Lets face it.....The Finals comes down to who's more clutch

Post#1 » by cb1 » Thu Jun 14, 2012 5:27 pm

At this point both teams are really good. We won't blow them out and vise versa. The nba finals has always come down to which superstars close games the best. In game 1, Durant did that. We will need Lebron and Wade to be big time closers in this series if we're gunna win. Look back at what Dirk did to us last year and that's your prooof. Scratch Xs and Os. It all comes down to which superstars will impose their will in the last 5 minutes. We won't have a comfortable margin and cruise to wins so we will have to close. Wade was the master of this in 06. We will see who rises this year.

I think we can still win if we are going into the 4th with a lead and GET STOPS and capitalize, without being clutch.

We've won games like that.

It's why the 3rd quarter has been some sort of omen for us. When we lost the 3rd, we usually lose, but when we win the 3rd, we usually win.

Not against this Thunder team. They're wayy too explosive to kept down for long. We will have to hold them off with not only stops but clutch baskets. That strategy of being up comfortably going into the 4th worked against Boston because they were too old and Indiana didn't know how to close. OKC knows how to close games.

Hard to close out games and be more clutch when your defense is giving wide open lanes to Westbrook and Fisher.

True. There will be a lot of close ones coming up soon so we'll see.

If this series is going to come down to who's more clutch then we're going to lose.

I'm sorry but LeBron may be the overall better player than Durant but Durant LIVES for the 4th quarter and the way he elivates his game in that time period shows. It's almost like he coasts for the first 3 quarters just to save a little extra for the 4th. Just look at how he looked upnstoppable out of nowhere in the 4th during Game 1, as well as the in the last 4 games against the Spurs.

But this series isn't going to come down to that... It's going to come down to the team that can EXECUTE their game plan better throughout the entire game. If OKC is dependent on Durant being clutch in the 4th to win this series then that's fine. We'll just outperform them in the first 3 quarters so that they aren't even in the game in the 4th.

LeBron doesn't have the luxuary of coasting until the fourth quarter. Nor does he have the luxuary of getting wide open looks consistantly during the fourth like Durant did in game one. Also his #2 guy isn't playing as well or agressively as Westbrook is letting Durant just save it up for the fourth.

It's a shame that Lebron doesn't have the same luxury of coasting that Durant does but that's why we have Wade. He has to be the 06 closing Wade. Go back and watch all past nba finals including last year and see how many of them came down to the last 5 minutes. This is where this team has to mature and conquer their 4th quater demons. Both teams are too evenly matched for us to be blowing them out going into the 4th and vise versa. Wade and Lebron have to be legendary this series.

The finals comes down to DWade starting to pull his weight and be a top five player again. We could rest Lebron if Wade would just take over the game when Lebron was out. Wade should be on the same level as Lebron and Durant. Not on the level of James Harden.
