Seconded. I dont like moving back all the way to 6 just to dump Tyrus, however I could tolerate #4. Apparently Toronto has strong feelings for Barnes and Beal. They're sitting at 8.
If we were going to attempt to dump Tyrus' contract to move down, I would prefer we attempt to do so with Cleveland at 4 as previously rumored (since cleveland will need to add salary to make min payroll)
This only becomes feasible if Cleveland falls in love with Beal, Drummond or MKG and believe they will be gone by 4 or if Barnes, who they already like, improves his stock in workouts and is expected to be gone before 4.
If so, and we could offload Tyrus and move down to 4 and 24, I'd be game. Doing so with Portland at 6 isnt quite as appealing since at 4 we would still be guaranteed one of Robinson, Beal, MKG, Barnes.
Assuming Barnes or someone else Toronto covets is still on the board at 4, flip that pick to them for James Johnson and their #8 and Diops final 7 mil.
Then take the BPA at 8, 24, 31. At 8, guys like Sullinger, Lamb, Leonard, Lilliard should all be there. And its possible someone like Drummond could even slip. Target Royce white at 24 or package the 31 with the 24 to move into the teens if White's stock improves.
Use some of the $ cleared from moving Tyrus and Diop to pitch a $5-$6 mil offer to Dragic. Extended a $2-$3 mil per year offer to Terrence Williams.
S/T DJ to salvage any value we can, even if for a future late first. consider signing a vet like Jamison for mentoring purposes if he will consent to a cheap deal.
Dragic / Kemba /Twill
Hendo / Twill / Reggie
James Johnson / Royce White / Twill
Biz / Jamison / White
Leonard / Mullens (or vice versa if Mullens adds strength this summer)
Next summer, re-sign Johnson, add another lotto pick and throw Big $ at Harden to upgrade the 2 spot. Then they're a 45-50 min team with the potential to advance a round or two and then make a big jump after they gel the following year.
