Good. In this draft, #2 might as well be #10. Plenty of talent available and unless Cho is fixated on one guy, no reason to not trade down.

Ridding ourselves of Tyrus Thomas for nothing is the equivalent of getting back a number 1 pick.

Iggy or Turner and Thaddues Young for Tyrus Thomas and number 2 pick.
Our 15th pick can be included as well.

For those coveting the #2 pick from Charlotte - "They want a lot for it" said one executive... warned they are testing its trade value
It's interesting that they are talking to guy sin the middle of the draft and have not talked to Thomas Robinson. They have talked to Bradley Beal, but that is the only top 5 guy I have heard about. If you look at teams between 12 and 18 then it's the Bucks, Suns, Rockets, 76ers, Mavs and Twolves. I can't really see a trade coming about involving any of those teams so again it goes to show that it is most likely going to be a big 3 team trade. The Bobcats must feel confident in their ability to get what they want in a trade though, based on who they are talking to in the draft.
If Cho doesn't see anyone of TRob, MKG, Drummond, or even Beal as being a star or worthy of top 5, then I trust him. Seems like of those Cho is most infatuated with Beal. I wonder what team most wants TRob at 2?

Hornets #10 pick
There is an article at realgm that the Hornets would consider sending away the #10 pick if someone would also take Okafor or Ariza. Does anyone know what their contracts look like, how many more years?
Im a little more interested in this scenario, staying at #2 and taking on a contract for #10 than I would be at trading down and giving up the #2 for two later picks.
If we did this, we would be guaranteed our top choice at #2 and not leave it up to chance, but still get two young guys. I hear alot about how there isnt much of a difference 2-8, which might be true today, but going forward there will be one or two guys that will seperate themselves from the group. My hope is that Cho can pick out that guy.

I don't have any interest in Iggy, Turner, or Young. Young's contract is not up to par to what he provides. Iggy is exactly what we are trying to get away from, mediocrity. Turner may have potential, but a trade can't just be centered around him. I do think perhaps Philly could be a nice 3rd team partner. I think a player like Iggy would fit nicely with Memphis. Maybe something like this:
Memphis in: Iggy, Turner
Memphis out: Gay, 25th pick
Philly in: #2 pick, Thomas
Philly out: Iggy, Turner, #15
Charlotte in: #15, #25, Gay
Charlotte out: #2, Thomas
This would allow Memphis to basically replace Mayo with Turner and get a player in Iggy that would be a much better fit than Gay was plus Iggy's contract is less. For Philly your going to have to pay a price for #2 and I think Iggy is out the door anyway. For Charlotte, if we really are interested in Gay, then this gets Gay in here as well as two picks. Plus we could get rid of Thomas' contract (which means were basically paying 9-10 million a year for Gay because his contract is the same length as Thomas' who would had been on the books anyway). Still not sure I'm in love with it, but if Cho wants Gay then this is probably a pretty good scenario. I still think I would want more.
WIth 15 you likely look at Zeller (Who would be a good fit next to Bioyombo because of his perimeter shot) or maybe Perry Jones or Terrance Jones (don't really like). At 25 we could look at Tony Wroten.

Re: Trading the #2 pick - dicussion (merged)
Not sure this really should go here, but it's very interesting and kind of relates to trading 2.
Regardless, sources out of the Chicago Draft Combine are saying the Bobcats’ plans include more than just a lottery pick. They also may turn to free agency, the goal being to get veteran players to guide the youth movement while contributing on the court.
The target list could include the likes of forwards Antawn Jamison and Grant Hill, who spent the past few years with Cleveland and Phoenix, respectively. Both are former All-Stars with strong North Carolina connections – Jamison played his high school ball in Charlotte and collegiately at North Carolina, while Hill played just down the road at Duke.
Both are also said to have a good relationship with Jordan, which might override the fact they’re considered at least slightly past their primes (Jamison turns 36 next week, Hill turns 40 in October). So the scuttlebutt is both might be willing to help Jordan out at a bargain basement price.
“Michael is sick of hearing the talk about being a less-than-stellar evaluator of talent, and who can blame him? He’s sick of his team getting throttled,” said a Western Conference executive. “You couldn’t fault him and his front office for just plugging the dyke for a year. Signing some veterans might do that.”
That GM makes a valid point, as anyone who scans the Bobcats’ roster can see there are holes everywhere. Former coach and current analyst Jeff Van Gundy even stated recently that they don’t have a top-15 player at any position, which would be hard to argue.
“As far as trades go, there aren’t a lot of options,” said one scout. “I mean, you’d have to move (Bismack) Biyombo or Gerald Henderson or Kemba Walker, and those are the three pieces you really want for the future.”
Same goes for the second overall draft choice.
That leaves free agency, and while the Class of 2012 isn’t exactly bringing GMs and fans to the edge of their seats, it does include more than its fair share of solid veterans who are likely on the verge of a pay cut.
"Jamison, Hill, Ray Allen … the list isn’t over the top, but it is serviceable,” said one GM. “Under most circumstances, guys like these wouldn’t even consider an option like (the Bobcats). But a lot of these guys grew up idolizing Michael. They might be willing to end their careers helping his franchise get on the right track.”
There’s been talk that the Bobcats might be willing to move the No. 2 pick to Memphis in a package for small forward Rudy Gay, but according to sources, it’s just been talk. “It seems the rumors about Gay (being on the trading block) are true,” one source said. “And the Bobcats are one team that could take on his salary. But a trade would be complicated.”

Re: Trading the #2 pick - dicussion (merged)
I do see Antwan Jamison as a guy who would really like to return to NC and play for the Bobcats but you would have to see about the contract and what he would be looking for. Say you trade #2 and Tyrus for some combination of Gay and draft picks. You draft a Perry Jones or Tyler Zeller with the middle pick you get pack (look at my previous Philly scenario) and you sign Jamison to a 2 year deal. The lineup would look like this:
Kemba/Hendo/Gay/Jamison/Biyombo with possibilities of Wroten (25th pick), Williams, Maggette, (P Jones/Zeller/T. Jones), and Mullens off the bench. What would that look like? Is that returning to the same mediocrity that we had been trying to get away from? You probably could argue it would. However I do think it has the potential to at least be an improved team with still a lot of young talent. I still would like the potential of Kemba and Jamison together. I still would love the potential Biyombo brings to the floor and the continued improvement from Hendo. If you are able to nab a guy like Perry Jones, who some think could still prove to be a "star", and you develop him on the bench behind Jamison, then maybe he becomes something as well. WOuld this be going in the right direction? I would guess that is likely a playoff team (8th seed) but does it have the potential to be more with some free agent pieces? Could it attract talent via free agency? These are all questions Cho would have to feel confident in answering yes to.

If we did this, then take Barnes at #7. Starting lineup would be Kemba, Hendo, Barnes, Lee and Biyombo. That would be a solid starting 5.

Re: Trading the #2 pick - dicussion (merged)
I'm just not too jazzed about bringing in oldie goldies for a farewell tour a la Robert Parish. I want vets who can contribute longer term and be productive (like Lou Williams).
It's no surprise that Cho is casting bread on the water...he's a sharp guy. They will explore multple options, and if the right scenario emerges, a deal could get done well before draft night.
Somebody must fall IN LOVE with a player badly enough to overpay. We know NO will not give up Davis & #1 unless it's a certified insane offer. Short of that we control the board. Therefore, we either get an offer that is value exceeding the pick, or just stay at 2. Getting rid of Thomas has a cost, and unfortunately MJ will not likely cash out via amnesty. So, making Tyrus part of a deal becomes a hit on our value. I just hate taking on crap to get rid of crap. At least Mags and Diop are in their last year.
This is why I'd almost prefer not including Tyrus in anything. Treat him like we've had to treat Diop. Work with him and encourage him to get healthy and improve his game. Likely he becomes an expensive reserve, but at least it's money being used, not thrown away in a bad deal for another complicated problem.

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Seems as though Barnes is a lock for #4 with Cleveland. If you did that though, again I'll go back to the Gay trade. I would feel much more comfortable giving up #7 + Tyrus for Gay, especially with Lee also being brought in.
Kemba/Hendo/Gay/Lee/Biyombo. Now THAT is a lineup that could do a lot of damage in the East. Probably a pipe dream though.

If we're not taking Drummond, I'm glad we're considering trading down. But please don't let it be to pick Zeller. The dream is still the Portland trade. If we walked out of this draft with 2 out of PJ3/Lamb/White/Ross (w/out it being both Lamb & Ross which wouldn't make a ton of sense), I'd be thrilled.

2 things i think i think.....
1) from knowing some of Antawn Jamison's family & friends i know he would like to finish his career in his hometown of Charlotte playing in front of his parents if the Bobcats have any interest in him and a championship team doesnt give him an offer he cant refuse.....
2) I know im in the minority here but i truly expect this team to make a move/splash that is gonna drive alotta people on this board nuts, i know the majority here is with "continue to suck, build slow plan" but i think with the all the bad publicity they've received nationwide and then missing out on Anthony Davis, I think long term that is still the plan to build thru the draft, but they have to show some kinda goodwill sign to the city of Charlotte and the paying customer so i expect the rebuild to be accelerated a little bit... I dont know what Memphis is wanting in return and doubt if anyone will just absorb Rudy Gay's whole contract, IMO the most they can look for is savings this year and to shorten the time period of his contract, but i expect Charlotte to make a serious run at him....dont know if the #2 pick has to be included to make that happen and i hope it doesnt but i expect them to try to add a young veteran and a prospect or 2 thru the draft.... Davis was the only way you could've come away with 1 player and this city would have been excited about the draft, that didnt happen and their was a collective moan from the city...mix that with the worse season in NBA history and some of the worst basketball ever seen i just have a feeling there gonna try to make a little splash this offseason....

I wouldn't be surprised if we took on a little salary in a trade this year b/c we're less likely to use it on a FA IMO.
