@MrMichaelLee

Harrison Barnes had a 39.5 inch vertica!?! Bradley Beal had a 39 & Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was a 35.5. These numbers surprise anyone else?

That's pretty unimpressive for MKG... Are you trying to talk us out of drafting MKG, so the wizards can draft him?

First things I noticed:

-Davis has small hands
-Ezeli and O'Quinn are definite targets with that 31 or possible trade into the late first.
-Meyers Leonard measured out very well. Could be a good target for a trade down
-Drummond is listed at 3.1.5/33.5 vertical. Nowhere near the 38+ that was being rumored
-Gilchrist measured very average across the board
-Beal did well athletically

Guys w/ his size and length don't need to jump as high as others to dunk the ball. JaVale McGee and DeAndre Jordan had similar vert numbers.

According to draft express:

As many suspected, there was an issue w/the original measurements the NBA released. Standing reaches were off by .5 to an inch. We're fixing 52 minutes ago

The more I consider it, I like Drummond with our pick.
1. We will still suck next year. With Drummond, that's ok, he will probably take a few years to develop anyway.
2. With a high draft pick next year, and key free agents either this off-season or next, we are targeting probably around year 3 to start being better. Three years ago, Durant and Westbrook were on a terrible terrible team, but once they added pieces like Harden, Ibaka, Perk, they picked it up. Drummond can be an early piece.
3. With Sloan (assuming we hire him) he is a teacher, and I have more confidence in him teaching and molding someone like Drummond rather than Silas or even LB or Sam Vincent.
4. I want someone who can be in the top three at his position. Someone who can have the potential to make all star teams. Drummond can do it. I don't think T-Rob ever will. Or MKG.
5. Could he bust? Sure he could. But I'd rather try and go big rather than be safe. More and more, mediocre is the worst place to be in the NBA. T-Rob's ceiling is David West. Drummond's is Dwight.
6. I don't WANT to be good next year. I don't want a guy with good production next year to get us to mediocreness and a mid 1st roudn pick. I want someone young, raw, and with big upside so that when he develops, he's a star. I also want someone who will take 3 years, because I want a top 3 pick for the next two years. That's the definition of Drummond.
7. Center is the hardest position to get. Let's get ours.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

Of the prospects at the top of the draft (Beal, Robinson, MKG, Barnes, Drummond) one of them beat all of the others in the sprint, bench, max vert, no step vert, and came in 2nd in agility. Can you guess?

It's Harrison Barnes. Not saying we should draft him but I think its worth pointing out he is more athletic than people gave him credit for.

I agree with the sentiment but Barnes will be able to use his athleticism better in the pros than in college. His role in Roy's system was to be a spot up shooter. He succeeded largely in that role. If can improve his handle to just be average he'll be able to make some noise driving the lane with his size, vert, and speed.

Festus has a smaller max vert than he does a no step vert!

Barnes is the only player I see being able to contribute in a big way for any team that picks him. Drummond is raw, Davis is raw, Robinson has suspect size for his position, so does Beal and MKG who I dont see as comparable to G. Wallace. G. Wallace was alot more athletic, MKG seems to be more skilled.

Barnes on the other hand has the size and athleticism to play his position and he can score from anywhere on the court. He could easilly be the rookie of the year playing for a Bobcat team where he can average anywhere from 14--20 ppg.

I like Drummond but I also think Rivers has star potential all over him, especially if he's used as a PG.

I always enjoy seeing these numbers. Some things that stand out to me:

Barnes – just wow at the his sprint and max vertical numbers. Great bench number. Fastest sprint time of the combine. Highest body fat numbers of anyone with a thread as a prospect here. Hand size was also a bit different from most other prospects. He has long thin hands vs the broader hands of most of the other prospects.

Beal – very impressed with is max vertical & athletic numbers in general. He’s super close to Lamb on a bunch of stuff and athleticism seemed to be one of the few knocks on him. Really liked that he was able to out bench a bunch of other prospects including MKG, Lamb, and more.

Drummond – He’s big, but the bench number seems a bit low … and his hands are tiny for his size. Lowest max vertical number of any of the top 5 prospects. Sprint speed was NOT impressive.

MKG – After seeing the video of him in the gym I was expecting more. Lame bench numbers. Looked pretty average as far as the rest of them went with the exception of his sprint speed. 3rd fastest sprint this year.

Robinson – He has huge hands, probably the 2nd or 3rd largest overall this year. His Max Vertical is respectable … but his no step vertical is terrible. Seems odd to me, but whatever that is I’m sure it has an impact on his block numbers. Unless he gets a running start or has a height advantage he’s not going to be out-jumping other players. But if he is moving he’s fine. Bench numbers were solid. Very fast sprint numbers, with the 2nd fastest time this year.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

It makes sense. Man, that trade would work out great for the Cavs. They can draft Drummond and another quality lottery player. Drummond will do great along side kryie Irving.

Guess we can kiss that trade secnario goodbye.

Why? If they would do that for four. They probably jump at 2.

chase budinger has a 40 inch vert. some people use that athleticism better than others....barnes is not one of those people

I can't wait to see you people :o when Barnes turns out to be one the best players in the draft. The athletisim he displayed in the combine over turns the only critisim of his game.

what happened to drummond's 38 inch vert?...draftexpress has it listed as 33 i have seen the kid go between his legs and dunk the ball.

That's not really all that impressive at the nba level. Josh McRoberts can do that.

Dude there is no chance at all of us being good next year. This team won seven games last year. If we got the number one pick we still would have been lucky to win 30 games. Sloan will benefit our rookies no matter who they are. And David West is not T-Rob's ceiling. I don't know where that nonsense came from. T-Rob's ceiling is a taller Larry Johnson. The only resemblence between T-Rob and DWest is their heights. T-Rob is quicker, a better rebounder, and a better driver than West right now. When he gets his shots to fall more consistently he will be better than West by default.

One reason not to pick Drummond is this. If we get shafted and get the number two pick again next year, and someone else gets Shabazz who do we pick? The next two best players are both centers. You guys are so excited because someone said that Drummond has Dwight Howard potential. Guess what? There is very little chance that Drummond will reach that potential when every time he has a chance to show his potential he disappoints. Dwight was blowing people's minds coming out of highschool, by deed as well as potential.

Why are you worried about this already? It's not like there are only three players in next years drafts. Who knows if some other guys come along and are good enough to be our pick. I say go big or go home. Drummond it is. The dude is the next Dwight Howard. You can't pass him up because you're worried that you'll be stuck with another center in 2013.

Both of you are overly optimistic.

Drummond is not the next Dwight Howard is the next head scratching bigman. Dwight was so good that everybody wanted him. He was a unamimous number one pick in all the mocks. This kid is steady dropping.

im now on the harrison barnes bandwagon

1A)t-rob
1B)Harrison Barnes

Barnes combine numbers that hes still very raw despite his past production, to me he is now easily the 2nd best prospect in this draft
