Its the only thing that really makes sense to me. Barnes is the player ive wanted this whole draft, he fills our biggest need is an EXCELLENT FIT next to Nash and would be an great pickup

Agreed, I really wanted Barnes out of this draft as well.

if the draft order goes like this, then for sure we wont get barnes but might get gilchrist

davis, robinson, beal, barnes and then MKG with the 5th pick
but who knows, the cavs can pick MKG with thier 4th pick..

Is MKGs stock dropping or something? Thought he'd be gone top 3.

i dont think we need to give up one of our second rounds to go up, if we give ed(good potential) and the 8th pick, that should be really enough for the 5th pick and one of thier bad contracts...

Just got off the phone with a source in Toronto,

He said we will very likely make a hefty 2 year offer to Captain Canada in the off season, didn't go into specifics but he said that to round out our roster after the signing we would have to let go or trade one or more of our front court assets.

He also mentioned that Barbosa will get an offer from us as well, short term, but hefty. He was very clear that as of right now the intention is to increase our SF depth through draft/trade.

He is also unsure of Bayless/Calderon future here in toronto but said that he would be shocked if both were here next season, especially if we do make a solid offer to nash and he accepts.

Barbosa didnt get an offer that we know of, and was subsequently traded. But all of it was reported here in Feb which was also wrong.

Do I need to pull up all the articles (legit media) speculating on Bayless/Calderons future with the raps pre-March? Same with Nash?

I hope this gets locked because Grange already talked about him earlier this week. Another Rumor thread pushing a narrative, so we can make more fantasy trades. Its like spam here. You have to go 7 pages deep to find Sullinger draft thread because they get moved out with this.

Would not give up 8th, Davis and 37th for Barnes. I would rather stay at 8th and pick Lamb or hope Drummond falls

Right when my mind finally settled for Lamb or Terrence Jones :P
But if we get a sured 2 yr contract for nash, with our loads of cap space i dont mind taking Garcia, Garcias also a pretty all around player, just not very good like Anthony parker now

After starting extremely slow in his freshman season, I had my doubts. I was still on the Barnes bandwagon.

This year, I really got a chance to watch him play. He spends FAR too much time hanging on the perimeter, does not know how to create for anyone else, and has pretty much wasted his elite athleticism at the college level.

For a guy with a ridiculous wing-span, 13 blocks in 39 games is laughable. For a long range shooter, he isn't particularly effective.

One assist per game?

I wouldn't touch this game with the 8th pick, nevermind trading yet another asset to acquire Barnes. No thanks. Stick to Igoudala or Lillard. Or trade down and grab Marshall or something

i also asked the mods to merge this thread if they agree with your sentiments, if you read the OP you would see that.

Also, "legit media" is an oxymoron when it comes to toronto sports, as every article iv'e seen is just as speculative as this thread. To deem it as spam is ridiculous IMO. Believe what you want, trust who you want, but that doesn't mean that this topic doesn't warrant discussion, sorry if it is in the wrong place. then again, you aren't a mod, so really you have no say.

discuss the info, not the legitimacy of my source.

Do it, BC! Barnes has long-screamed out as the perfect fit and would cost considerably less than making a play for the likes of Gay/Iggy/Deng.

Really the type of guy we should be obtaining, especially if Nash is coming here. That size+ability to consistently knock down that long-range 3 is what we've been needing.

How about we just stay at 8 where we can draft a better player in Lamb/Waiters.

I'm sure BC has explored multiple scenarios but ask yourselves this: Why would the Kings trade away Barnes when they DESPERATELY need a 3? They used Tyreke Evans at the 3 this year which shows their lack of depth at the forward position. Outlaw and Garcia both played horrible this season. I don't see them making the trade unless they're getting a small forward in return.

couldn't agree more. you are right on point in that assessment, and is most likely the reason the kings are hesitant to pull the trigger on this draft day deal.

after posting here, just watched the DX video. Please stay the **** away from this guy.

In 2 years at NC, only had more than 2 assists twice.

Per 40 mins, ranks 23/24 in assists amongst draft eligible small forwards.

They shouldnt have to merge it is my point.

But the difference is we KNOW they have legitimate sources, yours are merely "anonymous" much your account here. You cited your credibility, I said its inaccurate and your defense is talk about the "unsubstanciated rumor" not the source or the source providing the source.

God every player that gets written about online is linked here by some poster, and if it sticks (I mean we have gone thru the whole league) they are self-appointed "insiders". And this summer has been no different. Its no secret this team has needs at every position apart from the 4 (and even that is arguable), so it stands to reason one can speculate, for instance a guy like Nash would sign here, esp after BCs numerous attempts to Trade for him.

Throwing plausible scenerios out there, under the guise they are from legitimate sources, doesnt make them legitimate.

I feel the same way about Barnes after watching him closely in his games against UVA as well as tournament games. He has all the tools, but I just didn't see anything resembling "greatness" in those games.
