You're acting like WAS just received garbage and NO needed to make that deal when it was the other way around. The Wizards wanted no part of Lewis around anymore, especially when he's dogging it on the court. {/quote]

And for 13.7 million dollars they could have just paid him to go away without taking on two bad contracts.

Yet they did.

I believe Washington made a stupid deal, and I still think they have, and I don't believe that New Orelans didn't shop Okafor and Ariza, because it's been reported for weeks that they have, with the #10 pick.

Maybe this is the only deal that would take them both without the #10 pick.

But to assume they could have gotten more calls facts into evidence you couldn't possibly have access to. With the available facts and data (including the rumors that say they have both been on the market for weeks) I believe this is probably what New Orleans thought was their best offer.

And since they save 30 million dollars and still have two picks in the top 10 - I'm inclined to believe they know what they're doing (and that the wizards as usual don't)

Welp....this isn't good for the Sixers. Wall-Beal-Ariza-Nene-Okafor with their young bench is probably better than anything the Sixers can put together this summer...and now that the Hornets are going to have a crapload of cap room we can take Gordon off our list. They'll be able to afford anything anybody wants to give him now. This trade killed two birds with one stone for us. That Nene-Okafor front court might be the best in the whole East, Wall is set to break out now that he has competent teammates and theyll have an awesome shooter and defender on their wings. Wizards will be a playoff team. We better have some big moves in the works and not get left behind.

Washington still has Blatche, so that pretty much means they will go nowhere.

Seriously, I don't know if Okafor is an upgrade over Javale and he is paid a ton more. Nene was shipped out of Denver after receiving his big extension because he was unmotivated and lazy. Ariza is great...if he's coming off your bench. And they still have Blatche!

I fail to see how Washington became a playoff team.

Blatche is easily disposed of as Washington has not used its amnesty yet. This trade (to me) makes it even more likely Blatche will no longer be a member of the wizards effective July 11th.

Oh i'm not scared of the Wizards just because they got two aging role players in Ariza and Okafor. This also doesn't promise that they will draft Brad Beal either. Jordan Crawford put up some big numbers last year people... I still think they go with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist but Beal is a likely option considering they do have Chris Singleton in the fold as well.

The wizards front court is emeka okafor and nene

The sixers front court is:

*crickets chirping*

They have a better front court than the sixers, at this moment.

Anyone making any decisions on how the 12/13 season plays out before the draft is probably a bit off anyway - too much is in flux

Well yeah considering right now we have 5 people under contract + Brand I'd hope they are better.

The Wizards roster after this trade as currently stands > Sixers roster this past season. Considering we'll only have 5 people under contract after Brand is amnestied we better be making some big moves. Nene was fat and lazy? No his contract just sucked balls and they wanted to go young with McGee, Mozgov and Faried. Ariza does the same things that Iguodala does at half the price and he's actually 2 years younger, not an "aging vet". Nene and Okafor is a better front court than we've put out there in 10 years unless you wanna debate that Webber on his last leg and Sam Dalembert back in 05-06 was a better one seven years ago.

How does it work then? Because Beal and Wall have more talent than anyone on our roster and Ariza, Nene and Okafor are all very solid players with playoff experience. That lineup should be very good defensively as well. It's not a bunch of ballhogs either (Wall has averaged 8 assists a game in each of his first two seasons with terrible players around him). They should have good chemistry from the start. That team fits perfectly with each players role. Even has some nice young players off the bench that fit their roles as well with Crawford, Singleton, Seraphin and Vesely.

well teams generally play more than 5 people for one thing.

plus okafor kind of sucks now. still better than hawes, though not as much as a few years ago.

should've dumped Iguodala/Brand for Okafor + Ariza + fillers.

problem would've been solved for about a few months

then everyone would start complaining again, but at least a few months worth of silence

money can't buy

I can't think of any sane person who would enjoy that trade for a picosecond

Okafor averaged less blocks than Hawes per game and only slightly more points and rebounds per minute on the floor. He's a flaming pile of garbage at this point in his career. Wizards can have him

He only played 27 games this year on an extremely awful team with no direction. He's averaged about 2 blocks along with 10 points and 10 rebounds in every other year he's played in the league. And he's been relatively healthy for every other season too. His impact isn't shown in the box score a lot of times either...he's a better version of Perkins.

Lou taking some abuse from fans on twitter over his decision to opt out. Spencer and Andre coming to his defense. Funny that are three of the most likely guys to not be back next year.

Sorry...but who here has made a decision on how the 2012/2013 season will play out? Certainly not me if that is what you were implying.
Do I need to give reason as to why I don't see Washington as a formidable opponent or a team that can overtake our team?
Their lineup on paper certainly looks like it's going to be good defensively but oh....Who the hell is their coach? Whats the teams direction? Whats their style of play? Hey I remember the same Wizard team making the same type of move right before the draft a couple of years ago. They traded their pick for Randy Foye, and then got Mike Miller to make a run at dominance...Well that run led to them being bad enough to draft John Wall with the first pick the following year.
Maybe their frontcourt on paper will be better than ours, but two heavily injury prone veteran big guys in Nene and Okafor are hardly a reason to think that Washington can suddenly overtake us in the east. If I had to make an educated guess I would guess that Washington is probably going to be relying more on their young core (Wall, Crawford, Singleton, Vesely, rookie) than they are Ariza and Okafor.
There is no way I wanted any part of Emeka Okafor or Trevor Ariza at this time. Ariza was already available to us a couple of years ago and we declined (smartfully). I expect Washington to be improved upon last season (especially defensively) but in no way can a predict the future or the outcome of the upcoming season.

Can't wait for this off season to move forward. I'm definitely in the minority but if we could sign Hawes for 10 mil for 2 years would u do it?
