I also didn't watch any of the first couple rounds of this year's playoffs. But I've tuned in for the Conference Finals and you're exactly right. The NBA is fun when good teams are playing good basketball. What a concept! On the bright side, the Bucks are only 12 players away. The Thunder are younger, bigger, quicker, stronger, faster, smarter, more fundamentally sound, and better coached than the Bucks. By a mile. The organization understood that they had to get really bad before they could get really good. They drafted well. They developed well. I really wish I had it in me to sell out the Bucks for a well run organization. I just can't do it. Instead, I suffer.

I'd disagree with you Mike. I see the old "Cleveland went from 60 game winners to 19 game winners after Lebron left" misleading argument. Here's the truth. The season before their first 60 win season, the Cavs won 45 games. The Chosen One was a member of that 45 win team. The next season, the Cavs acquire Mo Williams...THEN they win 60 plus games. After Cleveland won 60 games for the last time, they not only lost Lebron...BUT ALSO Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Shaquille Oneal and Delonte West. So it wasn't just Lebron leaving that caused Cleveland to slip to 19 wins. Add to that the fact that during that 19 win tanking campaign, Anderson Very Joe and Mo Williams only played 31 and 36 games respectively. So let's be a little more honest here when talking about how Cleveland fell off without Lebron.

You're seriously bringing up fat Shaq, broken-down Z and Delonte "freaking" West to support your claim that Cleveland had a great team around James? If you look at the games Mo and Varejao both played you'll see the Cavs sucked anyway. Besides, what has any of those guys names you brought up done post James? If you are trying to use these guys to prove to mlloyd10 that James supporting cast was great I think you are the one that needs to be a little more honest.

A guy that had a great supporting cast was MJ. He retired the 1st time and that team only won 2 less games, advanced in the playoffs, had multiple all-stars and a 1st team all NBA player in Pippen. Now that is a great team and light years from guys like fat Shaq, Z, West...

The NBA is fun when good teams are playing good basketball. What a concept! On the bright side, the Bucks are only 12 players away. ....... I really wish I had it in me to sell out the Bucks for a well run organization. I just can't do it. Instead, I suffer.

I look back to when I was a 9-year old Bucks fan, all doe-eyed and wet behind the ears. After a Bucks' loss, I might have told Frank Brickowski, Brad Lohaus, or Jeff Grayer "good job" or "good effort." Fast forward 20 seasons and Im singing a different tune after being beaten down with terrible rosters, coaches, GM's, and Herbie... now a 30-year old Bucks fan. Check out these win totals from teams I've had a pleasure to watch... 31, 28, 20, 34, 25, 33, 36, 28, 42, 52, 41, 42, 30, 40, 28, 26, 34, 46, 35, 31... only two winning playoff series (both in the same year when I was out of state for college and didn't have the NBA Ticket)



If the "good effort" kid started watching basketball this season, he's already witnessed his team have as much success as I've seen in my entire Bucks watching lifetime. And I'm 20 years older.

If you told Grayer "good job, good effort" after his free throw attempt went backwards you would've been a true Bucks fan.
