Anyone think Minny would trade their pick for JJ?

Nah, I wasn't sure if you were being sarcastic toward the previous remark about "I heard...". Tough to judge tone on the internets. I'm as anxious for news as anyone. Appreciate the info.

Probably if we take someone off their books (even an expiring). Although, I think they might have interest in JRich if its just for an expiring. I would rather do that and keep JJ.

Im sure they would but I would rather not and try to send JRich for a future 2nd which I think they may do because with Rubio I think he would be pretty effective as a spot up shooter

If we hire Bower, and other teams manage to secure Lindsey, hennigan, and weaver, it will be very interesting to see where each team is in five years from a competitive standpoint.

Again, I would be very disappointed if we hire Bower over a guy like Dennis Lindsey .. Would be the wrong decision and eventually turn out to be Otis Smith v2.0
And seriously, "Bower has experience" .. If you look at what he's done, there's no reason to hire him over Lindsey.
Lindsey's been involved in some great teams. Sure, as an assistent. But there's a reason everyone except "best pal" Alex Martins has this guy as their favorite ..

I have a feeling that any candidate who talked about having a plan for the future would be crossed off the list immediately. Rdv is up there in age, and I think we are going to be in "win now" mode, no matter how unrealistic that may be at this point.

I think you nailed it. Lindsey seems like more of a "build for the future" kind of guy and I think Bower maybe comes off as "win now", which is completely unrealistic.

This would not be hard to believe at all. Especially with Martins in Devos's ear talking up Bower.

I want Lindsey / Shaw / draft picks and cap space. Give me young sharp basketball minds who know what championship basketball teams look like, and let them go to work building it from the ground up.

Remember one thing about Martins: he is essentially a politician. When you look at it like that, Bower has had this gig in the bag from the very beginning.

Bower's GMing is like Otis': short term "band-aid" moves that might or might not payoff for win-now mode, but will most assuredly kill your team's future. That's why everyone says this would be Otis 2.0

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXVI: Offseason Edition
The fact that this guy has interviewed for 3 or 4 other GM jobs recently and not been chosen says a lot even by itself. It takes his relationship with Martin' (who doesn't know what he's doing when it comes to the GM duties of a team) to even get him this far. If the Magic hire him, they will have made the wrong move.
