I'm going to risk it and assume Pingalore is 100% right on. This is the best news I've heard in a year or so (besides Dwight's opt in).

We're going to see the GM Hennigan era in Orlando. It's going to be an immediate vast upgrade from Otis and I'm hoping a beginning of a Buford type GM. The guy with the FO personnel and individual knowledge to take this franchise to the upper echelons of best managed teams. That's downright scary for the league with the DeVos' support/pockets and Dwight Howard anchoring it.

GM Hennigan is the fastest rising candidate from them all really and is young and impressionable on top. I know he's going to be a heavy voice in who's the next HCoach so I really feel the vibe is to finish a championship pedigree overhaul from GM to HC and hire Shaw, who is doubly impressionable and championship experienced on top of being mentioned as players' coach. A pitch from Hennigan and Shaw to Dwight is really the best possible combo of people to present Dwight to extending/staying.

I think the goal now, is to hopefully see GM Hennigan get in DeVos and Martin/FO's ears about keeping Dwight to his opt in year regardless of extension or not. There is no point of losing Dwight until he can actually walk out those doors as a UFA forever, if he will even want to. I think Shaw and the team will have a better year chemistry-wise then last year's team. And that's critical because I think GM Hennigan/Shaw/Martins will pitch to Dwight of a 1 season of patience for a strong #Summer13 cap space bonanza so Dwight and us get a dramatically improved Magic team finally, grabbing among some vast combo of All Stars and rising players like Monta or Iggy or Smith or Harden or Paul or etc etc. All while GM Hennigan fills the draft picks and role players very well in the meantime. C'mon guys, time to get corny and say its Magic Time! with amazing confidence again!

Hennigan sounds great to me. Having someone onboard who's picked someone as good as Ibaka with a pick in the early 20's makes me feel good about what he could do with our #19. Hopefully he could sell Dwight on the prospect of building the team the right way, and also potentially lure Harden over next summer. If not, I'd feel the team was in good hands for a rebuild through the draft if Dwight leaves.

I'd like Hennigan, but I won't trust Ping.

I don't buy this, "it's going to be a youth movement BS." He literally drafted around the Spurs' super old core Big 3 and they went to the WCF this year and 1st place league records two years in a row. I mean, if Dwight or anyone voices that, GM Hennigan can point that out and the discussion is effectively shot to hell. I'd say he must've been such a high riser in the two top managed franchises because he must possess great abilities in all facets of GM'ing. I think the Magic liked his advanced interviewing responses that portended to his GM plans of action beyond scouting and drafting. I'd hope it's #Summer13 cap space, it makes too much sense to me but if GM Hennigan had better plans to keep Dwight or get Dwight to extend even, his resume speaks for itself in terms of his Magic planning/managing.

I think Martins appreciated his scouting acumen mostly for that ability to build around even win now teams and gain assets for trades. And like the OMDaily tweet said, Hennigan seemed to come off as the most impressionable and confident candidate. I think the Magic made the A+ choice with the intent to keep Dwight as a Magic for life first also.

He's a young guy only 30.....he has the pedigree.....not a bad choice to hand over the keys to....but is he just GM? or POB? i just hope that it isn't a situation where Bower is the POB....hasn't had a job in 2 years and all of a sudden he'll have a lot of power in the front office.....things will work themselves out i guess....

According to Spurs' fans a few yrs ago, Hennigan was a nobody and had zero influence on their drafts. He was only hired to the Spurs because of his friendship with Presti (Presti hired him). Most even wondered why he didn't immediately leave with Presti, to Seattle, when Sam got the job.

I'm still searching for OKC comments on him.

Why must you ruin this candidate for me too! Why!!! LOL

But seriously, I hope we hire him and he doesn't turn out to be a bad GM, obviously.

@IAMAGM: Hawks have free agents Jamal Crawford, Ray Allen and Alonzo Gee on their radar http://t.co/xGf9mIwS

I don't mind us hiring Hennigan

Sorry if this was already posted

@JoshuaBRobbins: #Magic have not yet made a choice on their next GM. No offer has been extended yet. All 3 finalists have met w/DeVoses.

That was at 10:00pm EST

I'm curious to know what makes Hennigan a better candidate than Weaver. I see Weaver right next to Presti everytime I see him.

I'd have preffered Weaver over Hennigan, but with the candidates left, we can't go wrong with Lindsey or Hennigan. We will go really wrong if we hire Bower.

Maybe they see Hennigan as the next Presti and the newest NBA Wunderkind and want to jump on the youth movement? Also, maybe Weaver told them he wants full control whereas Hennigan could of told them he would be OK with a group effort? Maybe Hennigan just blew them away in interviews?

No idea really, but whatever the reasoning, as long as its not bower ill be happy

Maybe Weaver is content being the Assistant Manager of the Thunder, meanwhile Hennigan relishes the opportunity of becoming a GM.
