How'd that work out for Beasley?

Beasley is not Lamb. Lamb is not Beasley. Beasley has ego issue. He doesn't play team ball. Lamb is totally different from that.

LAMB does have potential, i just hope he doesnt become a bust

Move Demar to SF and see how it pans out next year. Then make decision on whether to keep him or not.

W/ Lamb's skillset, its hardly he'll be a bust.

LOL Beasley's issue wasn't effort; it was that he is a headcase tweener.

I'm going to assume you're joking and not blind.

As for the D, great D requires constant attention and effort, which (right now anyway) aren't Lamb's strong suit. Plus he's rail thin, so he's going to pushed around an bullied even by mid-sized NBA players. He's got great potential on the defensive side of things, but he's not there just yet, nt at the NBA level.

Commentary from a site doesn't make a thing so either. It's tough to reconcile comments lauding his steals with his actual (very pedestrian) steal numbers. You'll notice that my main concerns defensively are right in the quoted text there too.

I think I may pass on this thread until my rose coloured glasses come in the mail. I feel really out of place without them on right now.[/quote]

You mean a draft prospect isn't NBA ready defensively? Whoa!

I don't know where this idea of Lamb dropping since the combine has come from. I haven't heard or read anything that says his stock is dropping. It's just fans being immature and making fun of the kids looks and interview skill. It's the same thing classless people did to MKG before they found out he had a speech impediment (BIG foot in the mouth there). Now, I don't think something is wrong with Jeremy, but just because the kid fails at interviewing doesn't mean he doesn't cut it on the court.

Also, if season performance was worth as much as people are making it worth for Lamb, then a guy like Lillard would be going undrafted since his team went no where. But what does Damien have in common with Jeremy? Talent. Period.

What the combine is really about the professionalism, and seriousness that the players approach the tasks and the interviews. It gives GM's a glimpse of how they could approach a basketball game in the NBA mentally. This is where Lamb didn't excel in and GM's aren't as high on him as they might have used to be.

For what it's worth, I've read that Lamb was tired from doing interviews for 6 hours straight.

I think we need to give Lamb a break. Not every 18-20 year old will be a professional speaker in front of cameras. Ever heard D-Rose talk? The guy isn't anything to write him about either.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

PJ3 doesn't have a clear cut position. He's just a tweener that doesn't use most of his skillset nor uses most out of his dominant physical features (e.g. elite athleticism and long length).

You've missed my point, which was that the line of reasoning has merit. Lamb was nice and aggressive on screens, but at a buck eighty-five that could go poorly for him at the NBA level. Plus the notion that he shies away from contact might suggest to some people that the increased physicality at the NBA level isn't something he'll deal well with. I'll admit to playing devil's advocate to certain extent here, but I'm not going to stick my head in the sand when it comes to a prospect's potential downside (and Lamb does have downside, regardless of how much kool aid you've had to drink)

Plus there's lots of tape where Lamb looks lost or like a cement head. Enough to keep him out of the convo for top three, which (if you'd be so kind as to scroll back) was the issue currently at hand.

You mean an NBA prospect needs to put on some size?

All Lamb's downfalls are honestly the easiest things to fix, and they're all COMMON in any prospect.

I'm still waiting for the back-breaking weakness. Something like, he can't dribble or can't shoot or can't jump or is too small, too slow. He has none of those weaknesses.

Lamb doesn't play team ball either, or at least has show every willingness not too when given the chance.

No one said they were identical either, Beasley was just the first loafer that popped into my head. So thanks for so adroitly refuting something other than my actual point. For what it's worth, I agree that Beasley and Lamb are not the identical physical beings.

It's pretty clear that 2-8 depends heavily on team needs this year. From 2-8, the talents aren't far off. This is why you keep hearing about teams want that talent to fit their 1 or 2 holes, or 3 hole. So far Beal's stock is higher than Lamb because of Beal's strong showing in the tourney. Lamb or River are fighting for the 2nd SG coming out of this draft. In between those spots, some want a big, some want a SF, some want a PG early. That's why Lamb's not in top 5-6.

Fell free to adress my actual point if you like. After that you can start getting shirty about me not replying to your purposefully slanted question.

Just to be clear, that would be the initial point that you obviously missed, since you haven't so far shown the faintest understanding of what I was talking about.

Elite wingspan, anticipation, body control, natural jumpshot mechanics. I don't know what you want from the 8th pick but you're not going to do much better than Lamb IMO.

What I really, really don't get is this notion that he had a bad college year. 18 points on 48% FG.

SIXTY PER CENT on two-pointers. 80% from the line. Natural shooter with an unblockable jumper, can create his own shot, athletic, quick, smart.

I must be crazy.

Interview. Interview is more important than skillsets and productions. Heck, interview is the most important thing in a basketball player's career.

austin rivers seemed like he aced it when answering questions to the media, cant see how it would possibly go wrong behind closed doors

He's a good talker, and someone who revolves his life around the similar environment (his dad, often engage w/ NBA people). So obvious he's not shy away from media talk. Talking slick and good to the media doesn't mean a lick to your game on the floor, cos when people talk all big but done nuthing on the court to back his actions up, then that's just not showing much.
