Blazers are working out Rivers and Wroten on Wednesday. MKG was supposed to be there as well, but his agent cancelled and said he will not be working out for the Blazers.

Chad Ford of ESPN.com reports that the Portland Trail Blazers continue to be one of a number of teams open to wheeling and dealing during the 2012 NBA Draft.
----------------------------------
Sources continue to insist that the Charlotte Bobcats (2), Sacramento Kings (5), Portland Trail Blazers (6, 11) and Toronto Raptors (8) are all still open to moving the pick. Some of those trades could be with each other, but from what I can gather, none of the four teams I just mentioned are sold with the players that are available to them. In the case of the Bobcats, the team is looking to turn a high pick into multiple assets. The Raptors and Kings, as we've mentioned previously, are looking for veterans to anchor an already young roster. The Blazers? From what I can gather, they're open to anything and everything.

----------------------------------

Ford also writes that UConn center Andre Drummond is "in the mix" for the Blazers at No. 6 and that Portland is "very high" on Syracuse guard Dion Waiters.

Will Portland re-sign Batum? Could be telling if Barnes is at #6... I like Waiters but damn, his stock is exploding. Toronto or whichever team @ #8 has to be the promise. No way he cancelled all workouts if the promise is #13.

IMO, it isn't worth trading up unless we can get in the top 5. Assuming Davis, MKG, Robinson, Beal, and Drummond go top 5, it wouldn't be worth trading up just to draft Lamb, Rivers, Ross, P. Jones, or Waiters, and I think that's why the Blazers are so willing to trade their picks.

We need to acquire as many mid-to late round picks as we can because there is a ton of depth in this draft. Trade some cash for picks, and/or help out a team that needs immediate salary relief for picks.

They would definitely re-sign Batum. If they did draft Barnes, they would immediately shop the pick. I mean IMMEDIATELY!!

As for Waiters, that what i have been saying all along. Right before the Combine, Chad Ford broke news that Waiters was a top 8 pick. I dont see why he would take a promise from us if his stock just went up to the mid-lotto. Doesnt make sense.

I think we told Rivers that we wanted him no mater what. We offered him a promise, but he didnt shut down the workouts, as he now knows his floor is Phoenix @ #13. He has not worked out for anybody with a lower pick than us. We made a promise to draft him if he's there still no matter what, but he wasnt closing down his workouts due to him possibly going higher. Thats what i think at least.

My 2012 Mock Draft version 47.7

Image

Things to note:

-If Bulls trade Deng to GS for the #7 Perry Jones could possibly fall out of the lotto. I would expect Bulls to then Draft Waiters or Lamb, meaning all 3 SG's (Lamb/Waiters/Rivers) will be off the board by the time we pick.

-If Bulls trade Deng to TOR for the #8 pick, the results stay the same (Waiters/Lamb @ #8 & #11).

I wish. Pistons are not going to give up on Knight. They even went as far as move Stuckey to the 2 guard. I think Detroit would turn that offer down.

Why would Detroit slaughter themselves just to help us?

And Kerrsed that mock looks good. Maybe M-Jax can motivate PJ3. Hand down, MAN DOWN!

I dunno what Portland does at #11 if Lillard is gone...

A couple names that continue to soar up boards are Damian Lillard and Austin Rivers. Lillard is the consensus top PG in the draft and now has forced Portland's hand. A league source tells PBD that the Blazers were impressed by Lillard's workout last week and now are under the impression that Lillard will be snatched up by either the Raptors or Hornets. Because of that belief there is a growing pressure on Blazers GM Neil Olshey to take Lillard at 6 or focus on Dion Waiters or Kendall Marshall at 11.

Rivers on the other hand has surged in front of Jeremy Lamb on several lottery teams' draft boards and may have secured a promise with the Hornets at 10. Speaking of Lamb, the UCONN guard sprained his ankle and has begun to slip a bit but it sounds like his floor is 13 with the Suns.

Draft Rivers and buy a late pick to draft Jeffrey Taylor (who IMO is the best perimeter defender in the draft)

Trade Frye & JD to Utah for Millsap......OR trade Dudley to Minnesota for Ridnour and #18 and draft Royce White (guy is like Diaw/Magic without the "great" court vision that Magic had and without the conditioning/unselfishness problems that Diaw had)

Ridnour/??, Telfair
Rivers, Brown
Taylor, Childress
White/Millsap, Morris
Gortat, Frye

This way we also get rid of the bum Robin Lopez replacing him with Frye who was at his best when playing backup center. It will also help utilize Morris post game since the paint won't be clogged anymore.

This deal is atrocious for Detroit and not so surprisingly great for Phoenix.

So, as of today, it is Lamb and I am cool with that.

Waiters
Lamb
Rivers
no Ross!! Bigtime reach at 13.

Lets just focus on getting another pick, to hell with what SG falls to us, that is beyond our control....should have tanked!! We would have at least been worst than Portland. They got the #6 and #11 by tanking and giving away players. If we come out of this draft with just one pick, we can cancel the brighter days ahead feel good thoughts for a long long time.....

Any of those three in this order and I'd be happy with the pick:

1 Waiters/Lamb
2 Rivers

...It's all good brah

Hollinger's model and Win Shares both project Waiters as really good.

Lamb+PJ show up on the bust list.

Rivers/Ross/Lamb don't fare well compared to Waiters.

At this rate, Waiters won't drop to 13: http://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2012/ ... -past-suns

The frenzy is getting impressive.

Still - and I'd like some thoughts on this - I can't see a team so willing to draft Waiters after he bailed on the combine, declined interviews, and has refused to workout individually for other teams.

If Toronto has brought in Lamb, Rivers, Lillard, Marshall, Machado - and not Waiters - why would they risk drafting the one player they haven't seen personally if one of those others impressed and was available?

God damn I hope we draft Waiters. I wouldn't put too much stock into the thought that teams are paying big time direction to John Hollinger. Nor do I think a team would take him despite him cancelling workouts. It's between us and Portland methinks. I'm no basketball statistics guru but I have a big hard on (no homo) for players that rate high using advanced statistics and the like.
