“That is what I would want to have,” Dragic said. “I really like the Rockets, it is a great organization. I really liked playing for Kevin McHale. He’s a great coach, great guy. He was a player so he has had a lot of experience. He helped a lot with me this season, taught me how to run a team. I hope that in the future, I am still going to be with him.”

“Definitely, I want to be a starter in the NBA,” Dragic said. “I think I showed I can do it. I am really happy I got the opportunity to show what I can do and that I belong here. Still, you know, hopefully next year I am going to run the team. I know I can be a first point guard – it is something I can do.”

So this makes it official. Either him or lowry have to go. I still prefer lowry over dragic because of his defense but either way I won't be too mad..

I take Lowry 9 times out of 10 based on abilities/assumed contract, but since lowry talked about leaving/hating mchale I would trade him easy for a good price

Gortat-Lowry+fillers
Dwight-whatever works(not in favor of this)
Anyone else but Pau...???

I think trading Lowry for #6 pick would be wise. Portland needs a point guard, so it could work. We could then try and get Drummond (Or if someone else better is available).

I know that the Portland fans don't like the idea of moving the 6 for Lowry; but I can see their team making a deal like that so as to avoid the bidding war that will happen with Dragic if we don't bring him back.

Portland has a lot of holes to fill.

Lowry + #16 for #6

I actually do think that getting a player like Lowry on the contract he has would be worth the drop.

here is the article i was talking about
http://www.blazersedge.com/2012/6/18/30 ... raft-night
credit goes to Clips/Roxfan@CF for posting this

Dragic wants to be starter
the big question is how many team he can be starter on and how many can offer him the money he wanted

just name a few team (i'm counting team with young pg out)
Portland
Lakers -- Sessions opt out
Indiana -- they have Hill and Collison, so may not go after Dragic
Sacramento
Phoenix -- Brooks is restricted FA
New York -- may go after Nash or Lin
Brooklyn -- assume they can't re-sign Deron Williams
New Orleans -- we are not sure if they will pick a PG with their #10 pick, they may pick a center Zeller/Leonard since they traded Okafor
Dallas -- they are after Deron Williams

I like our chances now of getting Howard....Orlando wouldn't mind getting either Lowry or Dragic as part of the deal along with another one of our young SF . Looks like we ain't keeping both Lowry or Dragic though Morey mentioned this morning that they will keep both(both getting equal time) so possibly Dragic could be the shooting guard along with Lee but i doubt it. I'm sure they would play Lowry and Dragic at the same time for certain stretches, but more likely one will be with 2nd unit. He is just saying the right thing publically.

I'm sorta leaning this way. I hope Dragic can improve his jumper and defense over the summer. I do like Lowry's defense and cheap contract.

If we could sign Dragic in the 5-6.5m range, I'd totally do that.

Of course. The guy stole your starting job and sent your ass to Phoenix. :(

At this point, it's a toss up. One of them will be traded for sure. I think Lowry has more value, but we're just gonna have to take the best deal that's out there.

I remember when some of us were bitching about Rafer being our starting PG. Now look how far we've come.

Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Kyle Lowry and #14
to Toronto Raptors for
Linas Kleiza, Jose Calderon and #8

Calderon is in the final year of his contract and will make $10,561,985 next season.
Kleiza has one more year + a player option for the next season each at $4,600,000 per season.
Martin is in the final year of his contract and will make $12,939,675 next season.
Scola is signed for 3 more years at $9,408,207, $10,224,622 and $11,041,037
Lowry has two years left on his deal at $5,750,000 next season and $6,210,000 after that.

Rockets
G: Goran Dragic, Jose Calderon
G: Courtney Lee, Zoran Dragic
F: Chandler Parsons, Linas Kleiza, Chase Budinger, Marcus Morris
F: Donatas Motiejunas, Patrick Patterson, Greg Smith
C: Samuel Dalembert, Marcus Camby
Pick #8 = Meyers Leonard or Tyler Zeller (or Andre Drummond if he somehow plummets to #8)
Pick #16 = Doron Lamb or Evan Fournier (I could see Morey making a surprise pick here)

Raptors
G: Kyle Lowry, Jerryd Bayless
G: Kevin Martin, Gary Forbes
F: Demar Derozan, James Johnson
F: Luis Scola, Amir Johnson, Ed Davis
C: Andrea Bargnani, Jonas Valunciunas
Pick #14 = Perry Jones? Moe Harkless?
Pick #37 = Tomas Satoransky?
Pick #56 = Robert Sacre? (Raptors need more Canadian players!)

Why for HOU: move up 6 spots to get a center, get out of Scola's contract, get further under cap
Why for TOR: get starting PG Lowry and 2 other possible starters in Martin and Scola.

I always appreciate your write ups, but seriously? I see that we're going to clear up a lot of cap space, but Kleiza and Calderon are the worst players involved in this package. I think we can do better.

thanks for appreciating. Kleiza ain't so bad for his price. Calderon takes some pressure off Dragic to transition into a full time starter. (Jose had the NBA's best Assist to turnover ratio at 4.50). They are "the worst players" in the deal but they are only temporary stopgaps. One year of Calderon to help Dragic adjust to being a starter. One or two years of Kleiza to help Motiejunas adjust to the NBA.

but yeah the main points are A. moving up in the draft to get Leonard and B. get out of Scola's deal

I would definitely prefer Lowry+16 for 6 over the Raptors deal.
