I'm assuming that they would want the 18 as well, at least.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

IIRC, there was a rumor last year claiming the Hornets wanted a late first round pick for Ariza.

Then I still don't follow. The report was that they wanted to ditch Ariza using the #10 but wanted a little something more. I figured Wes would give them a cheaper replacement for Ariza, someone that might be viewed around the league as still having some upside. Ridnour would also be a option.

So you think that Less Johnson could get you a top 10 pick AND a starting SF?

I think, and I think NOH agrees, that Ariza has negative trade value. Calling him a "starting SF" doesn't really change my mind. Wes is a "starting SF".

are you cereal krap? i could never fathom that...i would have a heart attack if we managed to turn wes into ariza(defo a starting 3 imo) and our pick back.

how about
derrick williams + martell + b-rad + #18 + 2013 memphis pick + lottery protected 2013 minnesota pick

or

gordon + ariza + #10

new orleans probably says no but would give then 3 years of rookie scale d-will with probably a 14-15 million dollar a year cap and money savings factoring in gordon's new contract & difference between #10 & #18. we take on a lot of money but get a starting 2-3 that compliment each other and the team as a whole extremely well and get a much greater choice of a very good prospect at #10. if ariza could capture that 4th option form he played so well for the lakers in the playoffs(knock down 3 point shooter, great defender) he would be an outstanding fit. new orleans has to believe DW can succesfully play the 3 next to davis at 4.

Take Terrence Ross at #10
Trade #18 & #58 to Cleveland for #24 & #34
Take Jeff Taylor at #24
Take Jared Cunningham at #34

Rubio/Barea/Lee
Ross/Cunningham/Ellington
Taylor/Ariza
Love/Williams
Pekovic/Okafor

Could re-sign Beasley or Randolph...?

Taylor is a first round pick? And switch Ariza and Taylor then, not that big of a deal. I think Taylor has a high floor and should have a relative high ceiling (if he can get down a consistent couple of scoring moves). Taylor is an exceptional athlete with great defense and good 3-pt %. Him and Cunningham had body fat below 4% at the combine I believe, so you know they are hard-workers. Ross also had very low body fat % and already has great size for a 2. We'd be stacked at PF, have two starting-quality C's, young athletic wings who should play off Rubio well and Rubio himself. A spark-plug in Barea and I think that can be a quality team.

I hope we can do a 3-team trade that sends #10 to Mavs for Beaubois and Wright to us, with Ridnour to Hornets while we take Ariza. Then use #18 to draft Royce White.

Rubio / Barea / Lee
Beaubois / Ellington
Ariza / White
Love / Williams
Pekovic / Wright

We'll still cap room for a starting SG a la Courtney Lee and more. We get a great shot-blocker on our frontcourt rotation, a good ball-handler and potentially good 3-pointer in Beaubois and a good defender in Ariza. Royce White is our new, but cheaper Beasley.

Really dont mind this...

I might go Harkless/Lamb over Ross and hope Rivers or Ross is there at 18..maybe move up once again..

2nd rounders can be Bought Portland at 40/41 might both be for sale as I think they keep 6 and 11

I do Like Taylor aswell and has jumped Miller

Another 3 team variation of this scenario:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6vomfeu

MIN In: Okafor / Mbah A Moute / 10th Pick

NOH In: Webster / Milicic / Miller / Livingston / Sanders / 12th Pick

MIL In: Ariza / Derrick Williams / 18th Pick

You guys can get Lamb or Ross at 10th and have your wings and interior rotation set, New Orleans can waive three unguaranteed contracts and buyout Darko while just dropping a couple spots, and Milwakee gets a slightly more expensive, slighty worse SF and drops a few spots in exchange for a good prospect in D-Will.

Who says no?

horrible for us, we DEFINITELY say no...we send williams and 18 for the right to pay okafor 13 or so million dollars to be a back up and move up 8 spots in the draft.

Wolves say hell no!

We give Derrick Williams and a ton of cap space and only to get the overpaid and unnecessary Okafor and a completely meaningless player in Mbah a Moute.

The #10 pick is nice but the collateral damage is terrible

IMO, you offer Ridnour and Webster + 18 for Ariza +10.

If they reject it, oh well. That is as far as I would go.

Ariza has way more value than Wes.
