^ yeah can't wait for 2018 . I was worried about the games here, but Russia's got a long way to go. Embarrassing behaviour from both sides. Part of that is history bubbling over from just beneath the surface, and part of it is just hooligans looking for an excuse to act like degenerates.

Anyway, stunning goal today, and go Poland next game

Well said. Also I don't understand why people consider Russian warrior banner a provocation. So it was fair when Polish players had hussars on their shirts in 2008 but Russians can't show their own warriors. What?

Going back to football, I heard that Szczęsny might be back into the lineup against Czech Republic. I completely don't understand that. Tytoń won us a point by saving a penalty vs Greece and was flawless against Russia. How can you sub him out when he emerged as one of the stars of the team

HILARIOUS western media spin machine.

"This banner the Russian spectators unfurled in Warsaw claimed “this is Russia” and its bellicose image of a gladius armed warrior invoked the venerable Russian doctrine of her status as the Third Rome. The Russian team let their fans down by showing, just as their tsars’ armies showed for centuries after Constantinople’s fall and Mother Russia’s Divine Imperial Inheritance, that alas and alack, they could not beat the Poles!"

RUSSIA THREATENED WITH EURO 2016 POINTS LOSS FOR FAN CONDUCT

Russia could be deducted six points in its qualifying group for the next European Championship if its fans turn violent again at Euro 2012.

UEFA fined the Russian football association C120,000 ($150,000) on Wednesday because its fans attacked stadium stewards at a match last week in Poland. UEFA also gave the federation a suspended six-point deduction for a repeat offence.

"This decision is suspended for a probationary period running from now until the end of the playoffs of the next UEFA European Football Championship," UEFA said in a statement.

Russia can appeal the verdict within three days.

Within hours of the announcement, UEFA charged Russia with further offences relating to its fans' behaviour inside the National Stadium during the match against Poland on Tuesday in Warsaw.

"However, last night's incidents do not have any impact on the probation period for the sanction imposed on (Russia) following the incidents at their first match against the Czech Republic in Wroclaw," UEFA said.

Russian fans were filmed fighting with stadium staff in Wroclaw after a 4-1 win last Friday. Police said violence flared when stewards tried to detain a man they believed threw a firecracker. Four stewards were treated at a hospital but were not seriously injured.

Russia's fine was also imposed by UEFA's disciplinary panel because of the thrown firework and for fans displaying "illicit banners." An anti-discrimination monitoring group reported seeing nationalist flags adopted by far-right activists.

^^ what in an instigating piece of **** that Russian banner is.

^ And I'm glad to see that they're taking these occurrences seriously. With a complicated history such as ours, it's all the more important to send a strong message of zero tolerance via heavy consequences. It'll hopefully discourage fans of any teams wanting to act up.

"Poland national team head coach Frank Smuda said after today's training session that goalkeeping coach Jacek Kazimierski.will make the desicion on who will start in goal against Czech Republic.

"I don't have a problem between choosing a goalkeeper because I have coach Jacek Kazimierski on my staff. Please ask him who will start on Saturday," Smuda said.

Kazimierski said today that a desicion will be made 24 hours before kick-off between Poland and Czech Republic.

"Both keepers are in fantastic form and there's no big difference between Tyton and Szczesny," Kazimierski said."

How is this even up for debate?

Szczesny gave up a goal to Greece in roughly half a games time....while up a goal AND man.

Tyton shut out Greece in the 2nd Half & played great against Russia (Best team in the group)

This is a NO BRAINER. If Poland truly is ''4 studs & scrubs'' then fine sit one of the stars of the tournament for a guy that hasn't played in over a week.

This is just laughable. It's an International competition NOT club football. Start the guy on the hot streak NOT the guy who watched the Russian match from the stands.

Hilarious that this is even up for debate

Well, we're at the 'Round of 16' portion of the group. Everyone is alive.

Simple for my Greek boys: Win or go home.

I have no doubt Poland will win today. Hosts need to be in the knockouts to keep the crowd atmosphere up. Also, I imagine the Polish want us to knock out Russia today. May have some extra fans on our side.

God damn it, of course the Greeks would have such undeserved luck. Hopefully, one of Poland or Czech Republic wins the other game.

Baros, you're still the most handsome player in the tournament, but you're also the 2nd most washed up player after Shay Given.

Russia might end up getting eliminated despite dominating all 3 games.
