You think there's any chance the show interest in Chris Kaman in FA? Definitely an upgrade over Spencer and possibly cheaper due to age. I'm not endorsing him, but if they are looking to re-tool the roster and not go young, he's a guy who give you scoring from the C spot and he's always been a good rebounder.

i dont think we get 8 from toronto without giving 15 unless toronto's stance changes. I like calderon but doesnt solve a primary need.

i think its too early to say exactly what they are doing...there are many scenarios they are working thru.

Will they pull a trigger on a trade before they go after Deron or is Deron the first order of business?

I would love Gasol more 2 years ago.. He is 32 now, right? and he has 2 years left in his contract, so in 2 years we are again in the middle of nowhere..
But he is definitely one of the smarter and most talented PFs in the league..

-- The 76ers (No. 15) are also open to trading out of the first round for a veteran, as are the Rockets with their second first-rounder (No. 16), multiple sources have said.

can you ask your buddy if they are even looking at lamb and why or why not?

i think hes easily the best SG prospect in this entire draft... aside from beal i suppose, but even beal is somewhat small for the position

they would trade andre before draft or free agency if the deal was to their liking. Deron is far fetched..they will have money to give deron if he wants to come here by amnesty of brand. Its up to him if he wants to come here.

I believe the #15 thing too but alot of teams are willing to do that.....no one wants to draft and everyone wants vets.....tough market to accomplish that. Thats why i think they just sit there and take guy they like best at 15.

i would welcome gerald green here as SF... that would be a perfect fit at SF.. he can most definately hit the 3 and allow turner to stay at the 2 guard...

jrue
turner
green
jefferson
and someone?! a rookie?

not bad

i dont want pau with his age

and wow we BETTER NOT trade out of the first

Give me Gasol over Jefferson any day of the week. He plays on both ends of the court and would be under team control for 2 more years.

Assuming Deron says no and we remain terrified of Gordon's knees, it's hard to see how we get that scorer at the point or wing from the Brand amnesty. I suppose lopsided trades to take on unwanted salaries are an option, but do we want to take on Joe Johnson or Kevin Martin? Are we overbidding on the Humphries/O.J. Mayo package?

BTW, I don't want to overpay him, but I think it will be hard to replace what Lou does now with a mid-first round pick. If we could get a quality bench guy for our pick, I'm all for it.

Green isn't a SF in the league. He's a SG. He's an awful defender at SG....even worse as a SF. Turner is way more built to play SF than Green is.

It we would funny if we spent all this time discussing the draft and who to take if the Sixers do in fact trade the pick for a veteran.

Sixerfan, I realize that Philly would be OK with Jefferson or Gasol, but did you get any indication if all things be equal, they would prefer to obtain Jefferson/Watson or Gasol? I'm just curious if they had to pull the trigger on one, which one appeals to them more. I assume that you don't know, but perhaps I just missed it.

gotat run after this.....but last thoughts based on last few posts

i think we keep the pick....unless someone really wants a player there........last years the spurs got kawhi leonard for george hill..would have to be something like that i guess if it was done.......but i think we just take a guy we think can contribute relatively soon

i dont know which they prefer between jefferson and gasol.....i think i like utah slightly more.....but i am a big fan of gasol(albeit he is older)

i think they would be happy with either.....as would i.

I am totally out of the loop on this ferry/thorn stuff...i get no comment everytime i ask...so i dont bother asking.....

The crazy thing is if there was one team that could compete for a title and beat the Thunder and Heat for the next 5 years it would be a Deron-Iguodala-Howard led team with Lou as our Harden. Deron matches up against Wade and Westbrook, Iggy against Bron and Durant and Dwight against Bosh and Perkins/Ibaka. I have no clue whether we would have enough money to bring that team together or if our front office would have the balls to pull it off, but that would make us an automatic title contender for a long time. I for one would love to have Gasol, but he's towards the end of his career and I'm positive he would be pissed as all hell to leave LA to come to freezing cold Philly. If we could manage to trade Jrue for Gasol and then throw the max at Deron to have a Deron-Iggy-Gasol trio I'd be down though. We could draft Ross to be our shooter on the wing and either start Lavoy/Vuc or sign someone else cheap.

Keep the pick.
Save the money in cap space until we find someone that is worth spending it on. If not this year then keep Brand and let him mentor Levoy.
Trade iggy for picks and a young player.
Stay the course and don't go for a quick 1 year or 2 year fix that ultimately does nothing for us
long term. If the goal is to seriously compete for and win a championship you have to have a long
range plan. Right now this team looks like it is flapping in the wind. A nice playoff run had to generate a nice piece of revenue, which I have to believe would be had to give up in the 2012-2013 season. But in order to get ahead long term, going young and collecting assets, if done correctly, will yield a bigger return.

But with that being said. If the FO does not feel they can make the right decisions and build a championship team then by all means go for a quick fix and another 2nd or 1st round exit.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way. (Marlo)

Sixerfan, you mentioned earlier the trade with Portland, us sending Iggy getting Batum AND Matthews in return, nothing on it? why not to trade Turner and Thad for Al Jefferson?

Do the Sixers thing Deron would have any interest in signing here?
