Nor do I think a team would take him despite him cancelling workouts. It's between us and Portland methinks. I'm no basketball statistics guru but I have a big hard on (no homo) for players that rate high using advanced statistics and the like.

Definitely agree with that. I read on VotS that the Suns have a couple analytic doctor geeks working with the scouts. Promising.

Chad Ford released an updated mock today. He has Waiters going 7th, Lillard 8th, Rivers 10th, Lamb 11th and Ross to us.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft201 ... -version-8

I have a feeling Drummond is going to slide to #9. I think Portland promised Waiters at 6, and the GMs for 5, 7 and 8 all feel they need to win now and will not likely take a project like Drummond.

That looks terrible for us. I don't even know if Ross has value at #13 or if it is a reach. But, I guess with #13 you can't expect to get a top two player at the position you value the most.

All,

When you post things from ESPN Insider, could you copy and paste the article (or at least the rankings) into your post for people that don't have a subscription?

^^I think technically we're not allowed to post more than a paragraph or so from external sources, and then we're to direct users to the source material. Not many follow that rule with free sites(even though we should, because they're losing ad money), but we should be more stringent with sites behind pay walls.

TL;DR: If you're going to post material from subscription sites, keep your excerpt limited to a paragraph. And try to keep that rule in mind with free sites, too...although I don't think that's going to catch on any time soon.

It's tough to post the rankings with the way he does his mocks. He does have a chat going on right now that will probably give more insight into the reasons behind his rankings though.

I keep going back and forth on who I would be happy to see the Suns draft. At one point I've wanted Rivers, Ross, and Waiters. Never been really interested in Lamb, something rubs me the wrong way about him.

It seems as if a lot of you have grown cold on Terrence Ross though and I'm curious to know why. Out of him, Rivers, and Waiters I would argue he is:

-The best shooter by far, perhaps the most translatable skill in the NBA.

-Has the best size and length

-Has potential to be a great defender

Is it because Rivers and Waiters have a better chance of becoming 'stars'?

I would personally go Waiters, Ross then Rivers.

Mooch - I am still high on Ross. However, for me he is more of a fit IF Nash comes back. I think if we run our same system Ross makes sense for several reasons. First, he would be the best person to help our floor spacing and 3 pt shooting. We ranked very low in 3 pt shooting last year for the first year in a while. Also, with Hill getting older, he would be a nice replacement as a wing defender. Even starting him and Dudley at 2/3 would give us pretty decent wing defenders.

However, if we lose Nash, I think Waiters would be a great pick up, because he can initiate offense and take it to the hole. If we are going with Brooks or Telfair at pg, then Waiters makes more sense.

I, along with Sun Scorched would also personally go Waiters, Ross and then Rivers. Though I would probably put Lamb in there at 3.

I haven't really soured on Ross as much as the fact that I have warmed up to Waiters recently. But I'll be shocked if Waiters is there at 13.

If the Suns are going with Telfair at PG, I might as well shoot myself now.

First I sold myself on Lamb when we were getting Waiters

...then I let Kerrsed sell me on Rivers when we were getting Rivers.

Then I just watched all of the highlights I could on all the SGs....and I was SOLD on Waiters, when Rivers started jocking Toronto.

THEN it appeared that EVERYONE notice how good Waiters was simultaneously, especially with JIM B saying he was the most talented guard he ever had and Chad Ford saying he was the best PER guy since Wade.

The I was really sold on Waiters and knew we had no chance at getting him..........

Anyways get me PJ3 if Lamb, Rivers, and Waiters are all gone! Ross is Rush 2.0 no thanks. I'd rather go down swinging than settling for a walk.

 It would be hard to watch. I would rather just sign Blake Ahearn, if he isn't under contract with Utah still.

Telfair won't be the starting PG this year. There are a lot of young, average-above average PG's out there with potential that we can pick up for cheap and on the short term. But that is the problem with this draft. They way it is shaking out the SG's we want will be gone and I will bet if it comes down to Ross and Marshal, we are going Marshal.

I'd sign Patty Mills for a song and start him over Telfair & Brooks.

I'd sign Flynn.

Then draft Waiters and Melo.

Then Trade Nash/Gortat to NY for the other Melo.

Flynn/Waiters/Melo/Warrick/Melo <------- All "Cuse team !!!!

Sun Scorched's Super Awesome Mega Fun Time Mock Draft of the Century

1 - NOH - Davis
Nothing to see here. Move along.

2 - CHA - Robinson
Do you want to have a project front-court? No. But you're the Bobcats and you draft BPA + Size here. Robinson led the NCAA in rebounding and will be featured in the paint with Biyombo on weak-side duty.

3 - WAS - Beal
Creating their back-court of the future with a universally heralded SG is too much to pass up for the Wiz. Word is they are high on him and like his perimeter scoring, something they need badly.

4 - CLE - Barnes
Cleveland is sensitive to keeping their new, star rookie PG happy. What better way to do it than to draft Irving's best friend?

5 - SAC - Drummond
I thought this was MKG for some time, but have recently begun to believe that SAC doesn't let Drummond slip. They have enough players stuck on the wing - what they'll want come draft day is someone to slot next to Cousins.

6 - POR - Lillard
Olshey loves Lillard. Lillard likes the Blazers. Lillard won't be around when POR selects 11th. Lillard will be a Trail Blazer.

7 - GSW - Kidd-Gilchrest
The Warriors absolutely luck out here. MKG isn’t the sexy pick that a lot of high lottery teams are hoping for, but the Warriors need help at SF badly. A backcourt of Curry, Thompson and Kidd-Gilchrest along with Lee and Bogut creates a scary starting 5.

8 - TOR - Lamb
Though he left his workout with TOR early, Stefanski only had great things to say about Lamb (and Rivers). This pick allows the Raptors to slide DeRozan to SF to create a dynamic perimeter duo.

9 - DET - Henson
Henson fits perfectly next to Monroe. Word is the Pistons are high on his polish. His collegiate stat line helps finish out the rest of this story.

10 - NOH - Rivers
Coach Williams is close friends with the Rivers’ family and has known Austin for some time. The opportunity to pair Davis with Rivers gives the Hornets a chance to pair two of the drafts most dynamic players together for four years.

11 - POR - Leonard
Portland does the less risky thing here and drafts a C later in the lottery. They still get upside in Leonard, but also a surefire 7’1” center to slot in next to Aldridge for the foreseeable future.

12 - MIL - Zeller
The Bucks are pissed at being scooped on Leonard, but take Zeller to fill their hole in the middle. Despite what the Bucks may think, Zeller is a better win-now piece and will complement their current roster much better.

13 - PHX - Waiters
Phoenix picks Waiters at #13 and runs away screaming and crying because of how happy they are.
