Cavs offered #4, #24, #33 and #34 picks to NOH for #1 pick

Post#1 » by JS87 » Mon Jun 11, 2012 6:42 pm

The Cleveland Cavaliers offered four draft picks to the New Orleans Hornets for the right to draft Anthony Davis. A low lottery pick, a mid-range first rounder, and two premier second-round picks is not a terrible offer. But when the player is on the caliber of Anthony Davis, no offer is reasonable. Many analysts peg the consensus No. 1 overall pick to have a similar NBA career as Kevin Garnett.

When did 24 become mid-range?

AD would be a great addition to any team, but the Cavs should target MKG.

Irvin's outside shooting would go great with MKG's intangibles and defense.

Crap offer. I probably wouldn't take the 4 and a future first round unprotected.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

crap offer

They could get the 2nd pick for it though
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

Yea not a good offer.

They should just draft MKG or Drummond if they want another big.

lol - lebron or durant? AD hype getting nuts here. Great player but come on now - he has done nothing in the nba and is quite scrawny so likely to be pushed around, he has a limited post game and would have a tough time not being hacked.

If CLE was serious about trading for A Davis they'd put Irving and #4 on the table to start. I still think NOH says no quicker than CLE does.

MKG isn't worth all those picks. Overrated hustle player at the next level.

On topic: I doubt that was the Cavs serious offer for #1.

But, they could offer some combination of #4, #24, own unprotected 2013 or 2014 1st, Kings 1st rd pick (top10-14 protected next 4 years), Tristan Thompson, Varejao, etc., absorbing Okafor/Ariza's contract.

Still, the pick won't be traded.

Dell Demps traded Chris Paul for Luis Scola, Lamar Odom, and Kevin Martin. You can't blame the Cavs for testing their luck with another garbage offer for their 1st. Stern isn't there to run their team anymore.
