Essentially, a league for the older generation. Has me excited. Could it work? Give it a read and report back here for all to see.

Re: NBA Silver League - Would this work?
I may be alone, but it wouldn't work if you wanted ME as a customer.
I loved watching guys like Wilt and Bird and Magic and Walton and so on in their primes, but those days are gone forever and only survive via old game replays.
But I'm not paying to watch old athletes try to get up and down a court, for the same reason I don't watch the WNBA. - for me it would be nothing more than a curiosity piece (the WNBA answers the curiosity question of "how good can females get at basketball if they only competed against other females?" but doesn't offer high level hoops ...any top college men's team could dominate every WNBA squad). Frankly the appeal for a game like that would be if it included autograph sessions and opportunities to meet and interact with your old heroes, way more than the crappy basketball. In fact, you don't need the game to do that.
I might channel-hop and out of curiosity catch a few minutes of an Old Timer's Game if one was on TV, but having seen snippets of celebrity games with those guys playing, I'm not interested in watching 2 hours of it ....and I'm certainly not shelling out money and time to go to a game or going to become an ardent fan of such a league. That's my take on it.

It wouldn't be the good old timers, anyway. They have no incentive. It'd be the Lamond Murray and Tony Massenburg types. Balls to that.

Probably, the same thing would happen that happened to the all star weekend legends game.

IIRC Rick Barry went down again to a knee injury in a legends game.
I think a game that would be open for fit men aged 45 and above might work, but fans just want to watch legends of the game. Those guys wore their knees and hips out as professionals, many of them. I think there are guys who maybe played in college or who trained in the other sports or rigorous professions who can hang with many legends. Guys who never made it big might be able to ball at age 50 and beyond. Bring on the church league BALLERZ!
If they want a league like a D-League for older gents, that might be fun.

Like in All Star Game there were two teams, East and West. These legends opened the Saturday program before the two contests. This game combined the excellent physic of some players (the youngest retired) with other glories that barely can run. During 10 years it was a classic in All Star Weekend, and participated players like Oscar Robertson, Rick Barry, George Gervin, Dave Cowens, Dave DeBusschere… After year 1993, NBA decided to finish that games, because of the frequent injuries. The opposite substitute replaced the legend's game. Since 1994 rookies played in the Saturday's All Star Weekend.

Yeah but wouldn't be nice to see a team of Chris Washburn, Antoine Walker, Tim Thomas, Dennis Rodman and Allen Iverson? Don't even worry about the actual game - just film the locker room. That'd be the entertainment.
