Hmm... Does Barea expire? It looks here like he'd back up Kemba on a fairly reasonable deal, and we lose Tyrus's contract without amnesty...
I bet the Wolves could bring in another team to get us a better pick than 18. going from 2 to 18 is really disappointing, I'd like the pit to be sweetened. Even with Derrick Williams.

CSNNW.com has learned the Portland Trail Blazers are high on Weber State's point guard Damian Lillard, University of Illinois' center Meyers Leonard, North Carolina's wing Harrison Barnes, and Kentucky's wing Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

Seems like the Kings like Barnes at 5, so Cleveland could be screwed here if they intend on picking him at 6.
I'm not really all that interested in the 6 and 11 to be honest. Especially not if we include Kemba. Look at what is going to be there at 6 and 11. I mean this is a deep draft, but I don't really like our options. To me even at 6 it's likely going to be a guy who is just going to be an average NBA player. Not exactly what we need. At least at the very top Robinson/MKG/Beal have the potential to be an all star type player. I don't really see that from other players outside that group. Especially if Barnes is gone at 5, and I don't really like Barnes but he would be about the only guy I would be interested in at 6. Perhaps even Drummond there, but I really don't believe in his upside.

congrats on having the worst shooting lineup in the history of basketball. you might want to have at least one player on the floor who can shoot from outside 15 feet. just sayin'
Felton is the backup PG in my scenario too, does that help us?
yes it does. it helps your case of having the worst shooting team in history.

I'm afraid that would shortchange our rebuild. That team would possibly be good enough to make the playoffs. We'd have to rehire Sam Vincent to ensure we stay lottery bound.
How much rebuilding do you feel the need to do? That team would be a contender in the east within a couple years. You can't be a cellar dweller forever hoping for the next superstar in the draft. Our rebuild doesn't need to bankrupt the team.

To me, I think this all depends on what we can learn of the draft boards for Cleveland, Portland, and Sacramento. If there's a way for us to get Drummond at 6 then I would love to see us trade with Portland or Cleveland.

I still think if Portland trades up it will be for Drummond. It will be them trying to get ahead of the Kings, which is why the Kings have spread their interests in Barnes. They know Cleveland wants Barnes, so they are trying to say they have a lot of interest so that the Cavs don't make a trade with Portland back therefore leaving Drummond for them. Just my theory. We could trade with Portland, but the Portland would be taking Drummond 2nd overall. Thankfully, there just aren't any trade scenarios with Portland that are likely to leave Drummond to draft. I also don't think it's likely we draft Drummond 2nd overall.
On a side note, in my other post I left out Sullinger. I think he will also be a solid NBA player, but I am a little weary of Sully and Biz together. That's a small frontcourt, but it could probably work. If Cleveland determines they can't afford to fall behind Sactown because Barnes may not be there, then perhaps it would open the door for us to get a trade with Portland. Portland takes Drummond 2nd overall, Cleveland takes Barnes 4th overall. That leaves MKG, Beal, Robinson, and Sullinger for Washington, Sactown and us. I feel Washington would take Robinson. Past that it's a toss up, but if that's how the draft plays out I would be willing to take the risk of going down to 6. Ideally Beal would fall, if not then I would be okay with Sully. I don't really know who I would look at 11, perhaps then you could use that 11 pick to try and get rid of Thomas, or trade for Gay.
I actually think at 11, Rivers would be a good fit for the Griz and could allow them to let OJ walk. Perhaps they have interest in Pery Jones III too. 11 + Thomas for Gay and with 6 you draft Beal/Sullinger. That would not be a bad haul for Cho.

Re: Trading the #2 pick - dicussion (merged)
Six is far too high for Sullinger. I am much higher on Moultrie than Sully. If we did trade back for 6 & 11, and Robinson, Drummond and Beal are all gone, I'd probably target Barnes at 6 and Moultrie at 11 (w/Terrence Ross or Rivers another possibility at 11 if we go big at 6). I'd actually prefer that scenario in some ways than staying at 2, since we need quality players so badly.
This is why the Cats need to accurately gauge their potential for trades ASAP, since they need to workout players based on the right set of scenarios. Drafting 2 players versus the guy picked after Davis is a lot more work.

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

A contender for what? 6th seed?
Tyreke/kemba Two ball dominant guards with bad J's
beal/reggie
Crash/Magette Maggs will expire, Crash is declining fast
Jamison/hayes Jamison is older than dust, Hayes is a 6'6" PF that will be losing his athleticism due to age soon.
biyombo/mullens Ebony and Ivory didn't really scream Championship frontcourt this year.

Tyreke/kemba Two ball dominant guards with bad J's who are both young enough to prove their jumpers.
beal/reggie Should be good enough shooters to allow Tyreke and Kemba to slash
Crash/Magette Maggs will expire, and we want him to so he can be replaced. Crash is declining fast says who? He had one sub par season on a team far away from his wife, and kids which he was not used to.
Jamison/hayes Jamison is older than dust, Hayes is a 6'6" PF that will be losing his athleticism due to age soon. Powerforward is the easiest position in the nba to fill.
biyombo/mullens Ebony and Ivory didn't really scream Championship frontcourt. Neither Guy is 25 yet. I think that we can give them another day or two to get it together.
Besides this is just the nucleus. This team can still sign free agents. It can still make trades. Not to mention future drafts. Despite what you may think the best players are not always selected in the lottery. Ask Tony Parker what he thinks about the subject.

I'm creating a Mock draft and have the Bobcats trading: Tyrus Thomas and #2 to Golden State for David Lee, 7, 30 & 35. Then have us doing a Sign-&-Trade with Augustine to the Mavericks for #17. I have us picking Beal(7), Harkless(17), D. Green(30), Wroten(31) and O'Quinn(35). Just wondering what everyone thought. Realistic, not good trades, etc. Feedback will be much appreciated. For those trying to figure out how we get Beal. 1-Anthony Davis, 2-MKG, 3-T. Robinson, 4-Barnes, 5-Drummond, 6-Lillard, 7-Beal

GSW would never take that. The picks alone are almost fair, but Golden State is giving up a 20/10 guy on a big contract for a piece of crap backup making $7M. Not a chance.

Re: Trade with Golden State
Go ahead and erase the DJ S&T, as it's not possible.
Don't think they'd go for the Lee trade. Too old and too expensive.
Beal probably won't be around at 7 and Harkless probably won't be around at 17
Would be more than happy if we picked up Green, Wroten, and O'Quinn in the second though

All of these things are true, definitely.

replace lee with curry and we have some discussion. you can even remove 30 and 35 from the deal.
#2 for #7 and curry. you dont even need to take back tyrus. we are under the cap so we can absorb curry.

Do you really want to have Kemba and Curry on here? It'd be like last season. DJ (Curry) being the more skilled but often injured guard, and half the board slobbering over Kemba and half knowing he didn't play so good?
