Off Season Trade Ideas

Post#1 » by mlloyd10 » Wed Jun 13, 2012 3:09 pm

I didn't see a trade thread, but I have a trade for you guys. Let me know what you think

T-wolves get: Monta Ellis, Luc Mbah Moute and SJax trade exception
Bucks get: D Williams, B Miller, and #18.

Rubio/Ellis/Johnson/Love/Pekovic with Ridnour/Webster/Moute of the bench

it's not the worst return but you won't get many positive responds around here. At a minimum Darko will have to be in place of Miller.

It allows them not to overpay for Ersan and let him go, they break up a flawed backcourt of Jennings and Monta who will want a new big contract next summer, and they will have two picks in this draft to get a SG replacement. The trade is good for them.

Yeah, your team is a mess. But if their goal is to be in the playoff running but coming up just short and telling the fans "hey, at least we tried" them they are doing a good job and hired the fight coach for the job.

I didn't think Ellis looked that great in Milwaukee tbh.

Obviously better option than what we currently have but I'd like to see if Williams can fetch something better.

I don't think Ellis would be good for us... he's very ball dominant, and we have a great up-and-coming PG in Rubio who needs the ball in his hands. I would much rather match Rubio with a more traditional 2 whose game is more based on movement without the ball and spot-up shooting (a Ray Allen type).

Really don't care for an Ellis-Rubio backcourt especially when it costs us Derrick Williams and a 1st rounder.

Rubio is less concerning to me than with how Love and Pek would match up with Ellis. Both Love in Pek need the ball on offense to be effective and neither will be adept at covering for Ellis on defense.

I think anyone in the league can play with Rubio, just like anyone should be able to play with Nash.

Ellis could always be shipped to a 3rd team.

Derrick Williams trades:

Draft Ross at #18 in the first two, Harkless in the last one. Could re-sign Beasley/Randolph except in the first where we'd have to renounce his rights.

#1
Williams/Webster/Miller for Lewis/(#3-Kidd-Gilchrist)

Rubio/Ridnour/Barea
Ross/Ellington/Lee
MKG/Johnson
Love/Lewis
Pekovic/Milicic

#2
Williams/Webster/Miller for Salmons/Hayes/(#5-Barnes)

Rubio/Ridnour/Barea
Ross/Salmons
Barnes/Johnson
Love/?
Pekovic/Hayes

#3
Williams/Webster/Ridnour/Barea/Milicic/Miller for Bargnani/Calderon/(#8-Lamb)/TPE

Rubio/Calderon/Lee
Lamb/Ellington/Lee
Harkless/Johnson
Love/Bargnani
Pekovic/Bargnani

I would love the first, be okay with the second and iffy on the third personally.

#4
Webster/Miller/Johnson for Ellis/Gooden/(#12-Ross)

-Milwaukee dumps a lot of $$$/Minnesota trades cap=space for another late-lotto pick.
-Draft Harkless at #18
-Re-sign Beasley

Rubio/Ridnour/Barea
Ross/Ellis
Harkless/Beasley
Love/Gooden
Pekovic/Milicic

Another option would be:

Williams for Dudley/#13

or make it a bigger deal if Suns decline:

Williams/Webster/Miller for Dudley/Frye/Childress/#13

Rubio/Ridnour/Barea
#13/Childress/
Dudley/Johnson
Love/Frye
Pekovic/Frye/Milicic

Take BPA @ #18.

I don't even see that as an option. The value is terrible for us.

As much as I like Dudley (and especially like him for our team), I do think we could probably get a little more for D-Will. I'm not against something kinda like that trade in principle, but think we could get another piece (3 team deal with Houston including Kevin Martin?) or another pick (with some protection).

I think if we talk to Phoenix about Dudley (which I really hope we're doing) either they will negotiate with us somewhat fairly or they will not be interested/demand way too much. If it's the latter, there's not much we can do, but if it's the former, I think a trade that works for both teams will sort-of naturally materialize (and it might not even have to involve D-Will if we can give them picks/cap-space). I certainly hope that happens anyway.
