Who to keep/let go

Post#1 » by ReturnofMVP3 » Sat Jun 23, 2012 1:40 am

Who do you think will stay and will be let go (traded, retired, amnestied, bought out, ect) next season?

I really hope Howard retires and maybe we can give Curry a full training camp and he can be useful.

I wouldn't mind everyone else staying though. We probably will have 2 cuts (so we can grab a rookie and at least one ring chaser). So who goes?

Howard, I would imagine, is most likely going to retire and hopefully they just release Curry because he doesn't add anything to this team. I'd like them to keep Terrel Harris for wing depth but I'm not going to be upset if they let him go.

It looks like James Jones, Mike Miller, and Juwan Howard are going to retire, with Curry, and maybe even Pittman, not looking like they'll be brought back. So, that's 2 wings & 3 bigs that will be needed...

Howard will definitely retire. Miller, even though he might have something left, is gonna want to end on that high note. Seven 3 pointers in a close out game. Just a beautiful way to end his career.

JJ sounds like the lockout wore him out. I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to retire too.

Turiaf has a player option that I would expect him to pick up and I wouldn't mind if he did. He's the ideal back-up big

Harris is a restricted free-agent; I don't know what we're gonna do with him.

So that leaves:
Rio/Cole
Wade/ mini MLE
James/Battier
Bosh/Haslem/Anthony
Turiaf/Pittman/#27 probably Festus

Absolute Keepers:
Chalmers
Cole
Wade
LeBron
Battier
Bosh
Haslem
Joel
Pittman

50/50:
Miller - I can't see us amnestying him after last night - yes one game leads me to feel that way. Plus I don't think it would help our cap situation anyways. We'll see how his health is, that's the deciding factor IMO. If Mike does go out, you can't ask for a better ending.

JJ - If he wants to stay we'll keep him. All depends on whether he wants to retire or not. This is his hometown so it's either stay with the Heat or retire IMO.

Harris - To extend or not to extend, that is the question. I say extend.

Retire:
Juwan - Got his ring. I think he's done. One thing to remember is that you need guys at the end of your bench who remain ready and won't complain about minutes. He fits that mold. A great teammate too. If he returns as an end of the bench guy I won't complain.

Gone to another team:
Curry - I feel like he's worked hard to get in shape. He believes that he is capable of playing in the league. He won't play here, so another team is his best bet.

*This all assuming nobody is traded. That could happen at any time.

Also - Cole, Pittman, and Harris need to play in summer league.

Honestly I don't want Curry gone at all. I think he could be viable if Spo gives him a chance and he plays at least one summer league with us. Even if it doesn't work out I'd like him to collect more rings to piss off the knicks and I genuinely like his hard work to get fit for us.

Say MM retires instead of being amnestied does that change anything?

Like let's say he decides to unretire would be able to sign back with the heat by midseason?

We would own his rights I think. He couldn't just go to any team he wanted tho.

Dont fix what aint broken. So we need to keep the core of chalmers, battier, haslem, bosh, wade, lebron, cole.

I like to keep joe anthony, ronny turiaf, james jones, and mike miller. But we can see upgrades like ray allen or dont know who else available.

We definetly need a big

JJ, Miller, and Juwan are probably gone, or at least 2 of the 3 are gonna retire. Curry will probably try to go to another team. I think that's it. I want to keep Terrel, I think he has potential to be a good backup for our team.

We need to add Fab Melo in the draft. Go after Camby and sign Ray Allen. All will fit our philosophy! I'm addition try to stockpile 2nd round picks. They cost less and we can gamble on them. Melo or Ezeli would be great @ 27 pick!

I was thinking the same thing yesterday, curry got caught in a "urgency" thing we did not have the time to fit him into our system, I say, give him another shot with a full training camp.
