Re: Dion Walters vs Bradley Beal
This is just comical that someone feels player A gets a pass because he is 3/4" taller than player B. Player B can play his natural position at the 2, but player A must learn how to run an offense because that 3/4" is going to be too much for him to overcome.

Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry is the same reason why Waiters is a terrible fit for Cavs.

kd35sneighbor wrote:So really, you guys would rather have him a hard time fighting his limitations at the SG' spot than groom him to become a scoring PG (which the league is turning PG's into these days and majority of them are)
what limitations? if waiters plays to his potential and is used properly, he'll be on the ball regardless of how you classify him position wise. on the other end of the floor, he has no control over who guards him.
if you havent noticed, small ball is en vogue. look at the lineups the mavs used last yrs finals. even this yr, the majority of the teams in the playoffs end up playing small at the end of games. height is becoming less and less of an issue on the perimeter because hardly any guards have the post ability to take advantage of their size and a lot of post play in general is taken away by help defense, scrambling defense and the flop. the only place height becomes a factor on the perimeter is when closing out and contesting shots. having prototype height/length is ideal, but not having it shouldnt automatically force a position change.

Dude, stop back-tracking. In a draft supposedly full of Anthony Davis and handful of role players, you said "Dion Waiters looks like an actual star". Now all of a sudden when someone without the memory of a 5-year old calls you out for a post you made bashing Waiters a day earlier, you switch your argument to "I think he should be groomed into a PG like Westbrook". So are you telling me that you would prefer Cleveland skipping someone who "looks like an actual star" at #4 in favor of drafting a role player like Bradley Beal?
If that was actually the case in the first place (i.e. not retroactively after you were called out), why start a thread about Dion Waiters vs Bradley Beal, who is an SG? Seems kinda odd, doesn't it? Why not Waiters vs. Lillard or Waiters vs. Marshall?

The Curry/Ellis pairing failed because GS had no interior presence on defense.

See, you're focusing too much on the difference of height between player A and B. Bottom line is that player A is already undersized AS IS, and if you consider that player B is shorter than player A -- then player A doesn't pass the test. Why is that concept so hard to grasp?

Man I'm not even gonna argue with this. I'm not backtracking at all, I believed from the start Waiters is better than Beal, period. For that post it was all about his fit for the Cavs. And I started this thread because of their similar game and potential in the NBA. Waiters looks more like a star to me. You can continue to try and troll me and say I backtracked. Whatever. I said my point and I have no reason to lie.

Also search all my posts about who the Cavs should draft (I have many), and not one says Beal. I am lobbying for Barnes.

Oh, I get it now. You clearly started this thread to compare Waiters as a PG prospect to Beal as a SG prospect. My bad.
kd35sneighbor wrote:Yes, Dion is a little shorter but I watched this guy and he looks better than Beal. So why is Beal being held higher in regard? Dion looks like an actual NBA star.

Beal does more things, is younger, has more upside, and his Freshman season was way more productive than Waiters freshman season. What more needs to be said?

-I believe Waiters is better than Beal even though one is a PG and the other is a SG (albeit a bit undersized), they both have the same game except Waiters has a more advanced/refined game suited for the NBA.
so they have the same game, except one is a little more advanced. Just because you say he is, one is a "big" pg and another is an "undersized" sg. If they have similar games why not just make Beal a pg and now you have a supersized pg who is even younger you can groom.
So in short--beal and waiters have similar games except Waiters is the better player/prospect. Beal would fit better on cleveland because he's just "undersized" but because Waiters is "very undersized" he will be forced to play point. The cavs already have Irving so that's a bad fit, so they should go after Beal/someone else. So you made this thread to say the pg waiters is better than the sg Beal.
Do you understand how illogical all this this sounds unless it's a roundbout way of saying Beal is better because of his measureables?

Re: Dion Walters vs Bradley Beal
OMG. One last time...
Beal is a better fit for Cleveland because he is passable for a SG but JUST BARELY.
But Waiters will be a better player (IN MY OPINION) due to what I have seen from his overall game.

This is why this question of height is silly to me. Look at tall 2s in the league, let's take rip Hamilton. Put rip all 6'7 185 of him on the block with all 6'4 220 of waiters and u think rip is gonna just get to his spot every time? U think there's nothing he can do against posting players? If he plays ball pressure in ur shirt d and uses his size to his advantage, he'll be fine

Re: Dion Walters vs Bradley Beal
Dion Wiaters is far from a PG. Even if he's short for a 2 guard and that makes him a little worse defensivley, then so what? Every single player on you team has to great defensively? With solid interior D its not going to make a massive difference in the Cavs overall team D.
Him an Kyrie would be a great fit

Re: Dion Walters vs Bradley Beal
I'm super high on Bradley Beal. He's going to be a stud in the NBA. After Anthony Davis, he's my next best prospect.
He can shoot, rebound, pass and defend. Unselfish, great character, great teammate and works hard. Great size and athleticism. He has the whole package IMO.
Waiters is intriguing, but I just don't see it like everyone else is. He's not even close to the same level as Beal IMO.
