The Royce White Thread
Royce White is a top 5 talent, anxiety disorder be damned. Dude singlehandedly put the fear of God in Davis and Kentucky.

Secondary ballhandler to take pressure off Kemba/let Kemba play off the ball? Check.
Rebounding? Check.
Amazing court vision, passing ability, and post-game which will draw doubles and complement Biz the most? Check, check, check.
Dunks that will put fans in the seats? Check.
Fact: Charlotte played their best basketball when Boris Diaw was in beast mode.
Fact: Royce is practically Boris in beast mode all the time. The only thing Boris does better is shoot.

Re: The Royce White Thread
His anxiety condition seems to have gotten a little better recently, as he's gotten his flying fear under control. Where do you think he goes in the draft? No way he drops to 31.
investigate Adam Silver

I like him too. I just don't see us getting him unless we trade into the middle of the 1st. If he was there at 31 I would be elated.

Yeah, he's a first round lock for sure. He should go in that 5-10 range but NBA GMs will pass him up for safer picks and he'll probably hover around 15-20. His knocks are: anxiety disorder, past run ins with the law (related to disorder, reason he transferred from Minnesota to Iowa St), weight issue, not a consistent shooter.
But IMO the strengths far outweigh those red flags and I'd take him over anybody not named Anthony Davis. NBA trainers should take care of that weight and anxiety thing much better than in college.

Re: The Royce White Thread
I've seen the Cleveland trade thrown up where we get the 4th and 24th. The only way I like that trade is if we nab White at 24, but I don't think he will fall past even 16 or so.
Would be a nice pickup though.

Love his game! Would only take him if we could get a mid 1st rounder or so.

Everyone I want is in that 10-20 range now: Moutrie, Harkless, Leonard, now even Royce!

Royce is a nutcase, the game of basketball is 25% talent 25% skill 50% mental

Re: The Royce White Thread
Dont get me wrong he is a good player, but there are definite concerns. As far as taking him with our 2nd pick that would be a down right lolcat move.
What worries me outside of the anxiety disorder are..... what position does he play at the next level, he is only listed at 6'8'' he just seems like a tweener. I think I would take him as high as 7th possibly.
Davis
Beal
MKG
Robinson
Barnes
Lamb
White
Drummond
PJ3
Terrence Ross
are my top 10 right now

He's not in my top 10 and his height is a factor but I still with the right team he could do a lot. If Boston managed to grab him at 21 he'd be great for their rebuilding process.

you have absolutely no evidence for this and base it entirely on your ignorance of psychology.

87% off all statistics are made up on the spot.
Also, to those concerned about Robinson's height... White is going to be super small next to Bismack

That assumes a few things. Most importantly, it assumes that he starts, and at the PF spot. There are other options.

Re: The Royce White Thread
I think if you're gonna take White you play him at point forward. Do we want to go there? Maybe if we hire Shaw as head coach?

Very interesting! Could play a super sixth man if you wanted. Be a great piece for the future.

Oh yeah, I think he's way more skilled and sees the game better than T-Rob, easily.
I'm not worried about his height b/c unlike Robinson, Royce has way better lower body strength and is so savvy. Mentally, he just makes defenders look amateurish which is pretty ironic considering his disorder. He's got hops too, check that second vid I posted. He's a classic low-post big, think in terms of a Rick Mahorn, in that he gets rebounds by boxing out and position instead of athleticism which is a vast improvement to our roster.
Royce would complement Biz really well b/c his passing would put Biz's scoring opportunities on a plate and his understanding of spacing and great face-up game would keep him from crowding the plate.

What difference does it make? The guy isn't projected anywhere near our second round pick, and if he is as good as you think he is his stock is going to go up into the teens. Why are we talking about this guy? We might as well be speculating about the Unibrow demanding a trade to please his mother.
