Deron Williams won't play for the Bobcats. Nets won't give away their best players for that package. And DJ Augustine would be an overpaid back up.

Why would they want to? Rich Cho wants to build a sustainable model similar to the Thunder. He's not gonna rush this process.

uh that team couldnt guard my kid's Y team. No way you make the playoffs running that out there every night. Also no chance Deron signs there.

Maggette and Jamison aren't even acceptable backups at this point.

You have at most 5 credible rotation players in that lineup: Williams, Lopez, Augustine (backup quality PG) Carter (backup SG/SF) and maybe Thomas or Reggie Williams.

With only 2 starters not among the worst in the league and a weak bench even Deron + Howard would struggle to make the playoffs.

Magette and Jamison are def backup quality players and both are more rotation worthy than Vince Carter. Team is still terrible of course but Maggette and Jamison can still score and that skill will always have value.

When I read the title, I chuckled.
When I read the thread, I laughed.

Deron would never go to the Bobcats.

Turning The Bobcats into A Playoff team Next Season.

The Cats aren't going to try to be a playoff team next year, nor should they. Recent history has pretty much shown that the only way to get to contender status is to build slowly through the draft and make smart trades - look at OKC, San Antonio, Chicago; even Boston wouldn't have been in a position to trade for KG and Ray if they hadn't spent several years building and developing young assets. The only one that doesn't fit the rule is Miami, for obvious reasons.

That team wouldn't make the playoffs anyhow. They play terrible D and the lineup is filled with shot jackers who won't share the ball.

CHAR isn't far enough under the salary cap to take on about $27 million and only send out $5.3 million.

Other than that...
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

No way that would happen with Gay's contract.

I like Gay as a player but no team that wants to rebuild properly would take on a contract like that unless it was a superstar.

Until MJ gets out of the way, expect to be a cellar dweller. Loved him as a player but we have better instincts for talent evaluation. I saw some love for Kemba Walker on the Houston board. Package him with something else Charlotte wants off the books for Lowry and Dalembert's unguaranteed deal to hasten tearing it down and building it right. Kemba is a bust in waiting. This would allow them to trade Augustin in a sign and trade and unload another toxic contract in the process for an expiring and some picks. I love the idea of signing Jamison for one year on the cheap and covering some of his warts with a defensive center and wing up front.

Step 1: Lobby NBA to expand playoffs to include all 30 teams.

Success!

[color=#808000]Let me take a stab at this cuz.

1. We trade the #2, 31, Tyrus Thomas and Diop to Memphis for Rudy Gay.
2. Trade Corey Maggette, DJ Augustine, and Portland's future pick to New Orleans for Emeka
Okafor and 10.
3. At 10 we select Austin Rivers.
4 Sign Goron Dragic
5. Sign Antwan Jamison
6. Hire Jerry Sloan as Coach
7. Sign Grant Hill

Line up:

Kemba, Dragic, Rivers
Hendo, Rivers, Hill
Gay, Hill, Jamison,
Jamison, Biz, Hill
Okafor, Biz, Mullens

With the steady decline of the Hawks, and Dwight likely to be out anytime I think this team might be able to steal the eigth spot. This team has plenty of scoring options, so Kemba's assists and field goalpercentage should sky rocket.

Why does Memphis do this? They get two picks in a deep draft, and clear salary.

Why doe New Orleans do this? It is already in the press that New Orleans might trade the ten to clear salary. By next summer they would hav dumped Okafor's entire contract unless they decid to keep home town Augustine.
