Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

 We will try to get something for him on draft-night, but most-likely we write him one last fat check.
I wonder if he will keep his kid at Sidwell :-?

So Arenas begat Lewis who begat Ariza & Okafor.

I wonder what would have happened if we had traded Gil for Ariza & Okafor 2 years ago? I think people would have been amazed that we got such a great deal. Of course, it would have meant two more actual productive years from those guys instead of the two coming up. But at the same time, we might have been too good to be in position to draft a top 6 player last year (kidding!) and a top 3 player this year (not kidding).

Timing is everything - definitely not saying I am happy with it, but it would have been hailed as a success back then, and would have had no (or negative) impact to our situation right now.

EG has had an amazingly uncanny ability to turn just about every good move he's made into a bad move. Here, he turns acquiring Lewis from a good move to a bad one (in that it led to acquiring 2 way overpriced vets); his original acquisition of Arenas was crushed by his overpaying to keep him; his great pick of Michael Redd was crushed when he gave him a max contract; his good pick of Dan Gadzuric was crushed when he re-signed him to an awful contract. Blatche looked like a good 2nd round pick. He extends him for lots of years, and he turns to s. Everything he touches seems to eventually turn to _____.

Overall Grades:

Hornets: A+: They clear cap enough cap space to buy a small country and get rid of two long-term contracts that did nothing for them. Okafor and Davis would have been a great shot-blocking pair, but the Hornets now have room to match any and all offers for Eric Gordon in restricted free agency and still have room to take on another contract in order to acquire a pick. They are set to build the right way in New Orleans.

Washington Wizards: D-: Well, at least they added a lot of money in getting two marginal players that don't necessarily compliment John Wall in any way. Ernie Grunfeld just got an extension. Yup, this is the NBA.
