Report: Clark "Leaning Toward" Declining Player Option

Post#1 » by drsd » Sat Jun 23, 2012 3:32 pm

Orlando Magic forward Earl Clark is "leaning" toward declining the player option on his contract in order to become an unrestricted free agent, Clark's agent, Happy Walters, told Orlando Pinstriped Post on Friday.

Evan Dunlap appears to have a major scoop.

This would be a major negative to the new GM, but, to be frank, make a lot of sense to Clark. He showed he can play in the NBA. And he should test the NBA waters. He might end back in Orlando, but his pay rate probably takes a bump up no mater where he ends up.

Best wishes!

Give his minutes to Harper and Liggins. I like Clark alot and really like his contract. But, he can do better elsewhere.

Later Earl. I don't think he"ll be anything more than an energy player off the bench. You can actually see the wheels turning when he gets the ball, if he can overcome thinking when he gets the ball and just let it flow naturally he'd have an okay mid range game.

I do like his weak side shot blocking, offensive rebounding, and the fact that you can put him on guys like Lebron and Durant due to his length and mobility. It would be cool to keep him but he isnt a game changer. I think the FO can use that money on better players.

Good riddance. We was nothing more than a border-line role player on this team. People always made him out to be better than he really was.

He started to impress me during the playoffs. Considering what he's owed next season, I understand him opting out for more.

He wasn't a stiff and can certainly improve due to his age. He has good tools to build off of it's going to be on him to get better.

I think he played out of position last year.

He can do well in the right situation and am not sure that is going to be here.

he played the 4 mainly, which is his position... he isn't nearly quick enough to guard three's in the nba. in college it was fine because his length and size bothered MOST threes. in the nba, he has to guard the likes of james, gay, durant, pierce, joe johnson, carmelo, nightly. he would basically be guarding one of those guys 1/4 of the season, not counting the playoffs and he would not be good in that role... therefore he is a 4, with basically no offense.

For a team as un-athletic as we are I wish we could keep him. He's not gone yet so it's a little early to say "good riddance" isn't it?

RawLewD12,

The guy is a tweener but I think he should be a big 3 not a 4 and guard those guys.

He just seemed out of place at the 4.

I feel he can be a defensive stopper or a guy who can contribute some good minutes off the bench but I do not feel he can play the 4 unless your doing small ball.

Either way, Howard, I'd rather have Anthony Randolph through fa for cheap and pj3 than bring Clark back. I don't think he will ever amount to much more than he already is

I hope he stays, he is young, on a great contract, and we still need to fill roster slots with cheap players, at least he can play decent D and block a few shots, thats worth a # 9-10 rotation player.

To agree, the Magic played him a bit a Center. That is never to be his position.

They did play him at center as well.

I feel it is time for him to move on though.

He showed flashes, but overall was a disappointment this year.

Clark could have been better. So could Liggins and Harper. Stan never seemed to really want to give them the chance, so we might not ever know

There were times that I was excited with this guy.
However, I think we could give his minutes to others
