Re: Trading the #2 pick - dicussion (merged)
The only deal I'd do with Chicago for our pick back would be something along the lines:
Trade #2 down to a pick in #6-10 range (and more obviously). Trade the highest pick for #28 and our first and use the extra assets acquired for #2 to build the team this year.
Let's say Portland, for whatever reason, was fine with #6 and #11. I'd do #6 for #28 and our first OR #11 for our first. Other than that? We'll just take a risk of Chicago getting a good pick in a few years.

Re: Trading the #2 pick - dicussion (merged)
If the front office gets to the end of the workout & evaluation process, and is still not in love with one of these guys at 2, they will find a way to trade down and get rid of a player. Tyrus is the albatross they seek to jettison.
If we offered the #2 and Tyrus in a deal strictly for a single pick (no way we'd get two unless in was mid round) which would you be OK with?
Cleveland at 4?
Sacramento at 5?
Portland at 6?
Golden State at 7?
Any lower? How low would you go??

Both of Houston's picks plus one of their role players?
investigate Adam Silver

At this point I'd be over the moon if we traded back to Houston's picks and got Royce White and either Meyers Leonard or anybody with a jumpshot.

I think any trade out of the top 6 is probably a loss in value

I think the ideal situation right now for us would be this.....
We Trade Cleveland our 2nd and 31st to them for 4th, 24th, 34th.
Draft starts Davis. MKG. Robinson. and then we land Beal.
Then we deal the 24th and 34th to Dallas for the 17th.
Then at 17th we take Moe Harkless or Royce White.
I think we all would be happy with this draft including Cleveland.

We may disagree about the players picked but I also love this deal. Dropping back to 4 we still get a high-quality player. I would bet Cleveland takes Beal so in that scenario we'd probably end up with MKG (ugh).
In reality, I see no reasdon for Cleveland to trade up. The guy they want will be there (Barnes).
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

How about doing a deal with the Hornets?
CHA: #2, Tyrus Thomas
NOLA: #10, #46, Jason Smith, Xavier Henry, Jarrett Jack
We remove our cap issue, grab three solid players, and two picks. It may not be the prettiest deal but I think it's realistic return value.
Then, in a perfect world, we would flip #10 and #43 for #14 and #16. Take Harkness and Royce White.
Kemba - Jack
Hendo - Williams
Harkness - Mags
White - Smith
Biyombo - Mullens
It's a start.

Man, we'd get roasted in the media for that but I'd do a backflip if we got Royce, Harkless and got rid of Tyrus.

I go no lower than 6 to get rid of tyrus. Something like 2 for 6 + 11 and then package the 11 with tyrus to Cleveland for the 24 and 34.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

I agree. We shouldn't lose the 2nd pick if we go lower than 6 without getting some SERIOUS good stuff back

What about 2 and Tyrus to the Wiz for #3, #32, either Booker/Vesely/Singleton and Andray Blatche?
I know Blatche sucks, is fat and lazy but he can score in the post and maybe a change in scenery and constant kick in the pants by Dunlap and Co will reap some benefit?

Blatche seem to pretty much be the anti-Coach D type of player. Can't imagine that would go well at all.
I'd rather take my chances with Tyrus (finally) learning something under Coach D than Blatche.

Not interested in a Tyrus/Blatche swap at this point. We amnesty Tyrus or give him one more opportunity.
#2 for #3 and Vesely
I'm more than happy with that. Take a gamble that Vesely is just raw. I'd even offer to swap #31 and #32 if necessary. I'd be more interested in Crawford though. He's my kind of player.

I like that. And that is the kind of creative move that Cho would do. At 6 you get whoever is left over from Barnes, Drummond, MKG, Beal or Robinson. My guess is Portland would do this trade to jump ahead and draft Drummond. Beal would then go to the Wiz with Barnes to the Cavs. Leaves Robinson/MKG at 6, which there are rumors that those could be the two we end up picking between at 2 anyway. I think in that scenario the Kings could go MKG, leaving us Robinson.
With 24 I would look at a guy like Quincy Miller or Royce White (if he's still there). Then you would also have very good value with 34+31 that you could likely package to trade back into the 1st or just keep. If Portland really loves Drummond, I could see them doing 2 for 6/11. Would it be worth it for Clevelend to trade 24 + 34 for Tyrus + 11 though? If the Cavs do take Barnes, taking a guy like Rivers at 11 would be very intriguing for them. Kyrie/Rivers/Barnes/Thompson/Varajoa is a lineup with a lot of potential...very young, but a lot of potential.

2 for 6 and 10? Just saying. Throw in TT and you got a deal.

I'd do it only because we'd get one of the guys in our poll, lose TT and have a chance to draft a lottery guy again at 10. I wouldn't do it for 7 and 10, or 6 and 20 (just for value references). It's a tight space to fit a trade in there but I think 6 is possible. I wouldn't even mind Barnes at 6.

It'd be 11 instead of 10, but I'd definitely be interested in a deal centered around 2, 6, and 11. Though I have to think that if Portland was discussing it with Washington, than we've already declined the offer.

Ah I forgot it's 11 too
Still I'd do it. I'd even give them 31 since I don't value it very highly and we'd already have like 600 guys on a rookie contract on our team.

Re: Trading the #2 pick - dicussion (merged)
31 actually may be one of those most valuable picks for teams outside of the top 10 because of the depth of this draft. Teams can draft 31 and get good first round talent while only paying 2nd round money. Many of the experts have said in this draft picks 31-40 are VERY valuable. I wouldn't just throw it away.
If I had to guess, I'll bet Portland offered 6 + 11 and Cho said they would have to take TT back as well. They then quickly moved on. I still can't figure out Portland's end game here. They are said to really like Lilliard at 6 and desperately need a PG.
I wouldn't mind a guy like Barnes at 6 either, but I doubt he gets past Cleveland at 4. That would mean a guy like MKG, or maybe even a Beal/Robinson might even slip.
