One person's "good man" is another person's bigot and warmonger. To each his own, I guess.
Normally, I would ignore such a comment, but I felt it was so unwarranted, I wanted to respond. So I did a google search on "Chuck Colson bigot" and was immediately sorry I did, as I saw a sampling of true hatred spewed at a man who lived out his faith in very real situations, particularly in Prison ministry. And I shed a tear for this country.
I have no knowledge of Colson post conviction conversion...sounds like his heart
was in the right place and all that. One does wonder if you shed a similar tear
for Max Cleland, the multiple amputee vet that was morphed into Osama Bin Laden
by the GOP lie machine. Too much of that sort of thing going around.
A lot of what we call 'thought' is just mental activity

jim, I absolutely do believe his heart was in the right place - and he proved it by his work with prisoners and fighting for their rights. Not exactly a popular issue among his adopted base (the evangelical Right), if you know what I mean - but he brought attention to it anyway.
I understand the Max Cleland situation, and think it was wrong. But it was also 10 years ago. There has been an awful lot of vicious things coming out since then - from both sides, yes. But I didn't see any "Tom Barrett with a Hitler mustache" posters out of Wisconsin. And besides, the comments about Colson were made here, on this board. I just felt that needed a response.
