Referrees and their influence
I'd just like to preface this with a solemn appreciation for what the Heat accomplished today. I've been rooting for them all season and last, and I was quite happy to see Lebron, Bosh, Battier, Spoelstra etc get their first championship. Was really impressed with how spoelstra in particular was able to conquer the prodigious weight he had on his shoulders all season, battling the downs and keeping the Heats high caliber play alive, and of course Lebron James change of play, unselfishness and overall give it his all every game.
That being said, I can't help but reflect how different things would have been if LeBron had been called for that foul against Durant at the end of game 2. I'm not taking away from the dominant performances they game in game 4 and especially game 5 - they've definitely deserved the last 3 wins...But the success in winning game 2 may have swung the momentum to their side, secure in their knowing the next 3 games would be played in Miami.
One simple call at the end of game 2 may have been the pivotal moment of the 2012 NBA Finals.
When Refs officiate they can sometimes be swung by the energies of the game they ref, especially in a very hyped up Oklahoma City with it's 3 stars vs. the slightly older and more mature but widely felt to be the 2nd best team of the two, can cause the refs to feel compelled to ignore a late foul at the end of game 2 in order to balance power struggle, giving Oklahoma a chance to possibly take one from Miami on their home turf.
Now, of course I'm assuming the foul was seen and then ignored, but they may have just overlooked it. But if it wasn't overlooked, but seen and ignored for roughly the same reasons just stated, is that a reasonable intervention of the refs in the factual development of the game, or for reasons of evening a power struggle, legitimately believe that giving the game to Miami would have compelled the Thunder to react in kind.

They got some favorable calls, but basically they just flat beat us. Nothing more to it. They deserve the title. Chris Bosh is a flake though. Good player, but he needs to stop trying to act tough because he's a pansy. The rest of the team is cool with me, except I have no idea why Chalmers was trying to mix it up with both Perkins and KD. Seemed a bit foolish and uncalled for both times.

Well I guess the Heat fans on this particular thread can only respond with photographs. Kind of pointless. I give Miami ALL the credit in the world for winning that title. I'll take a couple of very mild parting shots on a couple of things the Miami players did, no biggie though. Congrats either way.

Most of you are probably bandwagon fans that don't even live in the state of FL. ONe of you has David Robinson as your avatar. I do appreciate those fans who have enough intellectual ability to actually respond to reasonable basketball discussion with something other than a photograph, but the responses on this thread so far are something you'd see from a kid who knows little to nothing about basketball and just thinks it's cool to be a Heat fan. Maybe some real fans will show up and actually say something worth reading.

You are requesting "real fans" of the Miami Heat. This is where you made your mistake.
