Signing Jeff Green to a contract?

Post#1 » by black bart » Tue Jun 12, 2012 8:32 am

Jeff Green is an elite athlete who isn't a very good offensive shot/ball handler/defender but has been playing out of position his whole career. I feel like in a change position he should be an elite defender at the very least small forward and be a thabo sefolosha type player. He had heart surgery (I have no idea what impact that will have on his game) which will lower his contract to 4 mil a year at the worse.

Thabo Sefolosha would suck if he wasn't a good defender. Jeff Green is not a good defender.

I forgot all about Jeff Green. I haven't seen him play a lot but I remember the hype surrounding him and Durant in their rookie years in Seattle. Depending on who we draft I wouldn't mind going after him, but I think he'll stay in Boston.

yeah, he's staying in Boston unless somebody offers him a contract that is too good to turn down.

Isn't he another SF/PF tweener? If we keep DW, I don't see much of a need for him unless we want him for a back-up role. If looking at a starting SF, I would rather just have Beas come back.

So in other words, no thanks. SG and back-up C are larger needs and should be the focus.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I'm certainly not a Jeff Green expert, but my impression of him is he is a very good or at least very versitile defender. I remember watching OKC vs SAS one game early last season where Tony Parker was torching OKC so they stuck Jeff Green on him down the stretch of the game, and his combination of size and quickness was able to shut Parker down. I'm sure there are matchups that cause Green problems, but he has a chance to guard 4 different positions on the court.

Wouldn't hate it, but not my first choice.

starting and backup sf are needs. In fact, anybody that can answer "no" to the question "were you on the team last year?" when filling out their Wolves application should be on the call back list.

We obviously need an upgrade at the 3, but that's not saying much.

This. I'd consider a double sign & trade to send Beasley to Boston.

Eh, he's pretty overrated. Not a very good player at all.

Green has omre potential on the defensive side. He should be able to guard both fast and strong SFs. He played PF where he was undersized which hurt him defensively but should cause trouble for virtually every SF at 3 defensively dueto his athleticisim. His offensive side I doubt will improve. He would benefit the team defensively

I don't see where Jeff Green is all that athletic either.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
