nah, i got invited so i dipped work for an hour down to chinatown

but yeah, Beal looked pretty smooth, jumper was on point... definitely looks more athletic in person (more so than I imagined). His hops do reflect on the athletic numbers he posted the other day.

I didn't see the whole thing though, just caught a glimpse

I got invited too, but I couldn't go because I was at lunch with Obama.

draft express tweeted that Robinson is a clear cut favorite to go #2 to Charlotte. Looks like we have to decide between Beal,MKG and Barnes

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Beal and Robinson would be a dream for me and I'd give up next years 1st for it. Booker too eventhough he would be amazing depth in the stacked front court we would have with T-Rob/Nene/Seraphin/Vesley.

Robinson will likely average a double double next year if he gets starters minutes.

Easy to see that happening but I doubt he will be there when we pick.

Of the players who get trashed a lot, the one I wonder about a little is Barnes. I haven't liked him dating back to last year. Its not his physical tools but what is between his ears. He seems to weak minded. But as a third fiddle with the right coach, he will be a solid player in the NBA. Maybe in time he will get groomed to be more assertive. But changing a player who isn't that way into one that is is something I never want to gamble on. If you would mix Barnes and MGK together, you would have a great great player.

So frustrating when a player with all the tools can't get the last piece which is their mind. But the mind needs to be groomed as well. It is one of the most important skills to have. A great car with a crappy driver is just going to end up in a ditch.

Barnes has more between his ears then Drummonds. He isn't a stupid kid at all. This is why I wonder about him more then some of the others. Seems like a kid that was pampered to much maybe. In a few years, he could come around. Right now he has a little to much Jarivs in him for my liking. Someone need to toughen him up. Get him in a boxing ring would be the best thing for him.

what you mean by his mind isnt right?

I dont understand you all's metaphors here.

the problem is if Charlotte takes Trob at 2....well maybe its not a problem. Maybe Cleveland takes Barnes at 4 after we take Beal at 3 and we get MKG at 5

Davis
Robinson
Beal
Barnes
MKG to Washington

can you imagine getting Beal and MKG and then signing the Illseylova as a free agent

Terrence Ross, Austin Rivers and MKG working out tomorrow. Should be interesting to read the reports.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

That's way too much depth to give up, IMO.

I'd offer both seconds and next year's unprotected first or Booker/Vesely.

If Sacramento didn't like that, I'd offer it to everyone else in the top ten. A combo of Beal and Barnes/MKG/either Jones would be an outstanding draft.

As it stands, my ideal (realistic) draft would be:

1/3 - Bradley Beal
2/32 - Miles Plumlee/Will Barton
2/46 - Hollis Thompson/Kyle O'Quinn

Each of those combinations improves the perimeter skill and shooting and the front court athleticism and rebounding. Ideally, I'd like to go Barton them Plumlee in the 2nd round, but I have a feeling Plumlee's combine mover him into the high-2nd range.

Too much depth? lol. Depth is severly overrated. Get good players and worry about depth when were actually good. I don't think we have a shot in hell of getting another tpp 5 pick, but if it was possible, I wouldnt let affinity for some role players stop that from happenimg.

^^^

Sometimes I think people get an NFL/NFL draft type mentality that they bring to their thinking regarding the NBA and the NBA draft. You get the studs first and then figure it out from there. We get excited about second round picks but realistically they rarely have a huge impact. I wouldn't deal an unprotected first though unless they're getting a legit star back.

Anyone read this?

Rich Cho is copying the team-building ideology of the Thunder.

“We're trying to build it similar to how we built it in Seattle/OKC," said Cho, who was the assistant general manager in Seattle from 2000-07 and at Oklahoma City from 2007-09.

Cho has overhauled the Bobcats' scouting system, putting together "the most advanced database I've seen," he says. "It's an eyes, ears and numbers approach. It was something we were going to do in Portland, but didn't have enough time."

Michael Jordan has given Cho full autonomy to make roster decisions.

"It's been terrific to work with Michael," Cho said. "He is very supportive. He has taken a step back, but we always keep him informed. When he is in town, we always talk.

So if you are the Cats and you are using advanced metrics to help you make your pick, who do they take at #2?

Right. Why kill all cap flexibility to get Gordon when they can get Beal - who has a good shot to be just as good as Gordon?

I actually think he's going to be significantly better than Gordon (but then I don't think Gordon is particularly productive). Watching the video scouting report on him, I think he's going to be an all star.

What a terrible idea. Man. And what exactly makes Barnes such a good prospect? He had a bad sophomore year after a so-so freshman year. I don't think the guy will be a starter in the league. He does nothing at all but catch and shoot, and he doesn't do that all that well.
