There is not a clear pick at #2. I am not sure you can find two “draft experts” that have predicted the same picks 2 though 6.

In other words, these 5 players are so evenly matched, why move up? The only reason for Portland to move up to #2 is if they have a certain player they need. Portland’s roster is so thin, they can use all 5. Portland will be happy to take the player that falls to #6, and call it a good draft day.

There is another reason Portland does not place much value on moving up to #2. This may also be and the same reason MJ & Cho might be whiling to let #2 go on the cheap to move down a few spots, money. The first year salary of pick #2 is $1.28 million more than #6. Portland needs that cap space to sign FAs.

Portland would consider trading pick #11 to move up. If there is not a package that is appealing to Charlotte for #2, no problem, there are other trade options. If not, our GM feels he can find a starting caliber player at #11. Portland needs to draft the two best starters they can out of this draft.

It sounds like Charlottes best trading partner is Cleveland. Trade #2 for #4 plus, and call it a good draft day.

makes sense to me. i wouldn't trade up in this draft if i were portland. i'd be stoked to hang at 6 and grab whoever fell, then also fill a need at 11.

I don't see another player in the lottery more NBA ready at this point than Barnes, and with his size and skills he can be a 17-20 ppg scorer for his career. Drummond may pan out to be a good player but he'll take some developing, and who's to say he'll want to remain a Bobcat when he starts to really shine as a player.

I'd take Barnes, Drummond, Zeller from Indiana, or Rivers. I dont like Beals size at the SG position, I don't like T-Robinson's size for the PF spot, MKG seems to be a little short for SF, but he maybe the guy I'd take a shot at if I had to pick one of the undersized players.

If Portland wants to trade up for the number 2 position and they're willing to give up 6 and 11 for that, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Charlotte is still guaranteed to get one of the top players in the draft as most ppl have Davis, Robinson, MKG, Barnes, Drummond, and Beal as the top players. These are players the Bobcats fans all seem to like also. If Cho is as good as advertised he should be able to get a very nice pick at 11.

I hate to break it to you ball teacher, because you've mentioned him twice now, but Cody Zeller (from IU) isn't in the draft.

Your analysis makes perfect sense. I agree our best option would be dealing with the Cav's for 4 & 24, unless the trade involves a pick & a player.

Then again if Kings would see that coming they should trade with us (or Wizards). If, and that is a big if, a team wants a specific player from Tier 2, such a player can be easily picked in top 3 (to be kept or to be shopped or with a trade in place already).

well.....that explains why he isn't in the top 5 of most draft picks! LOL

Drummond? Next Shaq!

On contrar I would be highly disappointed if we drafted Beal, MKG or Drummond. I definitely wouldn't hype them up.

For me its T-Rob/Barnes or Bust and i'm sticking to that

They're nothing alike.

If anything, this is all very convenient since Cleveland pretty much laid their cards on the table regarding their interest in Barnes weeks ago.

If Robinson is our guy, then trading the #2 for Cleveland's #4 and #24 is fine.

How so?
Drafting Harrison Barnes could work to our advantage down the line too, it could tempt Kyrie into coming here once hes a FA

When do you guys start workouts?
I mean, you've also got that valuable 31st pick and there should be at least 4 - 5 guys working out for that #2 pick, right?

Sounds like you're either having some trouble brining people in or that the team doesn't want to let people know up front who's going to work out for them.

Cho has talked about an extensive scouting database he built when we hired him. If anything, I'm guessing he's convinced about most players and is just using the workouts to weed out certain guys or create smokescreens for other teams. We're probably doing a few favors too, either for MJ/buddies or agents.
