If he has a promise higher than us that means a guard drops. It's probably one of Beal, MKG or Barnes. Likely Beal judging by the recent rumours of Barnes going to the Cavs and MKG being such a monster all year long.

I agree, of teams ahead of us, that makes sense. But it's more likely somebody just behind us in the 9-13 range.

I can see Philadelphia doing something with NO for the 10th pick. Then giving him a promise...He is from philli right? That could be a plausible situation

Who else could it be but the Raptors? Not MIL, POR x2, NO, DET, GS, SAC. CLE is a maybe if they're a real stats oriented team and he fits the bill there, but that seems awfully high considering he'd be the first guard off the board. I dunno.

I don't know if they're the team but I'm calling Cleveland liking Harrison Barnes as dogcrap or Gilbert intentionally trying to troll/smokescreen. Cleveland is a stats team and Barnes is the anti stats team pick.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

Ya Blazers is who I'm thinking (if its above us). That could help Drummond fall (if he doesn't go to the Cats). Maybe Beal too.

There are a couple Raptors beat guys down in Chicago, no?
Haven't seen a peep on Twitter from any of them. Would be nice to get some insight into how the Raptors are thinking, though I know that's unlikely anyway.

Re: Waiters has high draft promise; cancels all workouts
of course, it means nothing to us if we're not the promising team AND the mocks are right and have Sullinger going before the Raptors draft.
man, it would suck to be looking at Sullinger as the BPA. i'd rather trade down for Harkless or White or Lillard

Re: Waiters has high draft promise; cancels all workouts
Whoa really? That's hard to believe, especially this early. What if that team gets an offer they can't refuse, or sees another player that they like more between now and the draft? What if a player they thought would be gone falls to them?
I think it's foolish of Waiters to cancel other workouts now unless he thinks what he did already is a bit of fluke and he's not really as good as he showed on that day. Odds of being injured in a few workouts are very slim.
I just don't get it.

Probasketballdraft @Probballdraft
I've heard that Toronto really liked Dion Waiters and might be the team that promised Waiters, allegedly.
I'm not necessarily buying this, but if it is true, it means BC has a deal to move Demar.
Otherwise, he'd let things play out. But if you know you'll need a SG, can't get Beal, and don't want anyone else but Waiters, this is what you do.
But I'm skeptical.

Re: Waiters has high draft promise; cancels all workouts
Any agent advising a client to stop all workouts with a promise outside of the top 5 or 6 is doing a disservice to that player.
Anything can happen in the draft and promises quickly go away if another player suddenly drops.
I could see canceling workouts above a certain number, but without a promise in the top 5 or 6 you should be working out with the top 10 teams.

Re: Waiters has high draft promise; cancels all workouts
Cancels ALL workouts? Wow. That is pretty crazy. Somebody doesn't want him to be seen by others. As others pointed out with Amare... I think he'd consider doing this if it was a lottery pick guarantee.
I find it hard to believe that anybody in the top 7 would flat out guarantee him that because as Ozzy pointed out... anything could happen. Beal could slide. Who knows? From us on down though I can absolutely see it.
If Wolstadt's comments about the Raptors not being impressed with Lamb's motor, or don't think he'd be good up here in Toronto... it could very well be us who's promised him a pick.
He grew up 9 hours from here and went to University 4.5 hours from here. He knows winters. He knows Toronto. He's a Philly guy so Alvin might know him. Grew up watching the same Vince/Iverson series we all did cheering for AI. Colangelo follows the HS scene and Waiters was a top 15 recruit. It could be us. If not us then one of Phoenix or Portland could also have offered him that.
It is interesting that Ford immediately mocked him at 8 and we do know that Colangelo, amongst others, were at the workout.

Re: Waiters has high draft promise; cancels all workouts
As a Blazers fan, it is inconceivable that Por would draft a sg, UNLESS said player can play pg. The signals sent out are that they are high on Williams as well as the passion Matthews plays with. Matthews figures as a token for what Blazers want to represent heading into the Aldridge era.
Matthews is a good defender and 3pt shooter.
Moreover, Olshey just met with the scouting dept today. There is no way they could've meshed philosophies in such a short timeframe to arrive at the suggested action. Although, they have done it in the past.
As i see it should reports hold credibility, if you consent, it is either Cavs, Wiz or Suns.

Don;t think so. Wolstat is here, Koreen is here, not sure about Uncle Doug. Couple of guys are more involved with the Boston series (you know, playoff basketball, something we only have a passing notion about...)

The quote is "high promise" so I'm thinking before we pick, or us.

Better than a Toronto blogger, not as credible as Ford, Givony, Stein or even Steve Kyler. But he is in Chicago.

I think Le Doug is there, or at least, in Chicago. From this morn:
Okay, stupid early flight today after a very short night (had an NBA ref call these kind of late-evening-early-wakeup days “night naps” during a social moment post-Game 3 in OKC) so we’ll get to comments when I get settled in Chicago.

Not necessarily. A guaranteed slot is pretty damn good, sure he might jump up, but he could also slide for any number of reasons.
