re-sign and trade. He'll cost about 9mil a year, Matthews 6, total of 15 same as Iggy.

$9 million a year (maybe even with raises) for Nic Batum? Yuck.

We need to find a legit SG or PF who can put up 20 points a game, I don't wanna trade iggy because that would be taking 2 steps back I just don't have faith in ET to be our SF. We might have to take a chance on a Eric Gordon or a Tyreke Evans, SixerFan1976 said there was talk about ET for Tyreke Evans to me that's was a no brainer to me.

Agree, I would trade ET if it would really bring us a scorer like Gordon or Evans. I like Gordon much more, even tho he had an injury

Yeah, that is definitely putting that mild.

Anyway we could package Iguodala and Turner for Tyreke Evans and the 5th pick?

Sixerfan, is there any interest in Ersan Ilyasova or Nicolas Batum as free agents? Could we possibly get them both (starting salary ~$9M each?) if we amnesty Brand (and strike out on Deron Williams)?

PG Jrue Holiday / Cheap FA (Jodie Meeks?)
SG Andre Iguodala / Evan Turner
SF Nicolas Batum / Thaddeus Young
PF Ersan Ilyasova / Lavoy Allen
C Arnett Moultrie (#15 pick) / Nikola Vucevic

I think that could be an improved team as soon as next year, with a ton of young talent all over the roster that hopefully would continue to get better, and great shooting throughout the starting lineup. Holiday, Iguodala, Batum, and Ilyasova can all hit the 3 pointer, and Moultrie has great shooting range for a big man. We'd probably be soft up front, but I'd be excited about a lineup like this if we go for the "2004 Pistons" model since we probably can't get a superstar.

Portland won't let Batum go for what you proposed we pay him. He's restricted so they would match that. They love him there.

I wonder how high Portland would go to match an offer. Offering Batum a starting salary of $9M with max raises would be a 4 year ~ $40M deal I think. Sure they love him, but would they really match that high of an offer? I think it might give them pause.

that might indicate that it wouldn't be smart to pay him that much. he's a really weak defender.

Completely disagree that he's "a really weak defender". As far as wing guys go, I think he's clearly an above average defender.

disagree. maybe really weak is an overstatement, but i've always been very unimpressed with his defense. his awful defensive +/- numbers the last two years (worse than -4 both years) bear that out as well. he does have the length though.

certainly not worth 10 million a year

Where can you see those defensive stats you're referencing?

Oh, the dreaded +/- stat to determine defensive worth. I would have hoped Jodie Meeks taught us something about that stat. One of the worst tools to judge a player by IMO

Over a game maybe but over the course of a 4,000+ minute sample size it starts to gain traction. Plus I've watched him and haven't thought much of his defense. Not as bad as the numbers say, but still below average.

Batum wasn't some scrub that got screwed by playing with end of bench guys. He averaged 30+ mpg the last two years and started 111 games. And his number wasn't just bad. It was one of the worst in the league at his position the last two years. You don't want to give a guy $10 million a year with that kind of red flag. It ends badly.

I do think Batum is one of the more overrated guys in the league. Yeah's he's long and athletic, but he's just not that spectacular. He does play good defense, at least IMO, and shoots the ball pretty well but he isn't going to be a #1 or #2 option on a team that's worth a damn.

Regarding Batum..

Haven't we learned anything with Iguodala? We shouldn't invest at the icing before the cake!

Big fan of Batum...not sure he's worth $10 million, but he's the type of ing player you need if you're going to contend.
