What's your point. Escobar is an OBP guy who's year last year is showing to be more an aberration then the new norm. Like I said, the Jays may deal whoever returns more value.

I wonder if we could get Youkilis from the RedSox. I doubt that they would trade with us though.

Blue Jays trade:
d'Arnaud
Cooper
Gose

Arizona Diamondbacks trade:
Trevor Bauer
Miguel Montero (owed a lot of money, which brings down trade value)

THEN

Blue Jays trade:
JPA
Luis Perez
Kelly Johnson
Cash (eat some of Kelly's contract)

Oakland trades:
Jarrod Parker

Then we get a top 10 catcher, 6 years of Bauer and 6 years of Jarrod Parker, Arizona gets their favorite catcher d'Arnaud and a great OF in Gose, and finally Oakland get's a good reliever, a good young controllable catcher and a 2B rental (They are only 2.5 games off the division leader further than us so they have a better shot.) with cash.

Just bored and wanted to throw out an idea, feel free to tell me how crazy and stupid it is.

I'm either overvaluing D'Arnaud's worth or under hyping Bauer, but think if both teams wanted to do that deal, it could be done for a straight up swap.

Not sure why Oakland would even do this deal - they've always said they were contending for 2014, and already have a more atheltic JP Arencibia clone in Derek Norris.

Oh yeah for sure, but I wanted Miguel Montero as well. He is controlled under a decent contract and has been good throughout his career. Career slash line of .271/.341/.447 is quite impressive for a catcher, and he's OBP'ed .350 or higher his last 2 seasons (including this one). Maybe Gose + Cooper is a bit steep, but he'd cost quite a bit. I think d'Arnaud could be traded for Bauer straight up.

JP Arencibia could be flipped I guess, it's not too uncommon that you get a 3rd team involved. But never mind, if we were offered Cooper for Justin Upton we wouldn't say no because we already had a RF. I think they are in talent acquisition mode, so you never know.

Thanks for the feedback, I was expecting a lot worse ahah.

Anyone have any ideas on what EE could land us? What about a package like EE + Oliver or Esco + JPA + Snider/Cooper? I'm finding it hard to guage the value of most of out guys this year, although I'd bet they are lower than most people here expect.

I'm inclined to keep EE, the team trading for him will have no chance of recouping draft picks so as good of a hitter as he is we're not gonna get much for a 2 month rental. The Jays on the other hand will be in a win win situation at the end ofthe season, they offer him a 1 year ~12 million dollar deal and they either get a good hitter on a risk free one year deal or they get draft picks.

Oliver is obviously the number 1 trade candidate on the team, we could get back a solid B prospect for him but we might be able to extract the most value out of him by packaging him with other pieces like we did with Dotel and Frasor last year.

Me too. He reminds me of Bautista's situation a couple years ago, 1 solid year with changes to his swing signed to a bargain deal. I bet we can sign him for 5 years for under 8M/season. You have to take risk in the AL East.

The biggest thing to remember is if we trade EE, the team that acquires him gets no picks when/if he leaves. He is a true rental. This takes down his trade value a bit. Also, factor in that he has a streaky history, he doesn't get us as much as what people think. Stupid CBA changes!

Bumping this to discuss trade rumours/ideas before the first deadline coming up. Currently the Jays are believed to be scouting Garza and Liriano, but there are several teams involved for the mentioned players.

Seems like a bidding war will happen on several pitchers , as there is 5-10 teams looking at almost every pitcher available.

I was thinking, maybe we should try to move Rajai Davis?

Here's the thing, he has a team option for 2013 with a 500k buyout (3M option). This obviously improves his value, he can be used as a rental or he can be easily retained for 2013. Another thing is now with Snider up we have what looks like a full time LFer, so Rajai will be demoted. He also had that big game in Boston to boost the ol' stats. If we trade him I personally think we can get a B-/C+ level prospect.

Ricky Romero for Ervin Santana

would you do that deal?

both guys have borderline ace material when going hard but both are having awful seasons, especially Romero. Would u swap them if say u had the chance to do so?

Santana is a FA after next season. Romero is signed fairly cheaply through 2015 with a TO for 2016. Contract wise I stick with Romero.

Montero is a top 5 catcher & Bauer is our top prospect. Snakes are keeping both... If anyone is traded it will be Tyler Skaggs & Chris Young. I think Arizona would be interested in Lawrie but he's untouchable so i don't think the two make good trade partners (well expect for Aaron Hill).
