Here is the best trade scenario I could come up with involving the Suns, T-Wolves and Rockets

Wolves get the shaft. If you take out Derrick Williams we might do it.

All you have to do is listen to Henson talk for 5 seconds and you know he's not this year's Whiteside. If Whiteside had 1/2 a brain he would have been a top 3 pick.

Gortat + Dudley for Williams + Johnson + 18

Which IMO is great value for us.

Maybe throw in a S&T - Courtney Lee for Barea + Memphis '13 1st
Amnesty Darko - option to re-sign Beasley/Randolph

Rubio/Ridnour
Lee/Ellington/Lee
Dudley/
Love/
Gortat/Pekovic

Both Gortat and Pek only have on year left on their deal. I wouldn't trade Williams for Gortat and I wouldn't trade Johnson AND 18 for Dudley. That is poor value on both sides IMO.

How do you get the shaft?

You come out with two proven shooters, both in their prime, at your two positions of need, in exchange for two young players who have under performed thus far in their career and a mid round pick. This is the kind of trade you make if you want to compete now.

Here's why the Suns are not interested in trading Dudley:

Turnover_21 wrote:He screams good, efficient, smart player. Dude shoots 48.5% form the floor. You know how many wolves shot higher than him last year? Pekovic was the only one. He also shot 38.3% form deep. You know how many of our players shot better? Zero. And he had a down year compared to the previous two. Dudley averages 40% form behind the arc for him career.

Turnover_21 wrote:Also he has a flat 4.25 mil per next 3 years. Good luck finding a better contract than this one.

I agree with the statement on Duds but I think the Suns will consider most anything at this point to get more assets for the rebuild. and while Duds is a good player on a fantastic deal, finding a player who can replace his production for the next 4 years (13/2/5) on a less expensive rookie deal isn't a stretch.

Derrick Williams was 20 years old trying to adjust to a new spot with no training camp. He still post a just under average PER while getting inconsistent minutes. I don't see why people think he was a massive disappointment. Wes Johnson sucks, yes.

Kevin Martin is slightly overpaid(yes he's expiring), and also plays no defense. Dudley is a good role-player, but we don't need to trade a huge upside player for 2 solid players.

We give up all of our assets -- Williams, Johnson, #18, and our cap space -- and our left with a team that would be good enough for a #7 or 8 seed.

I disagree. A whole season with Rubio, Martin, Dudley, Love, and Pec. You would be in the second tier of Western Conference teams. You would be competing with Memphis, LAC, LAL, and Denver.

Has it been so bleak for so long in the Twin Cities that you all have no more hope and are just naturally pessimistic?

Not to mention, we're seriously overpaying.

Wes + 18 + capspace for Martin = fair.

Williams for Dudley = not even close. Williams for Dudley + 13? Okay.

Williams for Dudley + 13? Still overpaying.

Williams for Dudley + 13 + unprotected 2013 pick? Okay.

Yes. A decent roleplayer and a late lotto pick really doesn't do anything for me. An unprotected 2013 1st from Phoenix would at least be close to the top 5 pick value that Williams is worth.

Unprotected pick means it can become 1st overall. Nobody trade unprotected picks unless they get a real star in return.

Why is there K.Martin to MN crap contantly tossed out on the board? ... Sac got rid of him, Houston wants to get rid of him, but we're still willing to give assets to take him on for a year? That's messed up. You cannot improve a team with pathogens as this. If you "overpay" for someone or take on a bad contract, they must have the IQ and atleast two of three qualities: notable upside, unique offensive skillset, defensive capability. KM has 1 of 3 at best.
