He's still really impressive -- tall, long, and low body fat. I think he'll be good. If he slip to 6th, then some of these teams are going to regret passing up on him.

Re: 2012 Orland Magic NBA draft thread ...
I like Kendall Marshall and it seems the board does too.
There will be busts but I think there is some good quality in this Draft.
The new GM will have a lot of pressure on them and they better pick right.

Re: 2012 Orland Magic NBA draft thread ...
Perry Jones fall is starting to become very legit. If he's there at 19, then we have to take him.
He would give us a great Twin Towers dynamic, but he would compliment Dwight because he doesn't crowd the paint. He can shoot from any range, fly into the post on breaks, dribble penetrate. He's just an elite athlete at his size. As teams like the Thunder show speed is an important factor, getting big men that can run the floor like him would be awesome for the Magic.
We could turn Anderson or Davis around in a trade to strengthen other positions.

Magic worked out a possible 2nd round prospect earlier today:
Charlie Westbrook SG/PG South Dakota 6'3.75" 196 pounds (6'6.5" wingspan).

I knew they checked him out before. This appears like the second time. Cool, because I like him!

I almost want us to select Perry Jones just to see you guys murder him after seeing how much he sucks at basketball.

Re: 2012 Orland Magic NBA draft thread ...
What concerns me about PJ3 is his habit of disappearing in some games. He had 2 points in the tourney against San Diego St, and then only 3 points in another tourney game.
What I would like to see is the Magic try to trade up and get Lillard. If not, take Waiters or Teague at 19.
They need to get a GM so he can start working on a game plan. Geez, **** or get off the pot!

now that i've did some rather amateur scouting of my own of Kendall Marshall....he isn't as bad as i thought i can certainly see his court vision and passing ability is on an NBA level in fact it's rather advanced if i do say so myself....i just wonder if he has good upside? the Andre Miller comparison is spot on....well he is 20 years old very young....if he's there at 19 and we need a PG he could be a decent pick...but if Teague is there as well i would pick him over Marshall......

I think my perfect draft would be like this. ( I don't think Perry falls.)
#19 - Quincy Miller, Baylor
#49 - Darius Johnson-Odom, Marquette
I also would like to see us invite some udfa's to our summer league maybe some guys like Anthony Jones, Kim English, Dee Bost, Eric Griffin, John Shurna, and Robbie Hummel. I think we need to see some fresh blood in our summer league roster.

Re: 2012 Orland Magic NBA draft thread ...
If Perry Jones slips to us, we take him. The man was a #1 pick in some mock drafts last year. The reasons given as to why he's slipping are stupid. Perry is going to be the steal of the draft if selected out of the lottery. After that Kendall Marshall is a steal at 19. I was against trading up for him because its a weak PG draft, but at 19 I'd take him provided Austin Rivers and Jones are off the board. After that, you take the best SF available. Harkless, Royce White, Q.Miller, trade down and get Jeff Taylor if we want him badly (I think he'll slip to the 2nd round or last couple picks of the first round).
One SF I think could be a steal, Kris Josephs from Syracuse. Not talking about selecting him with our 19th or even trading up for him in the 2nd round. But if he drops to us in the 2nd and we've already taken a PG with the 19th (Teague or Marshall)...he might be worth picking. He's explosive and attacks the rim. The big knock on him has been he doesn't have a high basketball IQ (stupid turnovers) and needs to improve his outside shot. A guy that is explosive and quick to the rim is a rare quality in the NBA. I just think it would be a good quality pick in the second round. He's guy that work on his game and turn into a quality starter.

Re: 2012 Orland Magic NBA draft thread ...
Out of the players that may be available to us at 19, Wroten is the only one with potential to be something really special.
And while PJ3 and Drummond lack of passion and drive to improve makes them big question marks, Wroten does not.
Looks like he is slipping further to mid 20s and if there's a steal to be made in this draft, that's one right there.

Re: 2012 Orland Magic NBA draft thread ...
the only problem with marshall is his upside, hes not very athletic, his feet are slow and hes not quick, and hes not a good scorer, i can see him slipping, other than that hes by far the best pure passing point guard in this draft, his intelligence will be key

Wroten would be exellent if somebody could ever get him to NOT shoot unless he has a layup. He is better off being a "Pass only" PG.
I mean you just CANNOT completely dominate the ball, shoot and then turn it over as much as he does while hitting nothing. It's a huge detriment.
