Sadly, if he does prove to be an SF chances are he'll be taken before 8. Not unlikely he drops, but if he really impresses in workouts what are the odds that other GMs don't think along the same lines as BC?

so, if someone takes him early good for them we get whoever drops

I'm back. I'm good again. Resist PJIII!

The thing is that Jones is a hell of a lot more skilled than Thomas ever was

you really think who ever drops is going to be better? Players that high in the lottery don't drop without a reason.

I had intentions on arguing why you all should draft Perry Jones but then I realized he will not be there with the 8th draft selection anyway so good luck with whoever else you guys are considering.

20pgs later, everyone is a PJ III believer all of a sudden. Funny what a couple workouts can do eh?

I think Raptors are in a win-win situation. If in fact PJ III is taken before the 8th pick, it'll most likely mean there's a chance a player like Harrison Barnes is available. If not, you roll the dice with PJ III.

This is going to be one exciting off-season, so much waiting though :(

To be honest, I've hated the thought of drafting PJII, but if he can give GMs confidence after workouts and interviews, he's the only guy in the draft I wouldn't deal the pick for. The prospect of having a 6'11" skilled SF is too much to pass up on. I think he could be really good under Casey... if he embraces the coach and actually listens and works hard to improve. His attitude is the determining factor in this draft.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

Baylor played zone. His defensive stats will be lower because of that, but that doesn't make him a poor defender. Similar situation for most Syracuse players.

Fab Melo was 6th in the NCAA in blocks per 40 minutes.

Undefeated wrote:Seriously, people need to stop overrating how skilled of a player PJ3 is. He's NOT that skilled.

But HE'SSSSSS SOOOOOOOOO Skilled BRO!!! He can dribble like a wing and shoot lights out from 3. He's Kevin Durrant yo. His college coach just misused him. He's Kevin Durant and not Anothy Randolph.

Really though, he's probably gona be a below average player for his first 4 years or so. If he has a good coach that manages to get him to be a self motivated player he could be special, but I highly doubt that happens in his first 4 years in the league.

I'm just shocked that he doesn't even sound like he's on our board...not because I want him but I would have thought for sure BC would be infactuated with him.

Perry Jones is way more athletic than Earl Clark.

Other than athleticism, they are pretty much the same

Insane hops. Too bad for him he actually has to do other things like play basketball, and play it intelligently, aggressively, and intensely.

He should be a high jumper in the Olympics or something. Or he could come in handy when my Grandma can't reach the jar she left on top of the coberts.

If I remember correctly Clark was a point guard that had a big growth spurt. Very talented for a big guy, but who knows what goes on in his head much like PJ3. I think Clark has better handles (could be wrong).

I've been watching this kid for two years and I'm intrigued. It seems awfully quiet on his front- either they really want him or they really don't. I know Colangelo's been scouting him extensively since last year so... what gives now? Won't even bring him in for a workout (as of today)? Peculiar. Conspiracy theories abound.

The questions about his 'motor' are media talking points imo. I'm not sure how valid they are, but the one thing you can't forget when it comes to Jones' red flags is any background/inside information that could be gained from teammate- er, Toronto scout?- Brady Heslip (Triano's nephew). When it's all said and done, whether 'we' pick him or not, we should have an absolutely unique perspective on Perry. We should feel more confident than virtually any other team in ascertaining the legitimacy of the concerns, especially as they relate to intangibles like motor and leadership that are typically revealed in practice, on the road and in the locker room- not at draft workouts. In that sense, we might very well enjoy a competitive advantage here ... but I don't know which way we're leaning yet.

Yeah, we're not drafting PJIII, it seems like we're big on high motor/attitude. Wouldn't surprise me if BC blames the Ed Davis pick on him playing with a weak motor and heart, add that to Casey and we're staying away
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change
