I do not know if Portland would do this unless they were really targeting somebody in the top 4 badly, but

Gee is a FA...free agency signings happen after the draft so that deal isn't possible. Plus, you can't just S/T him without his permission.

Varejao's getting up there, he'll be 30 when next season starts. He had a nice year but I wouldn't do it, even if you could S&T Gee. I'm not sure I'd trade 11 and 15 for 7 either. Maybe 15 and Thad for 7 depending who's there, but not both picks. And you wouldn't know who's there, since #4 is involved. 6ers lose out in that trade (IMO). I don't think Portland would do it either. Cleveland makes out like a bandit.

I also think it's crazy to think Brook Lopez can play PF. Offensively yes, on D that would be a disaster. His feet are stuck in mud defensively. I guess you could flip Varejao and him defensively since Anderson is very good on D.
Only move I like there is signing Eric Gordon.

The Bulls are evidently looking for a combo guard. And there's no guarantee that Lamb will be on the board when they pick.
How about that S&T Lou-for-Korver deal I mentioned?

You need way better value than that if you are going to use Lou in a S/T. I'd much rather just let Lou walk and use the cap space on a better player. Korver way on the decline and never really had much talent to begin with.

There is a lot of talk the Bulls will dump Korver this off-season anyhow.

Re: Fantasy trade thread: new trade threads merged to here
Well Korver is an expiring, and my thinking has been that the Sixers should wait until 2013 to spend $. In the meantime, our halfcourt offense would be a lot less ugly.
But yea I admit it's not the best or most consequential trade.

I would definitely do this trade. Not sure if Portland would though. Matthews is that pure shooting guard we need, plays good defense too.
Also, to me Thad has no place on this team anymore. If we re-sign Allen I see no point in keeping him, he can't rebound, can't defend and I think his scoring can be replaced by Allen and Vucevic off the bench.

We can't sign and trade Williams for draft picks. It's not possible, as stated above.

Re: Fantasy trade thread: new trade threads merged to here
One quick note: This trade relies on the Celtics wanting to rebuild around players other than Rondo and the Thunder wanting to save a little bit of cap and get a better fit than Westbrook and Durant.
THE TRADE
BOS:
IN: Andre Igoudala (14), Jrue Holliday (2.6), Serge Ibaka (2.2)
OUT: Rajon Rondo (11) and #22
CAP: +7.8
OKC:
IN: Rajon Rondo (11), Nic Vucevic (1.7), #22
OUT: Russell Westbrook (15) and Serge Ibaka (2.2)
CAP: -4.5
PHL:
IN: Russell Westbrook (15)
OUT: Andre Igoudala (14), Jrue Holliday (2.6), and Nic Vucevic (1.7)
CAP: -2.7
THE REASONS
BOSTON: If Boston really wants to get rid of Rajon Rondo for young players (and one vet) than this works out well for them. Boston gets a young PG who showed lots of promise the year before, also on a cheap contract, one of the best young PFs in the league who is a shot block specialist and is also on a cheap deal, and veteran Andre Igoudala who's perimeter defense is second to none. They would have a good young core with two old veterans leading the way in Andre Igoudala and Paul Pierce. If they resigned Bass, they would not only have a great front court, but a strong backcourt to go with it too.
THUNDER: Like Boston, the Thunder might decide to part ways with their young PG. The reason being, Westbrook last year took more shots than the second best player in the league, Kevin Durant. The Thunder have a very complete team right now, but are facing salary cap troubles. Since they must resign James Harden and Serge Ibaka, one or two players have to go. As much as parting ways with Ibaka sucks, it is a necessary evil. This way the Thunder save cap space and can extend James Harden to a lengthy, rich contract. They are also getting back, arguably, the best PG in the league. Rondo is a true PG. He nearly averages a double-double every game! He is the kind of player that can score with layups and of course, dish the ball out to Durant. They are also getting a second year center that looked really good when Spencer Hawes went down. The Thunder instantly become a better team in my opinion.
SIXERS: The Sixers probably make out the best from this deal, but that doesn't mean the deal doesn't make sense. Every team gets what they want, just the Sixers give up seemingly less. The Sixers are trading Iggy, Holliday, and Vuc for a top notch, young PG. There really is not much to it. They instantly become better and save cap space (not much). If they were to now let Lou walk and Amnesty Brand, then they would have lots of cap space. The Sixers are only left with Thad Young, Evan Turner, and Russell Westbrook after this deal, meaning they must go on a FA spree.
FREE AGENCY AFTER TRADE
BOSTON: They now have around 20 million in cap space to dish out. They have their PG, SG, SF, and PF, but no center. I believe they resign Brandon Bass to 4 years/28 million (2012: 6 million, 2013: 7 million, 2014: 7 million, 2015: 8 million). Now they have 14 million. I do not think that they would resign Ray Allen or Kevin Garnett. I actually think they would sign Lou WIlliams to 4 years/32 million (2012: 7 million, 2013: 8 million, 2014: 8 million, 2015: 9 million). Because they no longer have a great shooter, besides the aging Paul Pierce, they must find a pure shooter. Who better than the long time Sixer, Lou Williams. He may not play good defense... at all... but he provides scoring off the bench, something every team wants, and what's better than taking a player from you rival. Nothing. At this point I believe they sign minimal contracts to fill in depth.
OKC: The Thunder really would not have too much money after this to make a splash in FA, but they could use all their savings to resign James Harden. They basically only have 4.5 million in cap, but I predict they trade away a collection of Thabo and Aldrich for picks to save money. Now that they have Rondo, Thabo does not need to start, because they have less shooters. That makes him a little more expendable. They would then save 6 million. Add that to 4.5 and that is 10.5 million. Enough to extend James Harden to a 5 year/75 million dollar deal (2012: 13 million, 2013: 14 million, 2014: 15 million, 2015: 16 million, 2016: 17 million). That basically wipes out their whole cap.
SIXERS: The Sixers would be the most interesting team to watch in this deal, because they would have 32 million to spend after this deal. I foresee them signing a whole bunch of players. First, I see them signing Steve Nash to a 3 year/30 million dollar deal (2012: 9 million, 2013: 10 million, 2014: 11 million). The reason being, he can play point and push Westbrook out to SG. He is great distributer, like Rondo and is a savvy veteran. He would want to play for us, because we would now have a star. While I think that signing Roy Hibbert is next to imposible, I can see them snatching Brook Lopez and putting him on a 4 year/40 million dollar deal (2012: 9 million, 2013: 10 million, 2014: 10 million, 2015: 11 million). He provides scoring in the low post. The Sixers still have 14 million to spend now. I see them first getting a PF. What better than snatching up the Celtic's PF, Kevin Garnett. He will not be making the insane 21 million that he made in 2012. I can see him making around 11 million though. I would offer him a 3 year/33 million dollar deal (2012: 10 million, 2013: 11 million, 2014: 12 million). He would want to play on a winning team. Why not play for the Sixers? Now with 4 million dollars left, resign Lavoy Allen (2 million) and Jodie Meeks (500,000) and sign Kirk Hinrich (2 million). Also sign the #15 pick.
THE ROSTERS

THE TRADE

Re: Fantasy trade thread: new trade threads merged to here
Well, first of all you have the Sixers acquiring Russell Westbrook (who will apparently change positions), Steve Nash, Brook Lopez, Kevin Garnett, and Kirk Hinrich all in one offseason.
You then have the Thunder making a trade in which they clearly get worse -- the upgrade(?) from Westbrook to Rondo is not worth losing Ibaka.
Why would OKC mess with their core group of guys at this point in time?
The Celtics also get too much value for Rondo IMO. (3 guys who could be all-stars next year.)

What if I just take out Ibaka completely, and replace him with Thabo?

Re: Fantasy trade thread: new trade threads merged to here
The following would be my ideal offseason blueprint. It is semi-realistic IMO, and is based around the idea of A) waiting until next offseason to spend $$ and B) building for the future without tanking.
For starters...
- Re-sign Lavoy
- Let Hawes, Lou, and Meeks walk
- DON'T amnesty EB42
(Again, in this scenario the Sixers aren't signing any big names in 2012. Brand is a fat expiring contract as well as a class act who IMO can still contribute & have a positive influence on the young guys).
Trades...
- Trade Iguodala for the #8 pick, Ed Davis, and Jose Calderon. I'm a huge fan of Andre, & I'd be vehemently opposed to trading him for a guy like Pau Gasol or Rudy Gay. But if the Raptor's #8 pick (or the Warriors' #7 pick) is truly on the table, you must jump on it.
- Trade some combination of Nik Vucevic + one or both of our 2nd round picks for a late first rounder (let's say #24).
- Sign-and-trade Lou Williams for Kyle Korver... the Bulls are apparently looking for a combo guard, and Korver is an elite three point shooter who could be deadly sharing the backcourt with Jrue and ET. Plus he's an expiring contract.
That leaves you with a team of:
Jrue
ET
Lavoy
Thad
#8 or #7
#15
#24
Brand (exp)
Korver (exp)
Calderon (exp) & Davis (or whatever filler the Raptors/Warriors would throw in)
Plus a couple of random veteran's minimum guys... preferably a defensive wing (Sam Young?) and a rebounding/shot-blocking big (Joel Przybilla?).
Basically you're stockpiling young assets + cap space, while remaining somewhat competitive (adding Korver & keeping Brand) in 2012-2013 so as not to scare away any superstars who we could potentially acquire with said assets/cap space.
