I trust that Hennigan won't be giving Clifford the job solely because he's our former assistant. He'll be very thorough with the coaching search. I'd be cool with Malone or Shaw.

Still makes no sense and I don't believe it. Just when I thought Ping was starting to become reliable, he posts something like this...
According to Pingalore's sources, Magic ownership met with Bird, the NBA Executive of the Year, in Boca Raton in recent weeks.

Pingalore was told that the Magic were in "high pursuit" of the former NBA All-Star.

Bird, was intrigued by the Magic's interest but thought there was just too much work that needed to be done with the roster. The Hall of Famer is also dealing with scheduled back surgery that he thought would interfere with his duties with the Magic.

I like Malone but Shaw has the "championship" experience Martins is looking for.

I don't know. The Magic talking to Bird might imply we hire Shaw...

I don't think we have one. Hennigan will have the most say with help from Twardzik, Foyle and others and Martins will probably have to approve any move. BVW pretty much let Otis do what he wanted, I think Martins will try and be a little stricter (he did shoot down Otis trading Dwight for Lopez/Wallace), but hopefully he won't need to be with Hennigan.

They did say they wanted to form a team in the front office, so I think we make another hire.I hope we fire Twardzik and let Hennigan surround himself with people he trusts.

if ping's story is true, (which i doubt) i'm glad we didn't go for bird.

i'm not overly impressed with the way larry legend has built his steam. don't get me wrong, i like that pacers team (and i utterly hated the pacers way back then) but it took them forever to climb out of the rut they dug themselves into. if we are gonna catapult this team into contention, i just don't see bird as the right man for the job...

I like Shaw or Malone for the job. No need for a retread HC hire at this point.

I would be ok if we hired Malone and he brought back Steve Clifford as an assistant. That would be ok with me but not Clifford as HC.

But as most of us have said in one form or another... IN HENNIGAN WE TRUST!!

Would like to see what the consensus is about this.

What if we hear from Hennigan tomorrow in the press conference that he will be keeping Twardzik and Foyle on board because he feels it is best for the team.

Do you all start to flame Hennigan??

Haven't seen this posted yet.

JoshuaBRobbins
Hennigan, Martins and the DeVoses already have talked about potential coaching candidates extensively.
