The Formula Late in Games

Post#1 » by ecnirp » Fri Jun 15, 2012 5:02 am

As someone said.

Wade needs to be the primary ball handler. LeBron needs to be in the post.

Have shooters on the floor. Use Bosh and LeBron in screens when necessary.

Am I wrong...or is this the easiest way for the Heat to close out games? :-?

Lets be honest. LeBron at PG is the exact OPPOSITE of Russell Westbrook. Where Westbrook is always looking for his shot. LeBron is looking for the pass...so much so it works to his detriment. He forces silly passes and they turn into turnovers. Or he's 30 feet from the hoop and either has to jack up a 3 or force himself into a packed paint.
Hero Ball leads to fail ball sometimes. Keep this formula and the Heat would have won last year and can win this year.

Ego's have to be put aside. And Spo HAS to realize that LeBron at the point doesnt help the team late in games. I have no problem with it early in games cause the defense isnt as focused.

Do this and the Heat should win it all.

I DO NOT want wade to be the primary ball handler because his handles are sub par and he has a tendency to turn the ball over or get stripped. NO THANKS!!!!

Lebron at Pg is bad right now beacuse he has no faith in his jumpshot. If he cant drive he just dribbles out he shot clock our does some stupid pass. Get that jumpshot back and things are gold

He's averaging 31 with no jump shot right now :o

Scary thing is...Durant is averaging 34....with Russell Westbrook as his PG :o

Bottom line....LeBron has to stop going "Cleveland Mode" 30 feet from the hoop...

I have no problem with him catching it from the FT line and making something..but the constant dribbling has to stop.

More than anything we need to run a play, instead of Lebron dribbling for 20 seconds then forcing a bad shot or pass. Involve 2/3 of the Big 3 in a PnR and let the third guy cut, it worked on that one play for the dunk with Bosh.

I've never wanted to punch someone in the face so badly. Really hoping to run into him at a game one day. I won't hesitate.

honestly, i'd rather have bron on the ball late in games because he doesn't turn the ball over as much. for some reason, wade keeps stumbling and falling down and he bobbles the ball a lot on his crossover.

Lets make this simple...

Heat 5... Chalmers,Wade,Battier,Bron,Bosh

Thunder5... Westbrook, Seflosha, Harden, Durant, Ibaka

1. I do understand the Lebron handling the ball up court...only due to Westbrooks athleticism and Seflosha's on ball defense... This forces Durant to work on both ends of the court ...advantage Heat.

2. Out of OKC three you want Westbrook on Chalmers... of the three I want Westbrook rested while Durant winded from working both sides of the floor with Lebron...The more Westbrook takes it upon himself...the more hes willing to jack shots...advantage Heat. Chalmers knock down threes...Westbrook stays at home.

3. Wade needs to catch the ball coming off curls and screens cutting to the basket. Wade is 6'4" and Sef is 6'7" his only defensive drawback is being bigger...meaning slower chasing Wade against high screens or curls.

Scoring:
1st option: Lebron-Bosh Pick and Roll. Definately from the wing towards the middle of the court. This is a high pick and roll bringing out OKC's tallest defenders(Ibaka and Durant)... If Ibaka stays with Bosh(must be respected/Plus from left block going baseline he's left handed, can pop or drive) Lebron drives straight to the hole with Durant on his back. If someone goes to help you have Battier and Chalmers as knock down shooters, as Wade cuts to the hole. If Ibaka rolls and Lebron doesnt hit Bosh or a cutting Wade, or a 3pt shooter, he takes a short jumper... should have the rebounding edge with Battier,Wade, and Chalmers...if he pulls back...

2nd option: Bosh now posts up Durant... Ibaka will not leave James... Bosh goes to work on Durant... Wade should automatically head to top of the key for a screen from James to cut to the basket...either Ibaka follows or Sef chases or both...allowing James to run to the free throw for the easy catch... If Bosh doesnt go for his nd doesnt pass to a cutting Wade passes to Lebron...

3rd option...James makes decision as time expires...I think Lebron makes the best decisions when he doesnt think and is quick.

I think some variation of this should happen...keeps the Big 3 involved and gives switches and mismatches...but it takes ~20secs off the clock which helps when theres a big lead.
