Big 'turning point' in this game imo was the 3 by Durant that made it 87-81 with 6:30 left on the Nick Collison tip offensive rebound to the backcourt. Could have been a 1-point game if the Heat got the defensive rebound.
Nick Collison was huge for them.

Re: Game 1 Post Game NBA Finals
I just can't get over the fact that Joel Anthony and Rony Turiaf, 2 players that go up in the air to contest shots from athletic players were not part of the game plan. Instead he heavily leaned on Haslem, a player who plays below the rim to play Pivot/Anchor/Center whatever.
Also notice how Pittman hasn't sniffed the court since being sent out to do whatever in the Pacers game.

Re: Game 1 Post Game NBA Finals
Dr. Jack Ramsey on 790 the ticket. He said:
- Heat had good offense in the first half, crumbled in the second half. We could not make a pass and got stagnant on offense by letting the OKC defensive pressure get to us.
- OKC turned up the pressure on defense in the 2nd half, this can be combated by moving off the ball and getting back door cuts/lay ups.
- OKC had us scrambled in the 2nd half, we were taking shots under duress of the shot clock and not getting open looks.
- Bosh needs to get some plays in the basket area as well, and mix it up with his mid range shot from 15-17 feet. He did not play well yesterday.
- Bosh and Haslem need to start. We need to be running constant screen & pops, getting quality shots.
- We cannot slow down in the open court. We also cannot slow down when we are passing the ball. We don't catch it in stride, and OKC springs on it and either makes us turn it over or puts us in bad position.

1) Dexter Pittman was placed on the inactive list in favor of Juwan Howard & Terrell Harris
2) Turiaf did not play despite playing 26 minutes vs the Thunder this season.
3) Cole did not play despite playing 15 minutes vs the Thunder this season.
4) Once the Thunder started paying attention to Battier no rotation adjustment was made. (Harris/Jones)
5) Playing undersized for long stretches & undermanned will not get it done. Joel Anthony (2 minutes- long enuff to get posterized but at least he was trying to make a play)
Let me answer that for you.
1) Doesn't matter. Pittman, Howard, Harris, we need neither of them in a healthy Playoff team.
2) He is obviously hurt or not at 100%. I remember him getting out of a game with some injury-questions, he didn't play since.
3) You can't compare Playoffs to Regular season, that's useless. A valid point though is, that Cole should get Miller's minutes. Miller can't bring us anything if he gets two shots in 10min.
4) Harris is useless at this, Jones was injured.
5) The problem against OKC isn't size. If you watched the game you know that neither Ibaka or Perkins were big threats. We need players to get in front on Westbrook on fastbreaks.

That last point brings something to mind; What the hell has happened to our transition defense? Even Boston was taking shots at us there. There's no excuse for that... at all.

@tomhaberstroh
ESPN tracking: Durant scored just 2 pts on 0/2 shooting when guarded by LeBron. Everyone else? 34 pts on 12/18 shooting.

19 games with an average of 42.6min guarding every position in LeBron's legs has happened. Not hustling Dwyane Wade has happened. Injured Chris Bosh has happened.
It looks like we can't have a good halfcourt defense AND a good transition defense.

Re: Game 1 Post Game NBA Finals
Since we're getting called for BS touch fouls anyway, we need to start actually making them feel the fouls. Especially on Westbrook, that dude is a loose cannon and he'll start doing stupid things if we get him rattled. I say, to set a tone for the game, we foul him really hard and send him flying into the front row(not flagrant or dirty) but really send him flying. Even subconsciously, no one would keep going that hard to the rim if they kept getting bodied like that. Get into his head, make whoever is covering him trash talk him and goad him into doing stupid things. Hell, they should put me out there, I was always great at talking tons of trash and fouling hard when I played in high school.

Pissing him off benefits us.
We might as well shove/hit harder on our fouls, cuz everytime we touch an OKC player it is a foul. Might as well make it count and prevent the and-1.
I want to see Riley "no lay up rule" style fouls to prevent those paint points. Let those youngsters know thu can't come into our paint.
completely agree.
When the dude is angry, he has the look of a serial killer in his eyes and just starts chucking and driving recklessly.
Unleash the Pitt or Juwan. We are getting called for touch fouls anyway. Might as well make them feel us.

Was watching both KD's and Westbrook's highlights of Game 1 and obviusly our defense was completely atrocious. Not only that Wade got completely massacred by Westbrook which to be honest that bothered me the most.
KD's being wide open is completely unacceptable and some times dudes got lazy and didnt even bother to contest him. That type of ish can be corrected with obviously better defense and it helps that KD is not going to be looking to drive most of the time like Westbrook.
Now Westbrook completely manhandling Wade is really worrisome because we cant take Lebron off KD to come guard Westbrook because obviously that leaves KD more free to operate.
Wade better wake his ass up or else were really screwed because Westbrook consistently blowing by him is going to really screw our defense up. Its almost like Barea and Dirk are out there once again against us

Why is Wade playing Westbrook like he's Rondo? Get up in the dude's grill, he's letting Westbrook get a full head of steam and letting him look over the defense. Can't give him space to operate like that.

Dan LeBatard:
- whoever guarded Westbrook did such a bad job, he had space to operate and pass it to Nick **** Collison.
- as a result, instead of having LBJ on KD, we had to put him on Westbrook. Giving Durant the mismatch against Wade.
tl;dr Westbrook is the crux of our problems. We gave him too much room to pass and drive. Remember, more shots from Chuckbrook = less for Durant.

Re: Game 1 Post Game NBA Finals
LeBron on Westbrook? Let him do to Westbrook what he did to Rose last season.
Wade on someone like Sefolosha, or Fisher, or Harden? This will be an easier match-up for him and may allow for him to get his offense going.
Battier on Durant? Kevin is going to score no matter who is on him. He was 0-2 with LeBron but that's a really small sample size. He's tall enough to shoot over anyone on our team. What's good about Shane is that he doesn't get discouraged. A guy could have 40 points on him in a half and his demeanor won't change. In crunch time we can put LBJ on him if needed.
One of Westbrook/Durant needs to be limited. Can't let one guy have a triple double and the other go for nearly 40. IMO Westbrick is the better option to go at.

Re: Game 1 Post Game NBA Finals
Guys, I've the solutions! We put LeBron on KD when he has the ball and LeBron on Westbrook when he has the ball. That's some serious adjustment right here, glad I could help.
The problem with LeBron on Westbrook is quite obvious: it's exhausting as ****. You want him to play 46min, keep his team in the game, defend the quickest PG in the league, defend KD in crunch time and be able to close out games? And I almost forgot: scoring at least 30-10-5? This after playing like every game in the season and the exhausting POs he had? Won't work.
He should defend Westbrook some minutes during the game to ''break'' his rhythm, but Wade needs to get his **** together.
