Workouts...

Post#1 » by Sacramento_King » Mon Jun 4, 2012 5:55 pm

Does anyone know if anything is scheduled? Kings.com says tbd but I see lots of teams bringing players in. What are the Kings doing? I hope we aren't so cheap we won't schedule some talent prior to pre-draft camps.

I think we can expect it by around the weekend or next week. By this time last year, we started to workout several players already.

The legit workouts don't usually happen until after the combine. They've already worked out some players I read somewhere, but they were likely undrafted types.

I don't think anybody is really looking forward to working out with us.

This. I remember hearing a lot of agents are going to try to steer their players away from Sac because of our ownership situation. Going to be a difficult summer for Petrie unfortunately.

From where? Wouldn't the agents want their players drafted as high as possible and for their players to fit the teams needs? Who gives a **** about the owners.

Anyways if you youtube 2012 nba draft workout there's some top prospects going through some workouts like Terrance Jones, MKG, Trob, a lot more will be uploaded soon in the next couple of days. None have worked out with Sac yet.

I like Henson, but at #5? It's bit of a stretch. Kind of reminds of the Thompson pick back in 2008. We probably could have gotten him a couple spots later.

Yeah, Hensen does seem like a great fit for this team defensively; Bit of a reach, but a possible trade down scenario? Yikes. Trades involving this team scare me - but I wouldn't mind a trade down for Hensen. He fits a need - IMO.

With the Cavs possibly Inclind on taking Barnes, wonder who drops? Should be interesting.

Ya, I like Henson but not at 5.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

With our luck, it will be Beal. A position we have way to much of currently. Maybe we can package to move down and dump Salmons....

Henson at draft combine, been getting pushed around defensively.

terrence jones > john henson
TJ is legit pf in the nba, if we trade down i want TJ not henson.
hopefully we keep the #5 pick.

Perry Jones, the next Charlie Villanueva, no thanks.

I must say, I don't like to make judgements off of combine drills but Henson is going to have a chance to kill it in workouts. He looked bouncy, fluid, and quick in his movements today. By the end of workouts #5 might not be such a stretch.

Yeah, by that bulldozer Royce White, who also pushed around Drummond in the tournament. Henson looked quicker and more mobile than the other players, that was a little surprising. If there were a ton of legit back to the basket PF's and you were asking Henson to be a post defender next to Cousins (Cousins fills that role nicely), then there might be cause for concern, might. Today he looked like he'll have a terrific chance to stay with perimeter players on switches, that's the player you want next to Cousins if the trade off is that he might be pushed around once and awhile so be it, put Hayes in if you're getting killed, all bases are covered.

Terrence Jones is still going to come out of this draft as one of the better talents IMO. Henson will be a shotblocker and looks to have the tools to be an excellent pick 'n roll defender as well. That is a unique combo for a 6'11" player.

I'm torn between Drummond and Henson right now, both could be exactly what this team needs with negatives going both ways.

ok henson is quicker and mobile but getting abused defensively/inside because of hes small frame, its sounds a sf to me, i dont want my defensive pf getting abused in defensive end. terrence jones is underrated defender, he blocks almost 2 blocks per game, if anthony davis wasn't there he will blocks more than that. terrence jones is stronger, younger and better pf than henson in the nba.

if we trade down and we pick henson, GP should be fired. he did terrible decision last year in draft night, i see the same out come(jimmer draft) if we trade down and draft henson.
(i want one and done freshmen or sophomore sensation college player, not a dominating junior or great senior college player).

KEEP the #5 pick and draft best available sf or pf/c.
