Is it a bad thing thorn stood pat? Rather keeP the assets we have then make a trade for the sake of making one. We haven't heard any really enticing offers yet, what's the rush? We're a young team, that is only gonna improve its trading power as our younger players get better.

Re: SixerFan1976 Offseason Thread
I knew something didn't look right at the combine when Rod Thorn sat with his buddies and Doug was with Tony Dileo and the Sixers staff. I remember Rod saying there were some deals on the table but Doug didn't want to break up the team. I think Doug probably got cold feet at the deadline because Evan Turner had just went on that streak of games when he was playing great and they were anticipating the return of Hawes. All we kept hearing was their were deals on the table but nothing worth breaking up the core of the roster. I have to believe the Monta Ellis for Iggy deal was what Thorn was talking about.

Joe (Philly)
Any chance philly tries to trade iggy to move up and get either beal or drummond?
John Hollinger (12:16 PM)
Iggy for a pick is extremely difficult to pull off without a large contract coming back to the Sixers, so I'd say it's highly unlikely. On the more general idea of an Iguodala trade -- they tried to last year (for Monta Ellis) and new owners shot it down (wisely I might add), and he and Collins have a pretty icy relationship, so I could definitely see that happening.

Re: SixerFan1976 Offseason Thread
We've already established that the front office is willing to trade Iguodala. However, neither Chad Ford or John Hollinger can answer if teams picking at the top of the draft would take on a oldish wing with aging knees on a pretty high contract. I don't know why people continue to ask these things in the chats.

They are more informed than people on this board. Isn't speculation what we do best? At least Ford talks to people withing the different organizations and gets reads on players value across the league.

Iguodalas knees sure didn't look "aging" at any point in the playoffs this year. Ask Pierce and Korver how they feel about his aging knees.

Cool story bro. That doesn't change the fact that Andre will turn 29 years old next year and it is a KNOWN FACT that he has been battling chondromalacia in his right knee. That is a chronic condition and will continue to get worse.

dang so we were about to get monta.... if we could find a defensive 3 to fit with jrue and monta... man that woulda been fun to watch... idk what we woulda done with turner tho
but sidenote... why does collins and iggy have an icy relationship? collins does nothing but praise him... plays him a ton of minutes... has no restrictions on his game...
i dont get where this is all coming from... turner and collins i can see... but wheres this iggy collins drama coming from?

Re: SixerFan1976 Offseason Thread
If the return is anywhere near close, we're far better off trading away Evan Turner than Andre Iguodala. For all the hype about Dre's knee "problems", he doesn't really miss any time. Plus, when his contract is up in 2 years they will be able to resign him for a more reasonable amount (maybe $10-11M per yr instead of $14M). Turner on the other hand doesn't have the physical talent ever be more than mediocre. His ceiling is as an Aaron McKie type jack-of-all trades 6th man (if he ever figures out how to shoot that is). Get value for him now while people still remember the hype from when he came into the league.

Amen to that bro.
I also think we should draft Terrence Ross. His skill set works very good with JRue and Iguodala imo.
But that means Evan Turner will be 6th man (Lou's role?).
I would try to trade him too for the highest pick we could get (8th?)

Re: SixerFan1976 Offseason Thread
I go back and forth on what I think of Turner, and I think management feels the same way too. Some nights he shows that he can go iso on the stars of the league and have a great midrange game, finish strong at the rim, play solid D and create for his teammates. But then other times he'll kinda just stand around, post up and take fadeaways...and if those aren't going in then he barely does anything else scoring the ball that night. They probably feel like everyone else that him and Iggy aren't a good match and wanna deal Iguodala while he's still hot and see if Turner is the #2 pick they drafted him to be. You're not going to get much for Turner right now unless we were to throw in #15 or Thad or somebody so it would be a waste to trade him.

While I agree, Speights made us look bad. He put together some pretty good games for Memphis while Randolph was down... And Memphis was a playoff team winning games.

Iguodala is the one going........
If we grab Ross or Waiters or Beal(longshot), Turner slides to SF
Thats how its gonna shake out..........if we trade Andre for a big man.

So whats more likely?
Iguodala DOESNT get traded?
or
Lou re-signs?

i still cant believe we are going to put turner at SF full time... rebounding wise he's fine... i just dont see how he's going to stack up to most SF's every night on defense... we'll see though...

Also SF-
I asked earlier, but it got jumbled up in all the other talk, about Perry Jones. Hes sliding down mock drafts and even get passed us in a couple of them. Any idea if we like him or are interested? Seems like a top 10 talent that could be too good to pass up if hes sitting there at 15, right?

I dont really think itll be that big of a problem, honestly. Hes got good enough lateral movement to guard SGs so none of the quick SFs hell have a problem with. And Evans a pretty strong guy so hes not going to get bullied in the post(proved that a few times when he got switched onto KG in the playoffs). Only ones hes going to REALLY have problems with are lebron and KD. But theres no SF in the league that doesnt have those same problems.

Re: SixerFan1976 Offseason Thread
i guess the more i think about it turner could probably get by at SF.. he seems to play physical on D, like when garnett couldnt back him down (AWESOME) and most SF's arent as quick as PG's and SG's
our length will just take a hit on the perimeter but i guess i can live with that

yeah i suppose you are right
if we do put him at SF it opens a lot of options up at SG... like going after mayo or something

Re: SixerFan1976 Offseason Thread
What has Mayo proved to be considered as a starting SG?
I'm sorry, but his shots inconsistent, he's not great at driving and isn't exactly a great defender either.
I'd rather draft Rivers on a rookie deal than throw 8 million at Mayo.
