I once got my shot blocked by Alonzo Mourning. And I got dunked on by Grant Hill.

I got dunked on by Bob Sura when I was in college. But also I abused then FSU starting PG Kerry Thompson in a intense pickup game and hit the game winning shot in his grill.

I won my first HS baseball game in a baseball tourney played in RFK stadium. It was the first game I played in after mother passed away a week earlier. I pitched in relief and struck out the first five batters i faced. I still have the game ball that all my teammates signed. :)

I guess I am the only one on here who's highlight included representing the city of Washington DC and the Bullets. :D

At a Christmas tournament in Syracuse in 1982, I outscored and out rebounded Steven Wright as my team upset his for the title. Wright later started for Providence's final four team with Billy Donovan. Sure he was a stiff, but he was 6'10.

You know what really sucked though? The sports section the next day had a picture of me putting up a hook shot over him, but with the caption "Steven Wright blocks the shot of Niskayuna center Greg Holmes"
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

1 - check ball inbound alley-oop, receiving end to end a ridiculously long 20 min pickup game.
2 - stole the ball from Richmond Spiders great (and NBA journeyman) johnny newman only to get chased down and block/fouled by his son.
3 - IM 3-on-3 tournament championship game playing against 3 guys that I felt really had no business being there and yet we were down. came off a screen to the top of the key, blew a kiss jason kidd style and nailed the 3.

i'm horrible at basketball video games.

I got dunked on by Tony Massenburg. It was an outdoor court with no net and i had to be quick to get out of the way or i would have gotten nailed on the head by the ball.

I got him back though. I posted him up and he didn't bother trying to deny me position. I got the ball and did an up and under that sent him flying towards the foul line as i casually made my layup.

1) Was playing a pickup game at Eastern Market circa '95, stole a pass and went on a break, passed an alley-oop to a player who got it at the rim and finished it strong. He was about 6-3 or so and looked young. I asked him later what school he went to and named a school that I did not recognize. Then he told me that he planned to move in with his grandmother WHEN HE GOT TO HIGH SCHOOL to play for a better school! Wish I recalled his name. . .

2) Watching the Wizards play in the Vegas Summer League!

This is thoroughly depressing, I've never hit 30 in a game. The most interesting highlight I probably have is in football with a buddy of mine being knocked out cold by Eddie George in high school as he tried to tackle him near the goal line.

He doesn't look that tall when he's doing standup.

The other Steven Wright is one of my favorite comedians.
He asked me if I knew what time it was. I said, "Yes, but not right now."

There is not much to it actually. If you spent as much time as I did in the arcades back then you probably would have been just as good as me.

My one day as a professional basketball player. Was substitute teaching and got a call for a half day job; showed up and it turned out the only thing scheduled was the annual teacher-student basketball game so got paid to play basketball . . . similar to my moment playing in a rock band when they wanted someone to do the cowbells for Honky Tonk Women. :)

Best players I ever played against were Brian Magid over at Candy Cane City back in the 70s and future Bullet Charles Davis when I was in college. If I remember right Magid didn't miss a damn shot the entire day and Davis got up about 12 feet in the air and slammed one of my shots back at me from about 15' away (probably goaltending but was too impressed to even think of complaining). Not really highlight moments either one of them for me.
