Can very well see a team in front of us feeling like he can play C and drafting him. Actually, I wouldn't even be surprised if he is drafted ahead of us based on the merits of him playing his natural position of PF.
Toronto Raptors: Where winning culture is developed after finishing 23-43... So much better than 20-46 because THAT is a disappointing season.

It's not even a fair comparison, but every time I think of Sullinger I picture Boris Diaw 2.0

That a horrible comparison. Their games are very different.

If Sullinger is the BPA, I hope we trade the pick.
I believe in Masai.

The last prospect I remember going from being hyped up to being put under the microscopre so thoroughly that the hype turned to a backlash and he slid was Brook Lopez. Mayo, Beasley, Joe Alexander and DJ Augustin are not better than Brook Lopez and I won't be surprised at all if 1 or 2 players are taken ahead of Sullinger in this draft that won't end up being as good pros as he'll be either.
I just hope it's not us picking the wrong guy ahead of him.

Another hyped up prospect that slipped after returning for another yr (his 3rd I believe) was Hibbert. If Sullinger is there, we should take the BPA.
I think LIllard, Waiters, and Lamb are decent prospects, but not as solid as Sullinger

haha hence why I said it's not a fair comparison. I just get the image of Diaw. Maybe cause Sully has a similar build. Not 2012 Diaw mind you but early years.

Maybe in the fact that they both had weight issues but Diaw has no where near the frame (especially lower body) of Sully.

Weight is down too. Hard to see how he isn't a top 8 talent.

Re: Raptors NBA Draft Thread: Jared Sullinger
He has a wide array of moves (inside/outside/bangin) and is probably the most polished PF offensively in this draft, I had the pleasure to watch A LOT of Ohio State games. It's sad that he'll probably be taken 10-15. Would be a great fit here if we didn't have Bargs, but we do. He is going to put up atleast Millsap numbers in his career, I don't see him as a Glenn Davis.

RAPS IN 4.

Re: Raptors NBA Draft Thread: Jared Sullinger
The raptors asset investment debate is like comparing a penny stock portfolio, ie. draft picks and lots of them struggling for value. Junk bonds ie. treadmill has-beens. Pseudo diversified assets ie. some assets parading as blue chip and a lot of other under performing items. Somehow teams like Dallas do the latter and are competitive. When we do a Dallas we get killed. Why? Because we don't have the draft base to hedge our bets. BC traditionally is a Dallas kind of reloader and retrofitter. That is why we all get set for this kind of Fruitman Gay-Iggy offseason. If we look at why we suck it so clear. We didn't pick Iggy. We didn't pick Granger. We didn't pick Hibbert and we didn't pick Gay. Sullinger is the only player in the top 10 that has a legit chance of being a David West. If we pick him and keep him we would go against our trend of repeating big misses. It makes no sense to me that the wrong pick in a draft year should in any way block a pick which arguably is one of the better bets to actually pan out. Sullinger would be a very good pick and if we want to wheel and deal lets move out the stuff that can be improved upon.

This is how I feel, too, and that's why I don't want the Raptors to pass on him. If he's available I would take him and deal with the logjam. You've got to go BPA when you're as bad as the Raptors, and given who is projected to be available at 8, I think Sullinger is the best of the bunch.
He's put up great numbers, displayed NBA-ready low-post moves and a great motor against tough competition. He measured out just fine and by all accounts interviewed great.
There's always 25-35 minutes available for a big man off the bench in the NBA, not to mention the inevitable injuries to starters. The way I see it, moving a player like Ed Davis would be much easier then drafting another player like Sullinger.
That's why Sullinger's my pick at 8 if he's available and both Barnes and Beal are off the board (which is most likely).

Re: Raptors NBA Draft Thread: Jared Sullinger
You can never have enough quality bigs, and Sullinger is a quality big. If it creates a log jam, you move Amir and make a package around either Ed or Bargs with Demar to bring in the wing player you want.
That being said, I really hope Beal somehow drops to us, because that would be the best case scenario. Or trade up to land him.

Re: Raptors NBA Draft Thread: Jared Sullinger
I think he could be a good pro but he is a big reach at 8.
Baby Davis is a perfect comparison for him. These are big body types, nothing like Milsap. Even Bass probably has more swerve and agility. Maybe a Haslem.
Could be a nice piece in the right system but not a top 3 guy on a good playoff team. 8 is too high to take him. I see him as a 15-20 pick.
