Do yourselves a favor and go watch the first Johnson/McCall fight for free on ufc.com

War McCall.

War McCall indeed. Going to have to rush home to catch the prelims, I'm guessing 5:30 or maybe even earlier.

A lot of mid and low tier guys, but Grice, Polish Pistola, and Neer are always fun to watch.

I'm surprised by the betting lines for this fight. The first fight was a draw, and McCall won the 3rd round 10-8. So why is MM at -155? Why would anyone make that bet?

Looking forward to seeing Erick Silva fight again.

I'm rooting for Benevidez, but I'll take Creepy here.

Thanks for the update. I finished watching the first round, and I'm not sure that MM won it. Yeah, he won in the standup game, and even rocked UC at some point, but UC got 1 more takedown, did more damage in the clinch, and was hitting MM's head while MM was working for a takedown.

Again, I don't get MM being a -155 favorite here.

I could see 28-28 there I guess. That's actually how I scored it live iirc. Hard fight to score for sure. Johnson was landing hooks as they separated a lot, which I was scoring for him, but McCall is a really really good wrestler and he was passing with ease, if not outright landing into dominant positions from takedowns. Its kind of like the Machida/Rampage fight with two really close rounds and then one round where the guy dominates. I think 28-28 draw, 29-28 Johnson, or 29-28 McCall were all in play there tbh, under the current scoring.

If you watch it as a scrap and just ask yourself who won though, McCall whooped that ass.

Yeah, watching it live I scored it as a draw, but I was biased because I really, really wanted to see a 4th round.

Tonight is the second time I've seen it, and I have a hard time not giving it to McCall. Super close fight though.

Could even be argued 28-27 McCall.

DJ said his cut went a lot better this time, but he looks sort of drawn out to me. Moreso than usual.

DJ: I don't make predictions, it'll be a good fight.
McCall: I'm going to finish him...around the third round.

oh snap

Became a huge fan of McCall recently. He does a ton of media and stuff. Was telling a story on I think Ariel's show that he ODed and basically died, was brought back. Now here he is. Unreal stuff.

Pretty badass story that I think Jordan Breen was saying about McCall a year or so back some guys were asking him if he thought MM and/or Benavidez were really the best in the world at 125, but just fighting at 135 since flyweight wasn't in the ufc yet. I guess he just sort of laughed it off like you'll see who the best is at 125 when the time comes.

Plus the 'stache.

edit: think he was on drugs hardcore during his wec stint. crazy. wow

I also became a fan after his interview with Ariel. Hard not to root for him after hearing his story. He's undefeated ever since he's been off the drugs.

I had 29-27 McCall. I was stunned with the decision, but I'm an Uncle Creepy fanboy so I'm biased.

I have a lot of respect for dudes that can kick the habit and compete athletically at a top level. Dude just looks hard... and the mustache is awesome in a non-ironic way. I wish I had the credibility to pull it off. Pugilists can do it, cubicle jockeys cannot.

Also love how he identifies as a hipster. How many mma fighting hipsters can there possibly be?

But yea, I was throwing my support behind Dustin Ortiz at flyweight. Thought he'd be in the ufc soon, but if he loses at small shows in Wisconsin he may be further away than I thought. McCall is just so charismatic, and maybe I'm just a sucker for comeback stories.

At a time when a lot of my favorite dudes are disappointing me: Condit and Shogun turning down fights which has NEVER been characteristic of either of them, Mir turning to TRT (bleh), etc. I could easily see myself becoming a huge McCall fan.

I actually like MM, but hoping Uncle Creepy wins tonight just because I feel like he got screwed so bad last time. Even if I wasn't a fan, it just wouldn't sit right with me were he to lose.

Going heavy with the dogs for the pick em pool. Either going to look like a genius or a moron.

Crappy card for UFC on paper, but as always I'm sure it will provide some entertainment.

For the record, I got Mouse, Silva, Pyle, Pierce, Jorgensen, Means, Roberts, Grice, Hecht, Papazian, H. Martinez, and Benoist.

Low-level technique, ideas, and athleticism displayed by Hecht and Pierson. We're off to a bad start.

Those facebook fights were lame. Hopefully it picks up for the televised portions of the card, but no way I'm staying in for this just to see it live.

Yea, Fridays, in my case at least, are by far the worst night for fights.

Grice looks much better from the last time I saw him.
