I don't think I like this trade idea, but:

Hedo $11,400,000
Meer $7,888,888
JJ $6,000,000
Total $25,288,888

Okafor $13,543,250
Ariza $7,258,960
Jack $5,580,000
Total $26,382,210

Why for Magic. Jack is on the last year of his contract. Okafor and Ariza have two years left plus they get the #10. This team becomes a Defensive Monster if Liggins gets more burn to help the Perimeter "D".

Why for New Orleans. Hedo can be bought out next summer while JJ and Meer are expirings.

I can't believe a team like NOH would trade their lottery pick just to shed salary. But if they do...

I'd use that 10th, Ariza, and/or Okafor as trade bait for Monta or J-Smoove. Doubt it happens. They'll get far better offers. MIL and ATL and pretty much every team is looking for a starting center.

I wish we already had our GM in place. I want to expect big things on draft night, but I know better. Life of a Magic fan

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine

They waive jj and last year of hedo s contract is partially guaranteed

We get the 10th pick + solid vet defender

Was thinking of this aswell except Philly gets involved

Philly gets. Okafor our #19th pick
NO gets iguodala redick turkoglu
Orl gets ariza #10 pick

This makes NO contenders
We get to go after anyone we want in the draft and get a decent defender in Ariza
Philly gets a big they need and rid of iguodala and also a pick for taking on plagues contract
Follow!!! @13edm

Hornets will entertain offers for 10th pick if someone also agrees to take Ariza or Okafor contracts.

JJ and the 19th pick for Ariza and the 10th pick. DISCUSS.

take on Ariza/Okafor/#10 and flip Okafor + one of 2 picks (#10 or #19) for Ellis, Iggy, Josh, or hell, see if Brooklyn would do a S&T offer for DWill.

Hedo +jj for okafor+ariza+10th

They can cut jj and last year of hedo is partially guaranteed, this trade is saving them M$

Someone mentioned that Stan Van Gundy may be in consideration for the Heat as a coach if Spoelstra doesn't get it done this year.

LOL. Another ex-Magic coach getting a Ship elsewhere. LOL

One thing for sure, i'm enjoying hearing Penn talk during the draft combine, knowing he may be working for us by next week.

It's funny how the Nets go from 'Deron will resign' to Avery saying 'we're hoping we can resign Deron'. Clowns, that guy is gone imo.

hearing these guys dissect the strength of Barnes' pivot foot is nuts. I don't know if all GMs evaluate players like this but Penn is killing it with is analysis of each player.

Just like when Shaq left the Magic became the Warriors. Just like when Penny left. Just like when T-Mac left. This team always has fans who say something like that and then the Magic are back pretty quickly.

Penn does give off a good impression....he clearly knows what he's talking about.....wouldn't mind him being our GM....knows what he's taking about with Players.....and he's a capologist so to speak....Good with the basketball side of things....Good with the business side of things....not a bad choice imo

there are no guarantees that a team Bounces back. Sometimes they get lucky, but after Shaq left, this team was no better than a 6th seed until Dwight came along. That was over 10 years of mediocrity. I nor you would like to see that happen again.

Penny and TMac only provided entertainment value for a competitive team in making the playoffs. Neither player provided the Magic with contending power. Only Dwight and Shaq did that. If the Magic loses Dwight, this organization could become mediocre for decades. There can only be so many top teams and many teams like the Wizards, Raptors, Bucks etc etc never get past the 1st or 2nd round. I don't want to end up like those teams.

I would rather shoot for Gold and go for it all as this could (and most likely) be the last chance the Magic have a player capable of leading them to a ship.

He has a very good understanding of the salary cap and the all options that comes with having some space. Also understands ramifications for incorrectly using cap space. Dude is nyce wit it. I loved hearing him say when you have a young stud, you gotta surround him with other good young players so they all grow together and putting the right vets on the team to be that vet leader until the young'ns grow into their own. He was talking about creative trades where you don't use all your cap space and get more for your assets.

Impressed.

I'm with BMP.

Whatever offer we get for Dwight would be the equivalent of losing him for nothing, as far as I can see. I say ride it out and try to build a perennial contender in the East. We've been pretty fortunate to have had this many good players come to ORL. We've gotten lucky with Shaq and Dwight. I wouldn't squander the opportunity again.

If you are talking about Penn, I am all in. Dude has been a salary cap genius and I really enjoy his commentary as an ESPN analyst regarding teams salary situations and player talent evaluations. Much better than Otis in that regards.

Of course, there has to be the ability to walk the talk when dealing with other GM's also.

IF we have to trade Dwight, make sure to also get a future unprotected pick 10 yrs down the road. If lucky, that pick can add a high lotto player to a good team on the cusp of contending.
